While the senior officials were on the away team and USS Bohr was dispatched to save them life had to go on for those remaining. The junior class was in command of Starbase Mercury.

At OPS Ensign Sayvek manned the science station as other assumed the other stations.

Lt Commander Jessica O'Neal and Lt Odac Yova remained in engineering studying the large chunk of carbon diamond .

" Commander the pressure readings on these fragments are extremely high. " Odac told O'Neal. " But I believe this is just part of a casing unit."

Kitten was in her office at the Cat's checking the day's receipts, the restaurant had only been open a few days but already it was showing promise. It was still operating in the red but she knew that would change once everyone discovered it. The menu was simple, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos and soft drinks.

Despite the business of the day the beings known as Brol and Raven strolled into the Cat's place and looked around.
" Welcome Kitten Dawson to Starbase Mercury. I am of Brol this is Raven. " Brol said introducing another biopedal tree creature. " We do not ingest humanoid substance but did wish you greetings to this station."

Kitten blinked several times as the talking tree addressed her. She'd never seen or heard of a talking tree being "Thank you for the welcome. I must admit I've never seen or heard of your species. Back home trees can't talk let alone walk."

" I am unique . Raven is a hybrid. We are a kind. Please visit the arboretum sometime Kitten Dawson." Brol added.

Kitten looked at the two talking trees "What do you mean Raven is a hybird?"

" Raven is a grafted being half Brol and half of an alien tree creature. Dr Calian McGregor created Raven on the planet Savai and brought Raven to the station to be a companion for me. " Brol replied. " Why are you here?"

"I own this restaurant," Kitten said "I serve, Pizza, Nachos, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries and soft drinks. I've not been to the planet, but if there are talking and walking trees I may not go there. I'm sorry this is very unusual for me. Back home trees do not walk or talk,"

Brol, being telepathic, sensed Kittens concerns and slowly glided Raven backwards out the door. Passing by Ensign Sayvek who entered next.

" I would like to place an order please. 2 Cheeseburgers and 2 sodas. Not for myself but rather for the engineers who are working on the probe project." the young Vulcan ordered.

Kitten looked startled as the two trees walked from her restaurant. Turning her attention to the customer "What would you like on the cheeseburgers and what kind of sodas would you like and any french fries or nachos?"

Sayvek had Kitten the small padd with the order.
" The works and cokes?"

"I'll have it right out," Kitten said as she headed for the kitchen and returned a short time later with the order, it was packaged in a bag that had the picture of a cat on it. "Here you go, I cooked it myself."

" I am sure it will meet their desires." Sayvek replied.

"I'm sure it will," Kitten said
