" FIRST RESPONDERS PART 1 "

Lieutenant Commander Croesus quickly picked his runabout as it had just been made available for duty. It was a second class Danube 2 class ship equipped and already shaken down with slipstream drive.
Studying his choices for crew he tapped his comms badge.
" Commander Croesus to Lieutenant Ellie Kees-Odak."

With her children in nursery Ellie was in the Science lab, looking up from her PaDD she tapped her comm badge. “Ellie here, what can I do for you Commander?”

[ Lieutenant your name popped up due to your science back ground . There is a new class M planet that has never been studied before. We need a science officer. Are you interested?] Croesus asked as he was already aboard the runabout.

“I most certainly am Sir, I just need a little time to make arrangements for the twins with my husband.” Ellie responded. She hadn’t been away from her babies before so she needed to be sure she was making the right decision.

[ Excellent. We depart at 1800 hours tonight.Croesus out.]

Also going was Lt Salem and Ltjg Nic Covenant who would act as operations and communications officers.

Arriving at the Runabout Wacamaw, Lieutenant Johnson was eagerly looking forward to something new and exciting. It seemed like he'd been on the Station forever and was more than glad to carry out Dr. Williams request for him to tag along with the Away Team just in case; James packed all the usual supplies a Medic would need for treatment.

Once the team all arrived Croesus spoke up as their ranking Commander.
" None of you know me but I have been a career officer for years. Our first contact mission here is to scan the planet and determine if there is life there. Catalogue the life forms and not disturb them. Are there any questions?"

"I'm guessing we have little to no idea if there are any natives on this planet?" Ellie looked at Croesus curiously. "To do a full study we'd need to either come in close from orbit, or find a sheltered spot on the planet's surface."
" Well science officer that is where you come in. Lt Ellie Kees-Odak will lead our science team. Mr Salem you will assist her. Lt Covenant you will stay with the runabout and maintain a lock on all of us.

"Commander might I suggest Sir, I accompany the Away Team in case any medical should arise" James suggested.

" Yes you will be with me Doctor. The main objective is for us to see the surface conditions and gather data. A Mercury probe has already scanned the planet and concluded there is indigenous life. Whether it is sentient may take some time. I also have activated two Mardroid sentries for this mission. They are in the Cargo Bay. Are there any questions?" Croesus asked.

“No Sir” Ellie shook her head. “I’m itching to get started.”


< Nebula Planet >

A now crippled SS El Dorado managed to stabilize itself and carry the crew into the Nebula where a class M planet had recently been discovered.

" Hogus is that a planet?" Rich asked.

" Darn tooting. It scans to be M Class and I bet it has fish the size of whales." Hogus replied. Mitzy mowed and licked it's foot.

" Attempting to land but it'll be bumpy. That big hole back there will vent in all kinds of vaporised gasses. We will need the full gear." Hogus added.

" I will get the gear. Mitzy you have to go into your cage for now." Blaine replied.

On that very planet life did exist from the lowest cell to the most dangerous of beings which happened to be a sentient species of reptile like beings not much larger than an Earth Ostrich. Only these could reason, think and hunt. But they also had evolved to have a sentience that availed them communications with other such beings on the planet..

But it was a large surprise when the SS El Dorado crashed into the Hill side of one such brood of them, starting a fire for all to see.

Blaine evacuated his small crew and watched as his vessel melted away from the fires.

" Bloody Hell, my whole life was in there." Rich cried.

" Boy you survived worse. You have your cat, you have me and Duchess over there ...well you have me." Hogus replied.

" Duchess paid for our last fuel. I owe her a trip home." Rich replied.

Duchess as he called her was indeed a wealthy lady from Risa who had booked a voyage aboard the El Dorado only to meet this horrid fate..
" Oh Skipper? When will the ship be operational again?" Duchess asked. Hogus couldn't believe her words. Had she not just witnessed what they had all just seen?

" Duchess we have met with a slight tragedy," Blaine replied.

" Surely not?" Duchess joked back.

But the joking stopped when Rich looked around and realized they were not alone as several pairs of eyes peered at them from the woods.
