The hum of the turbolift and the racing thoughts were his only companions as he felt the urgency of the situation, time was now the enemy. David had given the order too get ready, and the next matter was protocol, one he didn't in these circumstances he didn't want to waste time either, lives were at risk. USS Roswell had missed a number of check-in's in a part of space while not actively contested had not been in open conflict for several decades, now the clock was ticking and time was not on his side, as the lift slowed David tried to focus on the moment. The door hissed open, David looked around seeing him near his office, "Sir we have a situation!" he called out heading in his general direction.

" What's going on Commander?" Sureth replied as he opened his office door for both to enter.

"We got reports that the USS Roswell has missed multiple check in's while on a mission through the Neberite corridor, The Cascade is the closest ship in the area, I've sent requests for additional ships but the closest ships are three to four days away and we can be there inside of three hours." David reported.

" Certainly Commander. The new shields should make the corridor more manageable. What will you need for this mission?" Sureth replied.

"If things go the way I hope they will we won't need them, The Gorn haven't been very active, the Kzinti and Lyran have both been quiet, no one has seen the Hydran's in five plus decades so hopefully this is just a system malfunction of some kind and we can give them a tow." David said.

" The Hydrans? That is a name I haven't heard in years. Commander take whoever you need on this mission." Sureth replied.

"We're fully staffed now, my helm officer is going over the mission plan we have a copy of," David paused "We're also going to have to keep the Klingons in the dark until we know what has happened, I don't want to start a war."

That would be hard as a member of the crew was also of the house of the closest Klingon colony to them.

" God speed Commander." Sureth said not meaning to be holistic.

"Thank you sir." David said turning to leave.
