Terry left his meeting with Captain Vehn and worked little longer on some power allocations for his shop off station. But the intense pain in his tertiary eye implant was too much.
The gamble was exposing himself to the stations Doctor and what would come of that.
Doctor Williams walked out of his office seeing a Captain standing in Sick Bay proper looking around. Approaching him "Captain, I'm Doctor Williams, how may I help you" Ramvek inquired with a smile.
" Doctor I have an eye condition that sometimes flares up. Do not be afraid but I was once assimilated, not by the Borg, but by a similar situation by a race in the Gamma Quadrant. Long story short I need an infusion of xrays." Terry reported.
"No worry Captain; I've been around worse" he replied with a light chuckle "Take a seat on that bio-bed and lets take a look at that eye." Taking the small scanner from his uniform pocket Ramvek scanned the Captain's eye "I see what you mean; there's more technology in there than tissue; I can see why it gives you problems occasionally" then he paused "So how did you get yourself assimilated in the first place."
" It was just during the Dominion War. I was on a ship that was chasing Jem Hadar back across the worm hole after they reopened the worm hole. Our ship was downed on a moon. We thought it was deserted...turned out it wasn't. It was a planet of cybernetic life forms. They healed up our injuries and then vanished. They call themselves Cybrids and they made contact with me ten years later. They eye needed a recharge. It uses some weird xray power source to recharge." Kingston replied.
Thinking a moment "I can certainly flood the eye with X-rays and hopefully you'll be able to tell me if it's charged or not. Being alien tech like this I may be hard pressed to be able to measure the success myself" Williams explained hoping he'd get lucky on the first attempt.
" My only other option is to get my ship back and use it to repair my eye. Aboard the Wacamaw I have a complete medical refit kit and holographic doctor. She knows my complete medical history.." Kingston replied.
"That certainly is anther option of course; I guess you need to ask yourself can you wait that long putting up with the problem" Ramvek pointed out "But I would not wait too long and permanently injure your eye; tech or no tech I'm sure it has limits same as a biological eye does."
" You said it Doctor. I also thought you should know since I will be here for a while." Terry replied. " Doctor while I have your ear some of the earlier pilots complained about having issues after their first ride through the slipstream. Nausea, vomiting etc."
"I can not say I am surprised, the body was not meant to travel at those speeds" then he paused a moment "I can synthesize either a oral pill or an injection to relive those symptoms; hopefully once the body gets used to that mode of travel then the medication will no longer be necessary" Williams explained.
" Doctor you are an ace. My formula for slipstream came from the Cybrids. But unfortunately they didn't include the cure for motion sickness." Terry confessed.
Williams grinned "Give me a couple of days and I can synthesize the compound; will two hundred pills be enough to get you started" he inquired "We can't have folks vomiting on the Bridge now can we."
" Can you make that into a hypo? My recruits will need to be inoculated upon arrival. For now the old Dramamine helps but it leaves one very sleepy." Kingston replied.
"Yes of course; actually it will take less time to synthesize" the Doctor replied "Is day after tomorrow soon enough; I will have one hundred doses ready since they will not have to be given as often."
" Doctor you are a God send. I also hope this stays between us? " Terry then added.
"Not to worry Captain, I take patient confidentiality very seriously so yes your situation will stay between the two of us" Ramvek replied in a reassuring manner.
" I am glad. I promised the Cybrids I would not divulge their existence but with my eye issue I need a medical advocate." Kingston added.
"That is what I am here for, to take care of the medical needs of all Crew on the Station; be it long term folks or short term" the Doctor stated.
Terry was glad he had met this Ramvek Williams and hoped he had made a friend on this station.
