Mission:
STELLAR NURSERY
Location: USS Cascade -- Deveron Sector
Timeline: -- --
On:
Morgan Raymond, Doctor of Geological sciences and Vulcanology, with a minor in environmental chemistry and sciences was scanning over the mountains of data that the geology teams had collected too this point. His eyes scanned the rows of numbers, bar charts and scans. He sat back half from frustration half from mental fatigue, "Connor, this ring of dead plants and trees where is the longest extension from the caldera?"
Connor was looking at the orbital imagery he paused too call up the scan from earlier "Same area as the new uplift, it's also the area with the most noticeable change in ground temperatures."
"We're going too need to get the seismic sensors deployed to get a solid window on the eruption, think that Captain will still go for a ground mission?" Connor asked
"Not sure but I can't see him saying no to the shuttle launched sensors." Morgan said as he turned.
"Captain!" Connor called out "We have an adjusted plan."
"What have you got?" David said as he walked over.
"The shuttle launched seismic sensors might be our best bet on predicting the eruption, I've started a replot of the deployment I moved two of the sensors from the eastern most points too the southern area where the uplift happened which at this point is the most likely focal point of the eruption at this point." Morgan said as an animation played out behind him.
"Relay the changes too the shuttle, what else do you think needs to be done?" David asked
"One of the outer monitoring stations in section three will need to be reprogrammed with new monitoring parameters in case and when the eruption happens." Morgan said
"I sense a catch..." David said
"The monitoring station will have to be programmed in person to avoid disrupting the data feeds to the other ships." Sara said as she walked over "So that means I have to beam down?"
Morgan spoke "Unfortunately."
David looked to Sara, "How long would you need?"
"Fifteen minutes should be enough." Sara said gleefully
"Transporter or shuttle?" David said looking to the other scientists
"The monitoring station in question is in an open field on the ridge above the caldera, there's no signs of anything that will cause transporter issues." Connor said then added "I have the code and parameter changes." he said handing over an isolinear chip.
"I can be there and back in nothing." Sara said sounding over confident.
"I'll go with you just so there's someone to keep any eye on things." David said
"Engineer Watson you have the bridge." David said as he and Sara walked too the turbolift.
