After the Senior Staff meeting Doctor Williams entered sick bay and went straight to his Office. Placing the tricorder on his desk, Ramvek started going over everyone's scan when he remembered he still needed to be scanned.
Tapping his comm "Nurse Stone could you please come to the CMO"s Office" as he began looking at the data from the scans.
Minutes later Heidi walked in "Doctor Williams you called" she inquired wondering what was up.
Ramvek looked up and smiled "Yes. Commodore Sureth ordered all the Senior Staff be scanned for any unusual substances in their blood" he explained then continued "Unfortunately I can not really scan myself and get an accurate scan, so if you would not mind" as he handed the tricorder to his Nurse.
Taking the device and hand scanner "I'd be happy to" she replied then proceeded to scan Ramvek. When finished she handed the device back to the Doctor "There, all set. Is there is anything else I can help you with Doctor" Heidi inquired with a grin.
Sitting back in his chair he smiled "You could have dinner with me later" he inquired.
"I'd love to; as if you had to ask" Heidi replied with a grin then lowered her voice "I'm always available for dinner with you; say eighteen hundred in my quarters?"
"Sounds good to me. I guess I better get to work then " he answered wanting to get this finished today.
"Yes, I know how you are once you start something. So I'll see you later then" as Heidi turned and went back to her patients.
After a an hour of checking scans Ramvek had not seen anything out of the ordinary until he came to Captain Green's scan. Looking at the results Ramvek saw something that he had not seen only once in his career; Kironide. It was a chemical substance that enabled a person to do extraordinary things; so the legends say. The last person Ramvek had to check was his own scan. Looking over the results Ramvek was in shock as he then sat back in his chair "Shit! I have some of that stuff in me as well" he thought "But I do not feel any different."
Double checking the scan data for the entire Senior Staff, Ramvek knew what had to come next. Tapping his Comm "Commodore Sureth, this is Doctor Williams, could you please drop by Sick bay; you are going to want to see this" he instructed.
[ I am on my way Doctor.] Sureth replied.
As he took the lift and then walked to sickbay Sureth remember the image of Green pulling the Pakled ship from the cloud as the tractor beam searched for the ships hull.
Entering sickbay Sureth called out " What did you find Doctor?"
Walking up to Sureth, Ramvek began to explain "After going over everyone's scans I detected something I have only seen once in my career as a doctor. Captain Green has something called Kironide in her blood. After searching the Medical archives I came across a paper written by Doctor Leonard McCoy from the first Enterprise detailing the effects of the chemical; he stated it gave the individual unusual abilities" then Ramvek paused a moment "And you should be aware Commodore that I also have the chemical in my blood as well; undoubtedly from my direct exposure to the Queen" then he paused once again before continuing "Although I don't feel any different than previously which may due to me being half Vulcan" he concluded wondering how Sureth would react to the information.
" Kironide? As I suspected however unusual out here it does make sense. It is usually a part of a dietary regiment and having an over active pituitary glands. Do you have supplements containing kironide Doctor? Can you make things move across the room?" Sureth asked.
Williams was a little taken back by Sureth's questions as he replied "According to Star Fleet regulation 719.8, it is forbidden to have Kironide as one of it's ingredients for any medications and/or supplements.....to answer your second question Commodore, no not that I am aware of" then he paused "The regulation was created to negate any form of substance abuse somewhere's around 2327."
Sureth paused as he realized his chosen words.
" I apologize Doctor. However we are very far from...society. The events of late have me thinking we have more of an issue than the kironide however. But as a scientist I would like to conduct an experiment. Doctor try to move the container on that shelf....close your mind and visualise the cylinder floating."
"Thank you Commodore and yes we really are at the edge of the Federation" Ramvek replied with a smile to signify his acceptance of the apology. Letting out a big breathe Ramvek cleared his mind and did as requested. After several moments the container started to move "Shirt!!......begging your pardon Sir.....that thing just moved. I stand corrected, looks like I have been affected by the Kironide after all."
" Now that you have done this how does it make you feel? Captain Green was able to pull the Pakled ship out of the Ion cloud with her abuility. That suggests to me that there is more to this than some kironide in her blood stream" Sureth replied.
After a few moments of thought "Actually it gave me a headache" then he paused a moment "But it does make me feel very tranquil and it has a calming effect" Ramvek replied curious about this new development in his life.
" Doctor I have great faith in your ability. But great powers come with great possibilities. Always stay grounded to your oaths." Sureth replied.
"Thank you Sureth for your counsel and I will stay grounded not only as a Doctor but to my Vulcan ideals as well; even if I am only half Vulcan" Ranvek replied with great conviction.
" We are all more than the sum of our parts. Being Vulcan makes you no better a person or a Doctor, but it helps." Sureth slightly joked.
Ramvek gave a light chuckle at Sureth's attempt at being funny "Yes it does and I am grateful for that" he replied with sincerity.
