CAPERNUM: Meji Technology

Posted on Wed Jul 16th, 2025 @ 6:27pm by Captain Rogue "Ro" Green {Meji Master} {Flt. Cpt.}

Mission: CAPERNUM: {CD&MISSION} On Duty
Location: USS Capernum
Timeline: Current

ON:

Captain Green and her guest, Qeritas, finished their cigars and tossed them through the forcefield and out into space. The ventilation system and filters on the Capernum had easily kept up with the smoke, and only the slightest hint of the vanilla scented tobacco could be perceived.

Qeritas looked over to her left as she took in her Champion. Rogue had come a long way, much further than even she had anticipated. Now, with the Meji Order a thing, serving Starfleet and the Federation, there was a chance for an actual lasting peace throughout this corner of the galaxy. But, as with all sentient beings, there would always be tension and strife. One culture being upset and thinking another culture is stealing, overpowering, or any number of other childish reason for conflict. The sentient condition unfortunately. Well, for solid beings like Ro, that is. "Face the forcefield, Ro. Do not look back into shuttlebay two or I will turn your eyeballs into eye stalks." She got to her feet, herself continuing to face the forcefield.

Ro , hearing that, gave a grin and did as she was told; kept her eyes forward even as she stood and remained facing outer space. "Eye stalks? Really? That would be...creepy." She gave a giggle at the image in her mind.

"You have no idea," said Qeritas, grinning along with her pet and friend. "Something like Andorian antennae, except your beautiful blue eyes would be bulbous on the end of the stalks, with long black eyelashes to highlight just how silly they would look. And yes, before you ask, I am petty like that." It was her turn to giggle as she turned to get in next to Ro. "Close your eyes and let me guide you. Use the Force to steer yourself out of harms way."

Doing as instructed, having no reason not to trust the Q, Green did as she was asked-instructed, letting Qeritas reach out and grasp on of her elbows gently and guide her in turning around and walking a few meters back into the shuttle bay proper.

Qeritas gently pulled on the elbow to halt their progress even as she spoke. "Okay, you may stop and open your eyes." She pulled her hand away from Green's elbow and clasped her hands behind her back to wait for Ro's reaction.

Green halted her steps and opened her eyes, which grew wider at the sight before her. Once again Qeritas was showing her altruistic side, but this was at a whole new level. Her jaw slackened as she stood agape at what was before her in her auxiliary shuttle bay. Four T65AC4's, affectionately known as X-wings in the Pallean galaxy, stood on their landing gear within the bay. But, what caught her eye the most was that the one closest to her was, in fact, the very X-wing she had owned outright as a Jedi master. Without a word she walked forward and raised her right arm, laying her hand flat upon the underside of the nose of the variable fighter craft. As she walked along she let her hand run along the smooth metal of a ship she had never imagined she would ever see again. There was a great joy in her heart, so much so that it caused her to have to control herself to keep tears from forming in her eyes. She and this ship had been through a lot together, battles and travels from one side of a galaxy to another, with Cosmo her only companion for those journeys. Spinning to face Qeritas, her heart warm beyond reason, Ro gave a bow from the neck. "Thank you, Qeritas. You honor me more than you know."

Qeritas, on the rare occasion, felt deeper feelings for people than she normally let on. In this case she let it be known as she approached Rogue. "I know how much this honors you, Ro. Believe me, I do. If the Meji are to be a force for good and justice then they will need technology that is a cut above the ordinary. Through my own power I have tweaked these four ships to exacting standards. I suggest that only a trusted few ever get to examine them, under the guise of Meji technology and property. When the time is right then, and only then, should this technology be shared with the rest of the Federation. These four X-wings have both a micro warp core and a hyperspace motivator. With the touch of a key you can go from one to the other. I would not advise using them at the same time, however."

Green took in the information, her emotions and mind still taking everything in. At a loss for words she simply stepped in and gave Qeritas a warm, loving hug for the first time in their relationship. A warmth that their past embraces had lacked to a degree. Qeritas was now, and forever, a trusted being, a mentor, and a dear friend all in one. When she stepped back, finally having herself back under control, Green gave a crooked grin. "Hyperspace is not quite achieved here yet. Quantum slipstream is the closest thing, so far. Any other surprises that I should know about?"

"One other advantage I built into the fighter's systems. Well, built is the wrong word. I created for these fighters. Again," she gave another stern look. "A technology that is not to be readily handed out. Not yet. Understood?"

"Understood," Green replied. The way Qeritas was acting in regards to the technology had Ro that much more curious. "Are you going to tell me or do I start guessing?"

"Patience, Champion." Qeritas gave her a snarky grin as she said that. "Sheesh. So impatient. For a Meji master you would think you would work on that." She giggled when Green cocked her head in a cynical pose, waiting to hear about what she had asked. "Okay, okay. While out there in combat you can activate the countermeasures..."

"Countermeasures?" Green asked this, interrupting the Q, which got her a stink eye look. "Sorry, sorry. Go ahead."

Qeritas took in a sarcastic impatient breath before continuing. "Yes, countermeasures. When in combat, or any other time you think you'll need it, the countermeasures prevents weapons lock. This means that all enemies have to manually aim their weapons at you and track you through their own skills. And, with the X-wing being far more maneuverable than anything else out there it gives you a distinct advantage in the ability to survive encounters. However, the downside is that whenever the countermeasures are active you stand out like a beacon on sensors. It's a give and take but, one I think you can live with."

"Damn skippy," Green said with a smile, the two of them now standing and admiring the four new fighters aboard the USS Capernum. Of course, Ro knew she would have to report them to Starfleet so they could be listed as resources on the starship, but the Meji distinction would keep any further investigations from trying to take over. The Federation Council had agreed to those terms and she expected them to hold to the promise that Meji business and technology was just that: MEJI. No one had the right to force themselves into Meji affairs, period. "Thank you, Qeritas. This was quite a surprise."

"I told you to build an Order, to see it grow and flourish. You can't do that on good intentions alone. You'll need bodies, personnel, people from all walks of life willing to accept a life lived according to the Meji beliefs." Qeritas said, glad to see that Green had already brought the Order this far. As with all things in the world of solids, some things took time. "Before you is a region of space that has been under control of criminals for decades. A fully functional society with all the bells and whistles, and defenses, necessary to hold it. They could use a little change in perspective. I leave that to you."

Green made to respond, but the moment Qeritas had said that last she disappeared just like that. No goodbye, no special looks or gazes. Just...gone. "I'll never get used to that," Ro said to herself with a grin. She tapped her combadge. "Cosmo, it's Master, you there?" The droid speak came back at her. "Good. Bring Rollo and come to Shuttle bay two. I have a surprise to show you, little buddy." Cosmo responded excitedly, knowing that anytime his Master gave surprises it was usually something he would enjoy. "See you then. Green out." Closing the channel, Ro then looked around for a stair step so she could open her cockpit and view the interior of her old friend.
