A Visit to the Doctors

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 09/26
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current
It had been a busy morning for Lireh. Several appointments, pretty much back-to-back. All very productive, so that wasn't the issue. The issue was that she had not had a break. Her next appointment wasn't for 2 hours, so she decided to take a good break, but first, she did need to visit the CMO, being a new member of staff and everything that came with that.
After leaving her office, she made her way, slowly, towards sickbay. On arrival, she approached the doors, which slid swiftly open as she entered the very brightly lit room. Her eyes adjusted to it quickly. She noted that sickbays always seemed to be brighter-lit places than most other areas of ships and stations.
She looked around the room. She wasn't entirely sure what the CMO looked like. She just knew their name: Ramvek Williams.
Hearing the doors to Primary Sickbay open, Doctor Williams looked up, seeing a young woman in a science teal uniform standing and looking around. With a smile, he approached "Hello, I am Doctor Ramvek Williams. How may I help you?" he inquired.
Lireh turned and smiled. "Ah, Doctor, I am Lieutenant Lireh Vin. I am one of the new counsellors on the station. I regret that, in my eagerness to get down to work, I have neglected to come for my first physical and general wellness check. I do apologise for that. My eagerness can get the better of me from time to time."
Having been needing to speak to Doctor Williams for over a week now, instead selfishly pursuing her own amorous feelings for Lt. Resch, Yui entered the Sickbay complex by the main entrance. Seeing the Doctor currently standing and conversing with another officer in medical colors, young Miss Kudo decided to step off to the side and wait. Yui clasped her hands behind her back, wearing her dark blue body suit with armored and electronic portions added in all the right places. Her eyes took in all of Sickbay that she could see, her gaze moving as her head slowly turned to accommodate. Her tail swished back and forth casually behind her, her ears turning this way and that of their own volition as they began to take in the unfamiliar sounds within Sickbay.
"Nothing wrong with being eager when your duties are concerned as long as it does not put your health at risk" as he paused for a moment "But considering why you are here I doubt that is an issue. I can do your boarding physical now if you have the time" Williams suggested.
"I have plenty of time at the moment, Doctor. So I'd be grateful if you could. " Lireh replied.
"No problem. Why don't you lie back on this bio-bed and I will get started; should not take very long" Ramvek responded as he grabbed his scanning device out of his lab coat pocket.
Lireh clambered onto the bio-bed, made herself comfortable and relaxed.
" Quite comfortable. I will try not to fall a sleep." She said jokingly.
Seeing the female officer mount a biobed and lay back, Yui could only figure that she was due for her transfer physical as per Starfleet regulations. Having a mother and father who were career officers themselves, had Yui in the know about such things. But, not able to help herself, and seeing this opportunity as a gift from the August Mistress at the Center of Heaven, Yui stepped forward. "Excuse me, Doctor Williams? Yui Kudo," she stated as she stepped up to the other side of the biobed from the CMO. "I know it's just a physical, but would you be opposed to my assistance?" She gave a bow of greeting to both officers even as she waited for a response.
Looking up at this young woman with a smile "I usually do not allow civilians to assist in such matters" as Ramvek paused "And who might you be" he inquired seeing she seemed to not be bashful.
Taking what Williams said in stride, not taking it as a slight against her, Yui went into explanation. "I'm Yui Kudo, Doctor. Daughter of Captain Ro Kudo and Commander Ken Kudo. I've been away from M-69 for some time, studying various scientific disciplines with experts in the Quazi Concordium and a few here in the UFP." She pulled her palm PADD out of a thigh pocket and accessed some data files quickly before her eyes came back up. "I'm interested in serving here in your Sickbay. My medical training is on file with the UFP, along with my other science interests. I've had minor practical application in medical, but I am seeking to expand that knowledge." Yui gave Lireh a nod and grin since the poor woman was having to sit through what was essentially a job interview, feeling her cheeks blush slightly at how she must look while delaying the woman's presence.
" Ultimately it's your call Doctor but I'm quite happy for Yui to help you with my check up. " Lireh said chiming in.
With a grin "I have to say your credentials are impressive and we can always use another pair of hands in Medical" as he thought for a moment before handing Yui the scanning device "As long as the Lieutenant is willing, let us see how you handle a routine boarding physical" Williams responded standing back to giver Yui some room.
Lireh smiled. "Over to you then, Yui."
Tapping her PADD off, Yui slid it into her thigh pocket and then took up a medical tricorder. Activating the device and tying it in with the biobed the Lieutenant was laying on, the bio-readings began to bleep and show the vitals above Lireh's head. "Wow, you're very healthy, Lieutenant. Are you a joined Trill? If so, has your symbiont ever reacted badly to bio-scans?"
"I am. As far as I know, my symbiont hasn't had any negative reactions to bio scans, either with myself or past hosts." Lireh replied.
"Says here...wait," said Yui, stopping what she was doing to look the Lieutenant in the eye. "My apologies. I am Yui Kudo. And, your name, Lieutenant?" The name was on the medical file for the Trill woman, but having a patient talk always made them tend to relax more.
"Vin, Lireh Vin. " She replied.
Giving a slight bow at the waist, Yui gave a warm grin. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lireh. Your file says your symbiont does not react badly to transporters, as some have demonstrated over the years." The tricorder kept giving a very slight humming sound as it scanned the Trill, and when done with the quick scan, Yui tapped the device off and folded it up, placing it on the device tray near to the bed. "All scans show you to be hearty and healthy, Miss Lireh. If the Doctor agrees, I find you to be ready for duty." Her eyes went back and forth casually between Williams and Vin, with Yui still grinning pleasantly.
"I concur with your scans Miss Kudo; very well done" Ramvek responded with a smile before turning his attention "Lieutenant looks like you passed your exam with flying colors" as he paused a moment collecting his thoughts "Just so you are aware, even though the Counselor's duties fall under the medical umbrella, I do not interfere with your day to day routines unless directed to intervene by your Chief. I am not a counselor...not by any the stretch of the imagination nor do I intend to be."
"I understand, Doctor and thank you Yui. Good job done. I assume I am ok to hop off the bio-bed and get back to work?."
Yui gave a grinning nod to that. "Of course, Miss Lireh. Like Doctor Williams, my psychology training only goes so far for the bedside manner. I would be most grateful if I could, on occasion, pick your brain for further instruction."
" Oh absolutely, I'm sure we can arrange something. Let me get back you on that. " Lireh replied.
"Absolutely and it was very nice to meet you Lieutenant Vin and if you ever need anything please do not hesitate; have a good rest of your day" Ramvek commented with a smile.
" Likewise. Hope you have a fruitful day."
Turning his attention, "So, Miss Kudo, let me know what days you will be available for medical, and I will have you work with my Head Nurse Lieutenant Heidi Stone; at least for a little while. She is very good at her duties, and you can learn a lot from her," Williams explained.
Yui could not help but smile. "Thank you, Doctor Williams; that is most gracious of you. My schedule is open, and I don't have to sleep, so doing the overnights for Gamma shift, I am willing to fill as needed. Also, I am hoping to get involved with Commander Rivers and the Science department."
Thinking for a few moments, "Sure, that is the one shift that is often times hard to fill" as he paused "And I do have some very good Nurses that I can pair you with for a short period of time" Williams answered "Sounds like you are going to be a busy individual but please do not spread yourself too thin."
Lireh got off the bio-bed. "I will leave you to discuss this further. I have an appointment in 20 minutes that I need to prep for. Hope to see you both again soon. "
Lireh then left sickbay, heading back to her office.
Yui bade Lireh goodbye as she departed, hoping to see the Counselor again. She had been serious about learning more in the psychology field. Like her mother Ro, Yui's goal was attaining a PhD in emergency medicine. She was happy to get an opportunity to apply her skills in a more practical fashion within Sickbay. "I'm just glad to take part, Doctor Williams. I'll make the Quazi physiology and biology data available to the department since I'm not the only one aboard. My records are slightly different so, they will be provided as well. Again, thank you."
"Yes your medical records would be helpful especially if there are things that are unique to you personally. You are welcome Yui and I look forward to having you as part of our team" Ramvek replied with a sincere smile.
Yui returned the smile with warmth. "Well, then, I'll come by tomorrow. Thank you for the time to listen, Doctor, always appreciated. I hope the rest of your day goes well." Giving a bow, Yui then turned and departed Sickbay.
