The truth about Dawnstar

Mission:
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 09/26
Location: USS Cascade - Various
Timeline: ====
Hannah was running to catch up with the Commander, while she had her orders she hated the secrets. If the information she'd gotten with the computer was current she would catch up to her a section down from sickbay, as she rounded the corner. "oof!" she exclaimed as she almost collided with her.
"I'm so sorry Commander..." short of breath "The Captain sent me to assist you."
“That's okay Hannah.” Isabelle smiled warmly. “You don’t need to exhaust yourself racing after me. How are things going on the bridge?”
Propping herself up on the bulkhead "The Captain checked in with the Dawnstar ships, I think it was Captain Rodriguez in command of X one, they were going to discuss plans once things were evaluated with the Roswell." she took a serious look at Isabelle "How much were you briefed on Dawnstar?"
Isabelle gave Hannah a curious look. “Just the basic, that Dawnstar is a new class of ship. Is there something more I should know?”
"Dawnstar isn't a new class of ship, it's more like a new design philosophy, I was on Admiral Wallace's staff for about a year, there's a whole base where technology is being developed, reverse engineered, and even kept." Hannah started, "Back when I was little more than a petty functionary I met the Admiral while assigned to his personal staff, during that time I got to travel to the facility, the two ships are prototypes for a scout ship called the Avenger class, fast, maneuverable, armed just enough to get out of trouble and not much else, they're designed to work from a starbase mainly." she paused, taking a deep breath "There's nothing illegal going on, not really."
Isabelle nodded. “So why are you telling me this instead of the Commander?” She gave Hannah another curious look. “Is there a reason why he wouldn’t want me to know?”
"When I joined the crew it was for on mission, then I had the talk with the Captain about and how what we're doing is part of a bigger picture..." Hannah's voice dropped off
"There are groups within the Federation and Starfleet who think things have moved too far too fast, that the growth the Federation has under gone the last thirty plus years has weakened it, even drawn attention of newer more dangerous enemies, The Borg, The Dominion and so on..." David continued "But they’re also afraid of the scientific advances since the end of the Dominion war and the return of Voyager and that the changes will ignite and inflame more conflict, even among our own peoples."
Isabelle nodded. “So they’ve decided to do something about it, as in making sure we have stronger defences and more capable ships. I guess in some ways it makes sense, how do we truly know what threats we may face in the future.”
"We don't, no one saw the Dominion coming and they did a lot of damage, but a few people saw the Cardassians starting a new conflict, no one saw USS Linear being hijacked by it's crew neither did anyone see USS Olympus going on the run for the last twenty years, now we had marines shooting up colonists and politicians trying to spin it into a riot that didn't happen." David said.
Isabelle nodded. “Suddenly the united federation doesn’t sound quite so united anymore. Is no one willing to accept that we need to face a future full of unknowns? By our nature we’re all out here searching for the unknown, but it comes with risks. Risks we should be well prepared for.”
"When this is over, We'll sit down with the Admiral and the others, first we have people to save, and some explaining to do about the prototypes." David said
Isabelle nodded. “Sounds good to me.”
David switched gears "X one and two can take twenty each, we'll take on casualties first then see if between the drones and the ship if we can move the Roswell away from the line of fire and get it towed back to the station."
“Understood” Isabelle nodded. “As for what you just told me, I’m here so I want to know everything.”
"When this mission is over, you'll know, then you will have to make a decision on who else knows." David said as they arrived at the transporter room "First things first...Three to beam over, it's time to do what we do best."
