NAZGUL: Reactor Six Repair Team

Posted on Wed Mar 5th, 2025 @ 12:18am by Lieutenant JG Ken Kudo & Lieutenant JG T'Pri

Mission: THE LAST CRY FOR HELP
Location: USS NAZGUL
Timeline: Current

ON:

Ken Kudo, after having taken a four hour nap after bringing the Malta out of the barrier and getting back to Nazgul, got up and went and took a shower, performed hygiene, and then got dressed in a fresh uniform for the day. Once he was presentable, Ken headed for the Bridge. It was late evening and the Alpha shift had finally been ordered to take a break. All except one. Lieutenant T'Pri was at her station, reading and researching as always. Kudo knew tat Vulcans did not require the amount of sleep other species did, so for her to remain working was not an unusual occurrence. The Gamma shift folks were all at their stations, keeping an eye on their stations, talking to one another in medium tones as they all talked across the Bridge. With the ship just sitting still, with nothing outside but a black void, there was not a whole lot to worry about for the skeleton crew known as Gamma Shift.

Needing to gather a team, Kudo went over to T'Pri, speaking as he approached so as to be polite, and in case he caught her off-guard. Vulcan hearing was superb so that did not worry him, but even a Vulcan could be surprised. "Miss T'Pri?" He said this as he came up on her right side, stepping in right next to the lower desk portion of her console. All she needed do was look up and slightly turn her head to see him without any kind of strain.

"Yes, Mister Kudo?"

Ken had a plan, and had already cleared it with the Captain and Number One before they went to take some rest time. "I would like to borrow one of your officers, for a repair team heading to reactor six in Impulse Engineering. I have two flight control officers, both trained in OPS and engineering enough to make the repairs under guidance. I would like a Science specialist there, as well."

"I find that agreeable, Mister Kudo." T'Pri offered. "It would be a learning experience for whomever you choose."

Not able to argue that point, Kudo gave a gracious nod. "I appreciate your support on this. We need our own aux power. Ejo is working on reactor one, I'll be at reactor six. I figure we can work on them until we meet in the middle. Could you look through your personnel and send the one you feel would be most helpful on a repair team?"

T'Pri gave a nod. "I shall do so, Lieutenant. They will meet you at reactor six, if that is acceptable."

"Thanks, T'Pri, I owe you one. And, that's perfect." Giving the Vulcan woman a nod of thanks Ken stepped away and exited the Bridge, tapping his combadge. "Samson, Kudo."

"Go ahead, Lieutenant. Samson, here."

The lift he was in stopped at his deck and the doors opened so Kudo spoke as he walked. "Have you had some rest? Any kind of sleep?"

"I have," Samson said. "Left two of your FC folks to man the Delta so I could get some shut eye. What you need?"

"Brett, I need you to bring Anita Mazzeo with you and meet me at Reactor Six." Kudo explained. Bring engineer vests for tool pockets. We'll be aiding engineering in getting the aux power back."

"About damn time, L-T. We'll be there in about twenty."

"Thanks, Samson. See you there. Kudo, out." Ken tapped the badge off and made his way through the deck and into Impulse Engineering. Going all the way back to Reactor Six, he then climbed the steel mesh steps to the control cage which was right at waist height for safety. If the ship got rocked while someone was up here they would at least have a chance of the mesh wall stopping a tumble, or it was something to grab onto. Wanting to make sure he caused no power overloads to the other reactors, Kudo shut down any connecting systems, leaving only the Auxiliary power lines open for the initial restart. Last thing he needed was to fry internal components on anything. By the time he had the reactor set for maintenance and repair and isolated from the others, Ken's team showed up. Brett Samson in gold, the always beautiful Sicilian Anita Mazzeo in gold, and another man in blue. Human from the looks of him. "Hello, people." Kudo greeted them and continued to speak as he descended the steps. "We have three things to check first. The quantum field inducer, the neutrino flux equalizer, and the thermal conversion coil. If any of those are damaged then it may be the cause for the reactor to have shut down. Mazzeo, why don't you start with the thermal coil."

"You bet, Sir." Wearing an engineers tool vest with pockets and pouches full of devices and tools, Ensign Anita Mazzeo walked away to get to work. You two, decide what would be best for you."

"Ensign Lars Frasier, Lieutenant." The man in blue introducing himself. "Lieutenant T'Pri said you needed some assistance. I have to say I can be more helpful on the neutrino flux issue."

"All yours, Mister Frasier. See to it, carry on." The man walked away and Ken was glad to see a SCI type in an engineer's vest. They worked in engineering daily, but mainly for algorithms and computer programming and data streams. "Brett, looks like you and I get the Quantum inducer. It won't check itself, let's go." The two men chatted as they walked toward the panel they would need to remove to get to the inducer, and continued to talk as they worked, laughing and joking between shop talk.
