THE KINGDOMS COME AND GO

Sureth had a lot to deal with as Captain Callaghan now called Vehn was on leave . One of which was to inform the Klingon delegation of a recently learned issue.
It was far from where the Klingon Colony was but still of concern as Sureth knew they would want to know. Using his com set in his office Sureth hailed Commander Kehlani.
Thankfully, Her own business had brought Commander Kehlani to M-69. The Klingons were still allies to the Federation and House Kehlani, especially. With Higan old enough to move around it was high time that the Matriarch of House Kehlani got back to her duties. Hearing her name called out, Kehlani tapped her combadge. "Kehlani, here, Commodore. What can I do for you, Sir?"
" Inwas told you were on station and hoped to have a moment of your time." Sureth replied.
"Absolutely, Commodore Sureth." Putting the finishing touches on her appearance for being around others, her son left with his nanny, Kehlani stepped from her quarters on station. "On my way, now, Commodore. Should be there shortly. Kehlani, out." As good as her word, Kehlani arrived in short order, going directly to the Commodore's office door, his assistant signaling for her to go in because she was expected. Stepping into the CO's private office was always a thrill, no matter how many years of service. The seat of power for a floating metropolis. "An honor to see you again, Sureth." She came forward and stopped appropriately, raising her right hand in the Vulcan salute. "Peace and long life."
" My Klingon is rusty but thanks you for your blessing. I wanted to speak to you about your colony? How is it going?" Sureth asked.
Kehlani was pleased he seemed interested in the colony, but at the same time remained wary. Why would he ask such a thing? "We're coming along fine. Mahrz is working on strengthening alliances, both in and out of the Empire. I am looking forward to duty again. My son is on station, and with Mister Lasso around I'm sure the right sort of company can be arranged. Is there something House Kehlani should know?"
Sureth remained calm and Vulcan but did need to let Kehlani know his findings.
" I have just returned from sector Messier 69, the original home of our starbase. You may not be aware but part of that sector is now inside the Romulan Neutral Zone. Saying that the Remans are apparently patrolling that sector. I highly doubt you will be so far from Messier 8 but as the acting Klingon delegation to our station you needed to be made aware." Sureth reported.
Kehlani's face broke into an evil grin. "Seems there will be ample opportunity to send some Remans to the afterlife. I appreciate the knowledge, as does my House and the Empire. If you will allow I can have vessels from Kor'Kang make stops here on their way through. Keep a visible presence on your station, Sureth."
" As a Star Fleet Officer you have given an oath Commander. Please do not do anything that would jeapordize that. As for visits the Klingon Empire is a welcome guest on this station." Sureth replied.
"I shall let Patriarch Marz know. You are correct, Commodore, I did take an oath." Kehlani said. "I will uphold that oath because honor demands it. IKS Foes Bane is at your service so long as I am here as your Strategic Operations Chief. We go where you order us to go."
"Excellent as the Peel is away and the Athena is off line I may have to call upon its service." Sureth replied.
Kehlani was pleased that he found her announcement agreeable. She gave him a crooked grin. "Being around my own people has made me a little rough around the edges, Commodore Sureth, when it comes to social interaction." Her expression showed she was still being friendly even as her grin came and went as she spoke. "With my mate running the House, and my son here with me, I can see to my duties here. And, here is where I plan to be for a while. Lieutenant Gavin," she paused a moment and did a tongue-in-cheek grin. "Pardon. I mean Lieutenant Lasso, would be a great help to me since he is a member of House Kehlani, and the KDF, although honorary. I know that his attentions are split as he aids Captain Green with Fleet Captain administration, among other things. Being Flight Control Chief, he knows a great deal about our immediate tactical area surrounding M-69. I would like to have him aboard Foes Bane occasionally during standard patrols, if you don't mind?"
" No I do not object. I value your service and that of your colony. The Empire relationship is crucial to the Federation interests." Sureth replied.
"Excellent, Sir." Kehlani said. "I do agree, our alliance out here needs to remain strong. KorKang is always open for visitors from M-69 who wish to tour Klingon culture, and explore a wide open planet. Shore leave things."
" That is very good to hear. The crews have worked very hard these last few years. An R and R on a real planet would be very welcomed." Sureth replied.
Kehlani gave a nod and a smile. "There is an entire tropical archipelago that has yet to be explored. I'm sure I can talk Marz into allowing the construction of a research outpost for your people, Commodore. But, alas, I digress. I'm glad to be of service again, Sureth."
" Commander you are an excellent officer. Should you require assistance I have several engineers that would gladly assist in the building of the outpost." Sureth replied.
That sounded like a damn fine plan. Maybe Gavin could be assigned to aid in its construction with small craft. Airlifting for construction was a must, and Kehzza would be most thankful if he was on world. "I don't see why not. It will give M-69 a Risa-like experience. Just know that not all predators have been classified yet. Plus, House Kehlani has its own scientists that need some on the job training."
" I will speak to Captain Shauna Vehn and assign the staff." Sureth added.
Kehlani gave a toothy smile. "Excellent! Perhaps we'll celebrate another kot'baval festival so that your officers and crew can truly enjoy Klingon culture and all it has to offer. Celebrated by Klingons as Christmas is celebrated by Humans. Drinking, singing, camaraderie, games and contests. I would be truly honored if you and your loved ones were to take part, Sureth. With IKS Foes Bane as my vessel, my crew will be available on station, as well."
" Perhaps but I am sure the crew will be most interested in this festival. I have some other meeting to attend. Thank you for discussing these issues Commander." Sureth ended.
"Of course, Commodore," Kehlani responded with a curt nod. "I shall see to my duties. Qapla'!" With his own words bringing this conversation to an end, Kehlani would not hold him up. "Permission to carry on, Sir?"
" Of course Commander, as you we're. " Sureth replied.
