The time was going by rather quickly on route back to M-69 between their regular duties and everyone getting their belongings packed up for the move to the new Ship three days from now. The various departments were also getting any samples and/or research items packed up as well.
Captain O'Connell was at command when Commander Devroe walked onto the Bridge "Good morning Captain" Angel greeted with a smile before sitting in her chair.
"Commander good morning to you as well. So how's the Crew coming along with their packing" Jamie inquired returning her smile.
"Good, most everyone have their quarters just about all packed up and during the day I'm going to tour the various departments to make sure anything that needs to be transferred to the new Peel is all set as well" Angel replied.
"Excellent Number One. I didn't mean to put all this on you but I've been spending a considerable amount of time making sure I include all the details about Valdaron in my report to Admiral Stone just in case anything comes up as suspect down the road" Jamie explained then paused a moment "I hope we don't have anymore missions like that one for a long time to come."
"I'm right there with you Captain; that one almost got to me for obvious reasons" Angel replied "And as far as myself dealing with the move I'm more than happy to take that burden off your shoulders Captain; that's what I'm here for."
Smiling "And I can't tell you how much I appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond; I don't think I could do it without you" Jamie replied being very sincere "Also if you could check with the Counselor and make sure all of the Medical records for the Crew are downloaded onto a PaDD for transference to the new Ship; I don't want anyone's records to get lost in the shuffle."
"If I know Sarissa she's probably one step ahead already but I'll touch base with her just to be sure. Now I assume there'll be someone on the new Ship to do a massive data dump from the old ship to the new one" Angel commented.
"Yes, the Crew that brings the new ship will take care of that. I'll make sure I'm available to help with all the transfers so between the two of us things should transition smoothly" Jamie replied "I'll be here at command so feel free to walk the ship and start checking on some of the things we've discussed."
"Thank you, I'll get right on it" Angel replied then stood and walked to the lift "Deck 4 Medical" she called out making mental notes of what departments she needed to visit.
[ Deck 4 ]
Exiting the Lift Angel made her way to the Counselor's Office. Seeing the door open and Sarissa at her desk she knocked on the doorjamb "Good Morning Counselor, might I have a moment of your time."
Sarissa offered Angel a warm smile. “Of course, Come on in.”
"I won't take up too much of your time. With the new Ship on the horizon, the Captain is concerned about the Crew's medical records. We'll be doing a massive data dump between the two Ships; however for safety's sake he would like you to copy all the health records to a PaDD just so no one slips through the cracks with the move" Angel explained with a smile "Of course I told the Captain you probably had thought of that scenario yourself."
Sarissa nodded. "Actually I tend to keep a backup copy of the files of my patients, just incase anything should go awry. I've been making sure the computer has the latest records backed up and ready to go across to the new ship."
Angel grinned at her reply "I knew you'd be on top of things as per usual. I have a few more stops to make so I'll let you get to it then" she commented then turned and left the Counselor's Office.
After her brief meeting with Sarissa, Angel headed for Science Lab 1 since Mr Sayvek wasn't on the Bridge this morning. Walking over to him "Good morning Lieutenant Sayvek, how are you today" she inquired with a smile.
" Hello, I am quite well. " Sayvek replied.
"Good to hear. The reason for my visit is just to touch base with the different Departments and see how you're coming along with the packing process. Anything in the Labs you've been working on please make sure they are placed in their appropriate containers for transferring to the new Ship. So how are your quarters going packing wise" Angel inquired with a smile.
" Having just transferred over from the station I have a very minimal container to carry." Sayvek replied.
"That's right, you haven't been with us all that long; you've fit in so well with the rest of the Crew I tend to forget that" Angel replied with a smile "I have more Crew to check in with so I'll leave you to the rest of your day." as she turned and left the Lab.
Things were moving along quite nicely this morning so Angel decided keep going since she was on a roll as she made her way to the Intelligence Department. Waking up to the secured door Angel keyed in her security code then did the retina scan before hearing the door unlock. Opening the door she walked in seeing Yesrin at her desk "Good morning Lieutenant, do you have a minute" she inquired with a smile.
Looking up from her work Yesrin stood out of respect for her superior then returned the smile "For my favorite Commander, always. Please have a seat" she commented gesturing to the nearby chair.
Sitting "I won't take up too much of your time. The Captain asked me check on the various Departments to see how you're coming along on getting things packed up for the move to the new Ship in a few days" Angel explained.
"Good. All of our tech gear and weapons are all packed up and most of our quarters are as well; except for what I'll need personally for the next few days but that'll only take less than an hour to finish up" she replied happy to see Angel if only for a few minutes.
"Excellent Lieutenant" she replied then paused "After everything gets settled on the new Ship perhaps you'd like to have dinner with me some night as a way of showing my appreciation for saving my life back on Valdaron."
"I'd like that; but you do realize I was only doing what I've been trained to do....save lives" Yesrin answered with a grin.
"Yes I know that but being in that situation it was a lot more to me than you just doing your duty......I couldn't have tolerated that kind of life if the worst had happened."
"And no one could have blamed you either" then she paused looking Angel in the eyes "I don't think I could ever have forgiven myself if something had happened to you but thankfully that wasn't the case."
With a big smile "That makes two of us. Anyway I should be going; there are few more stops I need to make" as Angel stood looking at this Trill woman who was starting to have somewhat of an impact on her personal life.
"Anytime Commander" Yesrin stated as Angel left and continued on with the task at hand. Walking onto a nearby lift "Main Engineering" as the doors swooshed shut.
[ Deck 2 ]
Entering Angel saw the Chief instructing one of his Staff. When he was finished she walked up to him "Good morning Lieutenant Flannery, how's it going this morning."
"Commander what a pleasant surprise; it's going well thanks for asking. So what brings you into my domain this morning" Marcus commented with a smile while hoping he didn't do anything wrong to require a visit from the XO.
Seeing Marcus a little on edge she smiled "Relax Chief, I don't bite.....well at least not very hard" Angel commented with a grin trying to put Marcus at ease.
"Sorry Commander I'm not used seeing Command walking into Engineering just to say hello" he replied with a grin.
"No I suppose not and that's on me. Anyway I wanted to touch base with you to see how your people are progressing with their packing for the switch to the new ship" Devroe explained.
"As far as I know the majority of my Crew have most of their quarters set to go. As far as Engineering is concerned there's not much to pack up since I assume the new Peel will be all equipped ready to go as far as tools and equipment is concerned" he replied.
"Yes Mr. Flannery, the new ship should be all stocked ready to go from what the Captain has told me" the Commander replied "So how are you feeling about getting a ship with a Quantum Slipstream Drive installed."
"It's exciting to say the least" then he paused "Permission to speak freely Ma'am" he commented.
"Yes of course Lieutenant, do you have any concerns I should know about" Devroe inquired with some concern about his question.
"I just hope the new QSD Engineer we'll be getting knows his or her stuff.....I mean I do have a basic knowledge of the system from my academy days and I'm sure we'll be receiving all the specs for the new ship.....I'm sure there'll be somewhat of a learning curve involved and I am prepared to learn everything as quickly as I can as long as he/she is willing to teach me and cut me some slack at first" Marcus explained a little nervous at the prospect.
Thinking for a moment "I'm sure the Admiral wouldn't send someone unless he was sure they were qualified not only to run the new systems but also be able to teach everyone else in your department. Rest assured you'll be seeing a lot more of me in the days to come, at least for awhile until I'm convinced this will be a positive transition for everyone involved; we're not going to hang you out to dry" Angel replied firmly and with assurance.
"Thank you Commander, that means a lot hearing that. I want this transition to the new systems to go as smoothly as possible while everyone of my Crew learns what they need to learn" he replied with a smile "And please Commander feel free to drop by anytime; It's always a pleasure."
"Thanks Chief and if you have any questions or concerns that you can't resolve I want you to promise me you'll come and see me before things get complicated; your success is a priority for both the Captain and myself" she stated with a smile.
"I promise Commander" Marcus assured her.
"Good, I'll let you get on with the rest of your day" Angel stated then turned to head back to the Bridge.
[ Deck 1 ]
Exiting the Lift Commander Devroe walked onto the Bridge and over to Jamie "Things seem to be going well by everyone for the big move over to the new Ship" Angel stated then lowered her voice "Lieutenant Flannery is a little concerned about the new QSD Engineer in regards to his/her willingness to train his department adequately but I told him we'd have his back if there's any sort of problem in that regard."
"Absolutely!! Marcus has done an amazing job since we lost our last Chief and has stepped up every time there was any sort of issue. I doubt the Admiral would send anyone who wasn't qualified both in knowledge and the ability to pass their knowledge onto others" O'Connell replied having complete faith in Marcus.
As Angel sat "That's pretty much what I told Mr. Flannery" then she paused "I think it's just the uncertainty of things at the moment that has him spooked and I did make him promise to come and see me if he needs to talk and he agreed he would" she explained.
"Good. I don't anticipate any issues though and I agree it's the uncertainty setting in but please keep an eye on things in Engineering in case we need to wart off any potential issues" O'Connell ordered.
"One step ahead of you Captain; I already told Marcus he would be seeing a lot more of me for awhile until I'm satisfied with a smooth transition to the new systems" she answered.
Jamie grinned "Of course you did and that's why you're such a good First Officer; it's almost like you can read my mind at times. Anyway we should be arriving back at M-69 tomorrow about mid morning. I'm going to give the Crew twenty four hours off so they can relax and finish up any last minute details before the new Ship arrives the next day."
"That's a good idea to let everyone unwind a little from our last mission" then Angel lowered her voice "Plus it'll give you the opportunity to see how Shauna's getting along" she commented as Jamie gave a nod of agreement.
