As agreed to, Yui had caught up with Cait as the temple Matron was leaving the Celestial Grove. Jaz had sent Yui a text, asking if now was a good time to come over to her place and visit and Yui responded that it was fine, and for her to show up at a specific time so they could both surprise Sally and Cait with Jaz being a permanent resident for the M-69 facility when not aboard the USS Diligent. "I'm ready to commune with the metaphysical." Said Cait as she and Yui came into the main room proper, with throw pillows and furs and blankets scattered about. A proper sleep-over set up even though all three of them lived together.
Salwah grins lazily at the suggestion, smacking her ample butt with her tail. "Well... I was about to light up another round for myself. You need enough to get a good density of smoke, but that usually means it's too much for a single person, so I can't justify it to myself while alone. But with Caitriss and you here, I guess I have an excuse, don't I?"
How generous of her, Yui mused with a big grin.
"Nonsense. Caitriss' here, you're here, and three is a party. The little bit of extra spice is worth it just to have the pleasure of your company."
Cait laughs and pats her junior on the head, right between the ears. "You're laying it on thickly today, Sally. I'm not a supplicant that you need to turn on the soothing platitudes towards me... or am I?"
"Now, if you'll give me a moment, I'll get this all together."
It's an experience watching Salwah refill her hookah — after setting her mouthpiece on the recliner, she opens a small hatch in the hookah's upper bowl and draws out a thin metal plate. It might have once been copper or bronze, but now is stained with various shades of red and brown; the comfy cat sets this on a side table and gets out a padded case from a drawer, from which she draws out three flexible tubes with metal mouthpieces.
"Don't worry about them being clean, the mouthpieces have to be boiled in water before I put them away," she quips. "Now to tend to the spice plate. Could you fill the water bowl while I get that done? There's a jug on the plinth over by the temple entrance; fill up the bottom bulb to the mark on the glass."
As Yui hurries to comply, Salwah gets out a glass shaker of spice from the drawer and unscrews the cap. She gives the lid a deep sniff, sighing huskily and longingly at the scent of the heavy reddish-brown powder; a woozy smile still on her face, she thumps the shaker and sends an even dusting of spice powder atop the metal plate.
"Ah, smells good," the chocokitty says with a chuckle as she slides the spice plate back into the hookah and slams the hatch shut. "The spice must flow, and it sure flows well — nothing worse in the world than caked spice powder. How's the water looking?"
Yui is just about done — the floral pattern on the stained glass making things a little hard to see, but She's done. After making sure everything's in order, Salwah dumps a few crumbs of charcoal into the upper bowl beneath the spice plate and gives Cait a smile.
"Caitriss, would you do the honors?"
Grinning from ear to ear, Cait slinks down from the sofa to take up position on the rug, selecting a mouthpiece for herself. "Gladly. It's been a while since I did this, and even longer since we did this together, Sally."
"I'll leave a space open for a straggler." Sally says. Even as she says that the door chime sounds. Sally lookes up at the door with a bit of frustration and a slightly negative tone of voice. "Now, who could that be?"
Standing up, Yui gives the other two a big smile. "Cover your eyes and don't peek until I tell you to look." Both the other kitties looked at each other, then back to Yui. They shrug and follow along, both hoping this little game will bare good fruit. With eyes covered completely, Yui then goes and opens the door, giving the one finger for Jaz to remain quiet. Once the door shuts completely, Yui announces to the toehrs. "Okay, uncover."
Both the pink kitten and the chocokitty dropped their hands from their eyes, a moment of confusion still in their gazes before their eyes and brains catch up with the fact that another Catfolk stood in their main room. Both gals squealed in delight and got up quickly to smother Jaz in cuddling hugs and kisses to her cheeks. "Jaz!" This came from both of them in their own time and way, getting a brief story as to how she was here even as she removed her footwear and dressed down to her knickers to sit within the circle. Sally gathered what was needed for Jaz to partake and handed the items over.
Cait pauses, then hangs her head as her smile turns rueful. "Ah, right. Well, let's get this started."
The pink kitten, Cait, mumbles a chant under her breath, and the fine charcoal suddenly bursts into gentle flame. Before long, the surrounding air fills with a heavy, calming scent, sweet and spicy at the same time. Yui cannot help but take in great big mouthfuls of the stuff, and a pleasant albeit faint buzz starts up in the back of her head, helping her muscles relax.
"Come on, Yui. Take up your mouthpiece."
The soft bubbling of red spice smoke through cooling water is something to behold. Even as Yui stares at it through the glass, mesmerised, Salwah opens a decanter of white wine and pours a small glass each for all of you, dusting the surface with a sprinkling of spice. She hands one to Yui, one to Cait, one to Jaz and keeps the last for herself, the four of them settling side by side on the recliner. Just four cats getting euphoric, in full, glorious view of anyone entering the living room of their quarters.
"I've tried several local wines Manny has, and this one's best with the smoke. Inhale first, then take a sip." Sally instructed.
Yui chances a glance at Cait, who's already huffing away at the mouthpiece. Drawing away, the pink kitten exhales, sweet spicy scents pouring from her lips, and a dreamy smile spreads across her face. Her ears fold forward and to the sides, and her tail swishes lazily atop the recliner's heave cushion.
"MallaQ's balls," she says with a sigh. "I needed this."
Salwah grins and gives her senior a kiss on the cheek. "The stuff I brought from home's long since run out. Good thing that the locals don't really know what mantiwa nip is, so I can get it cheaply."
"No meeting without parting."
"No joy that doesn't fade."
Closing her eyes, Cait throws her head back and raises the mouthpiece to her lips for another deep draw of the spice smoke. Salwah's smile turns a little sad, and she gives her senior's brow a gentle brush with her fingertips before parting.
Well, nothing for it. Yui and Jaz raise their own metal mouthpieces, steady themselves, and inhale. The heavy smoke first invades their mouths, leaving their tongues tingling, then rushes down their throat and into their lungs. For a moment, there is the instinct to cough and sputter, but that soon passes as their muscles relax and nothing seems to matter very much anymore. Sure, they feel calm and carefree, but it doesn't come with the dulled senses characteristic of winterstem use; instead, everything seems so much more bright and clear; both can practically envision their thoughts speeding through their minds in that one moment — and then they pull away from the mouthpiece and exhale.
...Wow. And this is the normal stuff — wonder what the concentrated, narcotic spice Jassiran MallaQites use when they want to open their minds to MallaQ feels like...
"Feels good, doesn't it?" Salwah purrs from beside Yui. Spice-scented smoke rises from her nostrils as she flashes a grin, then takes a sip of the spiked wine. "Being able to see, think, hear and feel in so much more detail. It — aaaah."
That has to be the most contentment and pleasure Jaz ever heard condensed into a single sigh. Eyes half-lidded, Salwah melts into a tanned puddle atop the recliner, dark emerald eyes fixed on the wineglass before her. Looks like the spice has just shorted out her brain. Not that Cait's much better — as Yui and Jaz watch, the pink kitten downs all her spiced wine in a single gulp and flops over onto her back, eyes staring up at the main room's high ceiling as she huffs steadily from the hookah's mouthpiece.
Next round, then. Yui takes a sip of the spiced wine, letting its bittersweet taste wash over her tongue and mix with the smoke, then raises the mouthpiece and take another drag. This time the smoke is smooth and subtle despite its heaviness, her relaxed body barely putting up any kind of fight as it slips down her throat and settles heavily in her lungs. Oh shit, oh shit, everything's starting to feel really gooood and Yui cannot be bothered to care about much anymore... there is still a half-glass of spice-sprinkled wine left in her glass, and she gives that a hefty gulp before settling back against the foot of the sofa to enjoy the scent of spice. The explosion of intense flavor on her tongue sears her mouth as the divine liquid runs down her throat, and her insides tie themselves in knots — in a good way — as she and Jaz's bellies heat up in earnest. Soft moaning and mewling from either side of you draws your attention — Cait and Salwah are getting at each other, the temple sluts pawing at each others' clothes over Yui's lap; perhaps she should join them in their amorous fun, but that would mean leaving her mouthpiece unattended and besides, her body, like Jaz's, feels all heavy and runny, like molten cheese...
...Where did that comparison come from, anyway? And why is the world so bright, hued in such vivid detail, with lines and shadows leaping out at Jaz from their own darkness? Wow, what a whole new perspective on the world; Jaz sure her mind is sloshing over with inspiration and fresh ideas, given how she can feel them roiling about in her skull! Now, if only Jaz could just remember what they were...
How much spice has she inhaled, anyway? It certainly is a lot stronger and fast-acting than if Jaz had drank it. Maybe there's something about burning it that makes it all the more —
— Jaz never gets to finish that thought before passing straight out on the recliner, the sounds of two hungry kittens messily pawing at and slobbering all over each other lulling her into unconsciousness.
Yui and Jaz, both awoke at roughly the same time, a pleasurable groan rising from within themselves as they sat up. Cait and Sally were snuggled together, their clothing items scattered atop the recliner and sofa as they had been amorous while the other two had simply passed out for inner reflection. "It has been a a while," said Jaz in a quiet tone. "Usually while others enjoyed, I stayed sober to watch over Chancellor Barney. Feels good to just be able to let go."
Yui reached out and took Jaz's hand in one of hers. "I'm so glad you're here, Jaz. I don't know you like the others do, but I can see why my two besties think highly of you."
"And, I them." Jaz said with a grin even as her eyes passed over the two sleeping kitties, all wound about each other in blissful rest. "I do remember you stating that more Quazi were going to be coming out. To live on M-69 and be a part of the population. Anyone I know?"
"Hitoshi Ishida, and his entire business, will be moving to M-69 as civilian residents. What was once Club Bliss is changing to the Catspaw lounge, nightclub, and restaurant." Yui explained. "Toshi will be the head chef and manager of the kitchen and, since he does know how to cook a wide variety of dishes from all over the galaxy, should make a difference for the dining exparience. That, and a stage will remain for shows, performances, or just an open mic night that springs up unannounced."
"When in port, sounds like a place I would love to spend free time in." Said Jaz. "Proper sitting on the floor to dine?" She asked.
"Yes," responded Yui. "Diners can have that, or we can adjust tables for actual chairs. Either way, the food is prepared for real, even if some items will be replicated food matter. Manny and I are still looking for merchant captains willing to haul food stores of fresh veggies and fruits for the culinary delights."
Jaz gave that a few moments of thought. "I have a friend who will haul anything so long as he gets paid for it. He's as greedy as he needs to be but rarely does he rip off an employer who has earned his trust and respect."
Yui gave a smiling nod. "That would be most helpful, Jaz. If he decides to stop by M-69, tell him to talk to Manny at the Catspaw for all the business details."
Jaz had gotten up, beginning to slide on her clothing as the spice was clearing from her mind. "Thanks for the invite to spice night. But, a new starship means a new list of priorities. I don't want to leave Doctor Volt holding the bag when it comes to fine tuning work details."
Yui was also getting dressed. "I always imbibe less than these kittens." Having said that, and both now dressed in the uniform of the day, the two Catfolk stepped out into the corridor. "I'm heading for Sickbay. You?"
Jaz gave a grin. "The Diligent. Captain said we would be here right around a week. I want to finish what I need to do and then have some free time to just wander. I'll see you later, Yui." Saying goodbye, Yui turned and went her way even as Jaz chose her own path for her destination.
