The Wacamaw crisply dripped out of warp as it returned home to Starbase M-69. For Captain Terry Kingston it had felt like a decade as he had faced off with member of the Federation Security Council and Star Fleet Engineering boards.

He had hoped to wait them out but as their decisions were never that simple Captain Kingston returned with plans to pick up shop and move on with his programs or accept the initial request to resign with full honors. Which meant they would Moth ball his slipstream program in favor of another concept.

Mooring in his section of the station his assistant Lt Uno waited for Kingston to exit via the air lock.

" Report Lieutenant."

" The station is operating at nominal levels. Refits were put on hold until your return which availed me to assist as chief engineer on an excursion to the Crestacian Moon. Upon my return I have begun diagnostic checks on the McCook. The new saucer repairs have stabilized the slipstream and it has now been returned to service."

" Good report Uno."
" Captain do we have permission to move to phase 4?" Uno asked.
" No. In fact we might be dismantled. Some at Starfleet do not trust the Cybrids as there is no official relations with that world."

" Have you informed the Cybrid leadership of this issue?" Uno asked.
" They are aware. Their culture are xenophobic and do not want to pursue relations. I can't say that I blame them. Hiding from the Borg those many years is exhausting. I have made one more overture to the Cybrids and if successful we will hear from them soon." Kingston replied.

Uno also known as Lieutenant Jg 101 had been forced to separate from his biological twin in an experiment a few years back. Following the death of that twin Uno had felt lost until Captain Kingston had him join his team and introduces him to the AI components. Now Uno had a purpose and felt a part of a new culture.
