Captain Sean Loewen was tired. Mentally and physically. The events over the past 48 hours had kept him on call and in his chair for most of it. On his way to his quarters, leaving T'Pri in charge as the Officer On Deck, Sean had checked with the computer to find out where Len was. The computer came back and informed him that she was in their quarters. Bringing up his palm PADD while in the lift, then stepping out into the corridor for his cabin, he stopped long enough to read Sickbay reports. No one had been lost, with some critical injuries needing further downtime. For the most part, the rest were suffering minor to serious injuries that were easily seen to by the medical staff. Thank you, God, he thought to himself. All patients were currently stable and undergoing further treatment. Putting the PADD back in his thigh pocket, Sean moved on and entered the Captain's cabin.
Upon entry, with the main room and kitchenette area the first to be seen, Loewen saw Len sitting at the breakfast bar. She must have arrived shortly before he did as she did not have a drink or meal before her. Her palm PADD was laying on the counter top as she had her head down and was massaging her temples with eyes closed. He had no doubts she had heard him enter since he was the only other person with access to the captain's quarters without chiming first. She looked as tired as he felt. Moving over behind her as she sat on the stool, Sean reached his hands up and placed them on her shoulders, and not getting any resistance, he began to massage her neck and shoulders gently. "It's been a rough day, babe."
Len nodded, "It's been a rough few days. At least no one died on our ship." She leans back into the massage.
"Hmm," a chuckle in the throat. "Not for lack of trying." His hands moved to the base of her neck, his fingers working to loosen the knots there. "Now, we aid with the station. After we both get some shuteye. T'Pri is seeing to the Bridge while Alpha shift gets some rest."
Len reached back and took his hands in hers, lifting them off her neck and she turns around. She let's go of his hands and gives him a hug around his waist. "Picking a Vulcan is a good choice when Humans get tired faster."
Sean gave her a peck on the lips. "My thoughts exactly." He had her lean into him, putting his arms around her so they embraced but could still look each other in the eyes. "How are you doing, Len? No hardships with all the stress lately?" He asked this in regards to her pregnancy, worried for both mother and child.
"The stress is light. But I have noticed that I get tired quicker than I normally do." She said with a smile.
Loewen gave a slight nod to that, his expression showing he had thought of something briefly. "Ken said the same thing about Ro." He smiled. "I have yet to meet a woman who says pregnancy is easy. Unless, of course, they lay eggs or something." Sean chuckled at his attempted humor on the subject.
Len laughed. "At least I haven't gotten morning sickness, so that is a bonus. Let's go to sleep before something else happens."
Sean agreed, stepping back and, unzipping his tunic. The garment was hung over the back of the stool, then his red shirt was removed and placed over the tunic. As Len was getting ready he went and sat on the foot of the bed on his side, giving a sigh of pleasure as he began to pull his boots off. Sitting in a captain's chair was one thing, but sitting down to completely relax was a whole other level. His black, sleeveless undershirt was still on, and his trousers as he laid back flat with his feet still on the floor. He looked over to see Len down to her own skivvies, admiring the view and smiling. "How did a guy like me end up so lucky?" Loewen asked rhetorically. "I mean, I ended up with the best looking gal in school."
"Well, you are quite handsome yourself." She said while laying down on her side next to him. Her augmentation has sped up her pregnancy more than normal. Where she should have been around 6 weeks, she was already at 25 weeks and their daughter was already moving within her. She took one of his hands and placed it on her rounded belly, where their daughter was kicking.
Sean enjoyed feeling his daughter moving now and then, his love for both mother and daughter growing each day. Sean stood and quickly removed his slacks and the undershirt. Getting back on the bed he lay on his side facing Len, his hand going back to rubbing her belly lightly to touch his wife, but also to feel the life of his daughter. "We still need a name," he smiled. "I've played with a few in my head but...I don't know. Any ideas, mom?"
"I have two names that I'm debating between, Cara or Selene. How about you?" She asked.
Sean's expression showed he considered her presented options. "Cara is a good name, but Selene just sticks with me better. So, that one is top of list. Cara still on the table. As for me I had considered Ashley, or Crystal." His eyebrows raised askance as to what she thought.
She looked into his eyes for a few minutes as she thinks, "How about Ashley Selene Loewen?"
Sitting up and spinning his butt to face her with his legs crossed, Sean gave a smile. "Sounds perfect. Ashley Selene...Ashley Selene. I think we landed, Love." He leaned in and kissed her.
She returned his kiss and gave him a sleepy smile. "It's a good name."
Loewen got off the bed and pulled the covers back on his side, sliding in to face his wife again. "You look as tired as I feel, Doctor. I think we can both do with several hours of sleep." He stifled a yawn and smiled. "See?"
Smiling at each other, Len adjusted her own body to get under the covers with Loewen spooning her from behind, arm over her waist to touch her belly as they both began to relax into sleep. What was to come in the near future was an unknown but Sean Loewen was exactly where he needed to be at this time in his life.
