< Main Sick Bay >

A few weeks had passed since the evacuation of M-69 with Williams and Stone helping out wherever they could with the sudden influx of patients; mostly from the Station. Finishing up with a patient, Doctor Williams looked over seeing the CMO standing with both hands on the edge of a counter and head down. Walking over "Doctor Preston, are you alright....you look exhausted" Ramvek inquired with some concern.

Looking up "Sorry Doctor Williams I guess this isn't very professional of me.....I think I'm starting to feel the effects of the sudden influx in patient traffic coming through Sick Bay" then he paused "As much as I hate to admit it.....I guess I'm not as young as I used to be" Preston replied with a half hearted grin. Doctor Preston looked to be in his late fifties with mostly grey hair and wrinkles on his face from years of the stress that comes being a Doctor and dealing with patients.

Williams knew the feeling only too well as a smile came across his face "I can empathize Doctor, believe me" then he paused a moment "Not to give orders in another Doctor's house but medically speaking you need to take the next twelve or so hours off and get some sleep; relax for a bit. It will not do your patients any good if their Doctor is not up to his full potential" he concluded.

Letting out a long sigh "Yes of course, you're diagnosis is correct Doctor Williams" as Preston paused a moment "I am grateful that you're here Doctor Williams and I'll gladly take your recommendation of much needed rest....that is if you wouldn't mind taking over and overseeing my Sick Bay in my absence."

"It would be my pleasure so you can get yourself back to one hundred percent efficiency; besides I have my Head Nurse here with me to help out.....she is very good at her job" Ramvek replied with a smile.

Then Doctor Preston walked into the middle of Sick Bay in a loud voice "Could I have everyone's attention for a moment please. It has been pointed out to me by a colleague that I require some rest so until I return Doctor Williams will be the CMO of this facility. Please do as he instructs and give him the same respect and hard work that you give me. That's all; you can return to your patients" he ordered. Turning to Ramvek "Thank you for the break and I'll see you in twelve hours" as he removed his medical coat then headed for the nearest Lift.

"Ok everyone continue on as you have. If you have any questions or need something please do not hesitate to ask" Williams stated with a smile.

Heidi walked over "I overheard your conversation with Doctor Preston and you're right the man desperately needs some rest" then a grin came across her face "And I also heard what you said about me so thank you Doctor; that mans a lot coming from you."

"You are welcome and I only speak the truth; I would be lost without your expertise on all kinds of different things" Ramvek replied with sincerity "So you up to helping me out for the next twelve hours until Preston returns?"

With a big smile "I wouldn't have it any other way.....besides how is this any different than back home" Heidi answered with a slight chuckle in her voice.

"Point taken Lieutenant Stone" he commented with a grin as the two Officers made Sick Bay their own; at least for the next twelve hours.

< Preston's Quarters >

Walking into his quarters Hank was totally exhausted with only one thing on his mind; sleep. Grabbing a quick water from the replicator he marched into his bedroom finishing his water on the way. Ripping off his clothes, down to his shorts, he tossed his dirty, smelly uniform on a nearby by chair then crawled into bed "Computer wake me in nine hours" figuring that would be ample sleep and still have time for a nice shower, which he desperately needed, still giving him a little time to relax before relieving the good Doctor Williams from duty.

Nurse Stone had just finished attending to a patient when another Nurse walked over "Excuse me Nurse might I have a quick word" she inquired with a smile.

Turning to the person speaking "Yes of course; what is it" Heidi replied returning the smile.

In a low voice "From one Head Nurse to another....how is Doctor Preston; I'm worried about him with all the hours he's been logging in these past few weeks."

"Nothing that eight hours of uninterrupted sleep won't cure; he's exhausted from working so much" Heidi replied trying to reassure the other Head Nurse.

"That's good to hear" then she paused "Your Doctor Williams seems to be a lot like Dr. Preston....he really cares about his patients."

"Yes he does" Heidi replied then continued "Almost to a fault. I can't tell you the number of times I've almost had to literally drag him out of Sick Bay to get some rest or if he was doing research for something that had him baffled" as she grinned.

After their conversation the hours flew by as everyone was quite busy attending to patients. Finally Doctor Preston returned looking bright and chipper as he walked over to Ramvek "Doctor Williams looks like everything is going smoothly in my absence" as a smile came across his face.

"Yes, things have been going pretty well and how do you feel now Doctor" Williams stated before his inquiry.

Grinning "That was just what a Doctor friend of mind prescribed.....I feel so much better so thank you for noticing and for your professional work in my absence; it really was a life saver" as Preston extended his hand.

Shaking hands with his colleague "You are welcome and it was my pleasure to help out" as a smile came across Ramvek's face.

"Now why don't you get out of here, and take Nurse Stone with you so both of you can get some rest and I'll see you both tomorrow and not a minute sooner" Preston stated with a chuckle.

"As you wish Commander Preston" Ramvek replied which was one order that he was more than happy to carry out. Walking over to Heidi "Our shift has concluded if you would like to get something to eat."

"Sounds like a plan Doctor and I'm famished, but let's go to my quarters; I really don't feel like changing to go out somewhere" Heidi replied with a smile.

"No me neither" Ramvek answered with a grin "Besides it is always nice to be alone with you" as the two Officers left for the day.

< Heidi's Quarters >

Walking inside "I'm going to go get out of this smelly uniform so please have a seat and make yourself comfortable" she stated with a grin. Ramvek did as requested as he sat thinking to himself "Oh ya, this feels so good to finally sit."

Minutes later Heidi exited her bedroom wearing a half-top with shorts. Looking up Ramvek noticed how nice she looked as he stood then walked up behind her putting his arms around her waist then kissed her neck before commenting "You look all kinds of sexy out of the uniform and dressed like you are."

Turning facing him "Thanks.....I think that's the first time you've used the word sexy to describe me and I rather enjoy the compliment" Heidi replied wondering what had gotten into Ramvek.

"My apologies....I should have complimented you like this a long time ago.....you are a very beautiful woman that I enjoy being with" he replied with sincerity in his voice.

Leaning in with a smile Heidi gave him a passionate kiss before asking "So what would you like to eat?"

"Something light....maybe a ham & cheese on rye bread with a few chips and a soda....if that sounds good to you" Ramvek answered.

"Works for me" Heidi stated "And we may as well take advantage of this table to eat our meal on rather than the couch like we usually do."

Minutes later the couple sat eating and discussing the day when Heidi asked "So tell me, how are you doing not being in charge of a Medical facility for once."

"It is certainly a nice change of routine" as he paused a moment "But I'd be lying if I did not say I was getting a little restless being away from the Station; it will be nice to be in our own area once again. And you seem to be holding up quite well."

With a grin "Only because I'm here with you and I agree it will be nice to get back home again" Heidi responded with a grin before taking care of the dinner aftermath. Looking at Ramvek "Would you like to go sit on the couch and relax for awhile.

Walking over to Heidi he gave her another passionate kiss "I have a much better place to relax" as he offered her his hand then led the way into the bedroom. Once there the two kept kissing while the clothing became strewn all over the floor. Minutes later the couple made love for the next little while.

Laying beside Ramvek, both completely naked, Heidi looked up at him "You know I think I like this version of you much better....it's like we're in a real relationship" she commented before giving him another kiss.

"I thought we were in a real relationship" then he paused a moment "I will endeavor to spend more time with you in this fashion from now on even when we return home" he replied feeling quite content.

"I'd like that" she replied as she smuggled up against him. Soon the day caught up to both of them as they fell fast asleep together.
