Peel Post - New Arrival

Location: S/M: Shakedown Cruise
Timeline: Stardate: 78934.4

Sub Mission: The new USS Peel goes on a shakedown cruise to get the Crew accustomed to the various upgraded technologies. Along the way they discover a distress call coming from a small colonized planet needing immediate assistance.

[Old Peel]

Captain O'Connell was in his Ready Room getting the last of his personal things together, although they only filled about half of a small box; he wasn't big on 'stuff' in his Office just to take up space. Minutes later "Captain, I just received word the new Ship has arrived and is at Docking Arm 58-2 as we speak" Comms informed him. "Inform them I'm on my way" O'Connell replied then tapping his comm "Commander Devroe meet me Transporter Room One" "On my way Captain" Devroe replied thinking the new ship must have arrived.

Arriving at the requested destination, the two Officers met up as the Captain greeted his Number One "Looks like she's arrived; ready for a new chapter in our adventure together" Jamie inquired with a grin as the two Officers steeped onto the transporter pads "I was born ready Captain" Angel replied with a grin. Looking towards the Operator "Lieutenant beam us directly to Docking Arm 58-2 if you would please" came the order "As you wish Captain" as he entered the coordinates "In 3...2...1....energizing" as the Officers left the Ship.

[Star Base M-69]

Materializing at the desired location Captain O'Connell looked around seeing another Captain and a Lieutenant standing just off the gang-way to the new Ship. Walking towards them O'Connell smiled and extended his hand "Good Morning, I'm Captain Jamie O'Connell" as both Captains shook hands "And this is my First Officer, Lieutenant Commander Angel Devroe" as she shook his hand as well.

"Captain O'Connell, Commander Devroe a pleasure Sirs. I'm Captain Ben Harper current C.O. of the new USS Peel, that is for the moment" as he grinned "May I present Lieutenant D'Nall; your new QSD Engineer" Ben stated.

Extending his hand "Lieutenant D'Nall welcome aboard and we look forward to having you on our Crew" O'Connell commented as they shook hands. "Lieutenant D'Nall I'd like to welcome you as well" Devroe added as she shook his hand.

"Captain, Commander it's very nice to meet you both and I look forward to serving under your Command" D'Nall replied with a smile "Captains, Commander if I may be dismissed I have a couple of things I'd like to check in Engineering before Captain O'Connell takes command."

"Yes please by all means; you're dismissed" Captain Harper commented. As D'Nall walked off Ben turned to the others "Lieutenant D'Nall is very competent and is an excellent QSD Engineer; I'm sure you'll find him an asset to your Crew" he stated "If you both would like to follow me I'll escort you to your new Bridge."

Looking at Commander Devroe then back to Captain Harper "Yes please lead the way" Jamie replied as they all went through a security checkpoint and onto the ship.

[New Peel]

Walking onto the Bridge it seemed slightly larger, including the View Screen, with all new technology in place including larger and brighter Station screens "As you can see, you have the latest tech and of course three chairs at Command as per your request Captain. Please take a few minutes to look around if you'd like" Ben commented.

Looking at Jamie "Wow! This is really something Captain" Angel whispered not wanting to be overheard besides being a little overwhelmed at the moment.

"Yes, It certainly is" Jamie replied in a low voice with a grin "Shall we take a quick stroll around and check things out." "Right behind you Captain" Devroe commented as they walked around slowly trying to take everything in.

When they were finished they walked back over to Ben "Captain I think Star Fleet have outdone themselves with this one; She's a real beauty" O'Connell stated loving this new Ship so far.

"Yes She's quite impressive. Also if you noticed the Captain and First Officer's chairs have panels inlaid in both armrests; with the left you both can access critical Ship's functions at a glance and on the right is a Comm panel for making ship wide announcements and paging purposes" Harper explained "Also we'd like to transfer everything from your old ship to the new one starting at zero eight hundred tomorrow including a 'data dump' beween both ships; we should be able to complete this in a twenty four hour timeframe. Any questions."

Captain O'Connell thought a moment "Yes actually; at what point will the Crew be able to move into their new Quarters tomorrow and is this ship fully stocked other than personal or items we bring over from the old Peel" he inquired.

"We had planned on getting everyone's personal items for their quarters beamed over first that way they can check in with Security and start getting things settled. After that we'll finish transferring what ever is left that you two deem necessary and yes you are fully stocked in all areas" Harper replied "Once the transfers are complete then we will swap Ships as well as Command Protocols; if you're agreeable."

"Hats off to you Captain Harper you seem to have everything well in hand and yes that's most agreeable" O'Connell stated with a grin "We'll head back to our Ship now and inform our Crew what to expect in the next twenty four hours and I'll contact you tomorrow morning at zero eight hundred then we can commence the transfer process."

"Thank you Captain O'Connell but this is what I do" then he paused "From what the Admiral has told me, you Sir run a very good Ship and Crew which is most likely why the Admiral wanted this particular Ship under your command."

Jamie stood for a moment a little blown away by the accolades "Thank you Captain but it's a team effort, not only with my First Officer at my side, but also my Senior Officers and our Crew" O'Connell replied "We should be going Captain we have some work ahead of us" tapping his Comm "Transporter Room One, two to beam back."

[Old Peel]

Back aboard the Captain and Commander went directly to the Conference Room with O'Connell tapping his Comm "All Senior Officers and Lieutenant Flannery please report to the Conference Room right away for a brief meeting, Captain out" came the order.

Having enjoyed her off time relaxing with Johan, Sarissa smiled as the two of them headed for the conference together. “What do you think?” She looked at Johan. “Shakedown cruise for our new ship, or something else?”

"If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it's probably about the new Ship but I guess we'll find out soon enough" Johan commented as they both entered the meeting "Captain, Commander good day" he stated with a smile as they both sat.

"Lieutenants nice to see you both" then O'Connell paused looking toward Sarissa "Counselor how are you, all things considered" the Captain inquired.

“I’m feeling much better thank you Captain” Sarissa smiled. “The time off you gave us was just what I needed.”

With a smile "That's certainly good news and glad to have you back" O'Connell replied pleased the time off helped.

Minutes later Lieutenant Flannery arrived looking at everyone in the room "Hello" as he sat wondering why he had been included with the Senior Officers.

O'Connell looked over in his direction "Mr. Flannery, I would like you to start attending these meetings since you are the acting Engineering Chief; my apologies I should have mentioned this before now."

"No problem Captain and thank you for including me" Marcus replied with a smile.

A few minutes later SanChez and Jen walked in together as Maria addressed the room "Hi everyone" with Yesrin giving a polite head nod before they were seated.

"Lieutenants nice to see you" Commander Devroe stated with a smile as Yesrin looked up at her and smiled back; Angel was pleased to see their conversation the other night hadn't produced a negative impact.

Sayvek had very little to pack but he did enjoy his quarters as the acoustics were very good. Leaving this he made his way to the conference room.

" I apologize for being tardy Captain." Sayvek greeted.

"Not a problem Lieutenant. Now that you're all here I wanted to share with you what the next twenty four hours are going to look like" as the Captain explained everything in detail "So that's the ball game, as they say. We would like to see the transition to go as smoothly was possible. When completed then this ship will be decommissioned and Captain Harper and his Crew will take her back to Space Dock One orbiting Earth. So questions anyone" O'Connell concluded.

Sarissa shook her head, she had no particular questions right now.

Maria spoke up "Captain just so you're aware Captain Hunt and his Marines are all set for the move tomorrow. Also what about our quarter's assignments; we will know ahead of time Sir" SanChez inquired.

"Yes and thank you for reminding me Lieutenant. Please let your people know your new quarter's assignment are already posted in the Mess Hall on the wall by the door so please relay that message" the Captain replied "Anyone else with questions?" Looking around the room O'Connell didn't hear any other takers "Ok, if any of you do have any questions later please don't hesitate to ask either the Commander or myself. Dismissed."

Everyone went back to their duties as Devroe commented to Jamie "That went well so hopefully tomorrow goes as well" Angel commented with a smile then lowered her voice "So if I may ask, how was your time with Captain Vehn."

"That would be nice and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't" Jamie replied hoping for a smooth transition then grinned "Let's just say It went much better than I had anticipated and we'll leave it at that." Angel had a smirk on her face thinking "Jamie probably got lucky; at least someone is."
