Sureth attended every meeting and briefing he needed to but the time had come to check in on his First Officer.

Heading to sickbay Sureth prepared for anything as he had dealt with joined Trills before and knew of the changes they can under go.

" Doctor Williams is Captain Callaghan seeing visitors?

Recognizing the voice Ramvek turned "Commodore good day. Actually Shauna is almost back to normal physically and is meeting with the Counselor on a regular basis. After conferring with Isabelle we saw no reason for Shauna to remain in Sickbay any longer; what she needs now is time to finish the healing process both physically and mentally. We will however being checking in on her regularly.

" This was sudden? I was not aware she was being considered for a symbiont." Sureth replied.

Taking a breath "Yes it was very sudden. Shauna volunteered for the joining knowing full well what that would entail" then he paused "I didn't realize you knew nothing about this; but like I said it was her idea to be joined" Williams explained.

" I was on an away mission." Sureth replied. " I suppose I will go find her and catch up. Thank you Doctor."

Leaving sickbay Sureth decided to go to her quarters Commodore Sureth then tapped Captain Shauna Vehn's door chime.

Shauna was standing looking out on the view of the stars, her joining was giving her a whole new outlook on just about everything. "Come in" she turned towards the door to see who it was.

" A latinum bar for your thoughts. How are you Captain Callaghan?" Sureth greeted.

“Commodore, please come in and make yourself at home” Shauna smiled warmly. “To answer your question, I’ve never really noticed how beautiful the view is from here before. I guess I never took the time to pause and look.”

" It is remarkable. This close to a singularity but far enough away to stay safe. I understand you have had some changes to yourself? A symbiont from Trill?" Sureth replied.

Shauna nodded as she walked over to the sofa and sat down. “Yes Sir, I couldn’t just watch and let the Vehn symbiont perish, I had previously said that if I was needed I would help. I wasn’t even sure if I’d be suitable for joining, being only half Trill, but it seems to have worked.”

" Catch me up. Is this the symbiont that supposedly occupied the Dragon Queen? That creature must be thousands of years old by now? Is it effecting your judgements Captain?"

“Vehn is pretty old Captain, but not thousands of years. The Dragon Queen host was taken from our universe, but there were prior hosts that weren’t Trill. At least if I’m understanding correctly, my memories are still pretty jumbled.”

" I only read the reports. I am concerned with this situation given this being was influenced by such surroundings. I understand the Assul ships went back to their home world. Did you resolve their government issues?" Sureth then added.

“To be honest my focus wasn’t that clear at the time, I was still recovering from being joined.” Shauna offered apologetically. “If anything has been left outstanding I’ll do what I can to resolve it.”

" Shauna you are my best officer and friend. I just want you to be all right. As for the Assul we will deal with them when the time comes. I am fascinated by what you are experiencing. Two mind sets in one body must be overwhelming to be sure?" Sureth replied.

Shauna nodded. “It’s difficult to explain, I have memories that aren’t mine, yet they are.” She paused. “There are times I forget for a moment who I am, then I remember. I have to allow time to fully bond.”

" I would hate to lose you but would a trip home to Trill help you?" Sureth replied.

Shauna shook her head. “I don’t need to go to Trill Sir, I have what I need right here. My friends and colleagues.” Her thoughts went to Jamie, how would he deal with her being joined. “I would like to spend some time with Captain O’Connell when he returns.”

" A leave, of course. Captain O'Connell is a very good officer. I will agree to almost anything so long as I do not lose my best officer." Sureth replied.

Shauna smiled. “I have no plans to go anywhere Sir, that’s a promise.”

" I will hold you to that promise." Sureth then added before leaving .

Watching Sureth go Shauna turned back to the window, resuming her stargazing.
