Mission: IT'S A KLINGON THING {CD&Missions}
Location: various
Timeline: Current

ON:

Sitting at home within the confines of the Great Hall of House Kehlani, Matriarch Kehlani sat upon her throne and saw to the daily meetings and needs of the Kor'Kang colony. Her abdomen was beginning to show a paunch due to her pregnancy, and as of late she had began to place a protective hand over it while sitting comfortably. Klingon gestation was only seven months, so in a little over five months their son would be born. Kehlani had decided on his name. Higan (pronounced HE-gun). The first born and heir to House Kehlani. The large double doors that marked the entryway to the Great Hall stood open with a forcefield keeping out the cold winds and drifting snow, as it was now winter here on Kor'Kang.

As she sat reading from a report PADD, a commotion at the entrance caused Kehlani to pause in her reading and look up. A group of a dozen armed males came in, their weapons sheathed. Even with a non-combative stance from the colonists the inner sentries all took a step forward and placed their hands on the various weapons they carried, with two of them coming over to stand close to the Matriarch.

Once the group of colonists stood before the dais they all gave nods of respect and greeting, with one of them speaking up for them all. "My Lady. There is trouble out in the lowlands. Armed bandits are raiding the smaller villages and stealing needed winter supplies."

Kehlani got to her feet, her face showing that she was not pleased by this news. "Who is responsible?"

The male before her looked nervous as she stood, but being a Klingon he remained where he was and stood tall. Even Klingon farmers and villagers, not of the warrior class, were still Klingons. "We do not know. The reports are...incomplete. Some say they are Klingons, others say that they come in the night, hooded and cloaked with face wrappings. They kill villagers in their sleep, paint themselves in their blood, and then raid as they attack."

Kehlani looked to the guard on her right. "Find Kozar. Have him report to me immediately!"

"Yes, my Lady." The sentry moved away quickly.

The Matriarch's eyes returned to the brave villagers before her. "How long has this been going on?"

The dozen men conferred for a few moments, coming to an agreement. "Around two weeks, now. We thought it was just a small incursion, someone needing supplies they did not have. Only recently have the raids become violent and murderous."

"We will look into this," Kehlani promised. "Gather your transports over at the colony warehouse district. Your House will provide what you have lost. Arm your villagers and tell them to combat these bandits with all that they have. Warriors will be dispatched to aid them."

"You honor us, Matriarch. We will gladly kill these petaQ! For the supplies, you have our gratitude." With that said, and bows from the neck given, the men departed.

Kozar, the House Steward, entered the Hall and approached his Matriarch. "What is so urgent, my Lady?"

Kehlani gave Kozar the story, and the orders she wanted to convey in how to deal with it. "I will don my armor and go out and see for myself. You will stay here and keep the Great Hall functioning. Contact Lord Marz and inform him of the situation and see if he can return anytime soon. Get to it!" Her directives given, Kehlani marched out of the main hall and went into the side chambers of the Great Hall. Kozar began to issue the orders she had given, and within minutes he was in a communications chamber contacting the IKS 'Iwghargh. After going through a subordinate, Lord Marz finally appeared on screen from within his Ready Room.

"nuq neH," Marz inquired.

"My Lord, we have a situation here on Kor'Kang. Lady Kehlani said to catch you up on the happenings here." Kozar gave the lowdown, seeing the face of his Patriarch becoming hardened, his eyes squinting slightly in anger, their gaze one of focus and purpose. "'Iwghargh will depart for home immediately. Tell Kehlani we are on our way. Pass on a message for me, Kozar. May she die well."

Kozar gave a nod to that. "Of course, Lord. Qapla'." The transmission was ended by Marz.

As soon as he had ended the transmission, Marz got to his feet and walked out to the Bridge. He saw his Bridge crew, most of them, updating the data in their systems. Also, he saw Lieutenant Gavin being instructed by Kehzza. "Recall the crew! We are heading home immediately. Lieutenant Gavin, your real time training begins this day. Prepare for departure! Move!"

The crew began to scramble to do their duties. Gavin could see that Marz meant business, and not being familiar with the Klingon way of life, he had to just go with the flow and do his duty. Kehzza placed a solid, supportive hand on his shoulder, speaking in a low tone but by no means whispering. "His tone denotes duty. Do as I have instructed and prepare the ship for departure. I will not leave your side. Get to it."

Giving a nod of understanding, Gavin got to work, only needing to ask a question here and there. By the time the crew was all back aboard, and the ship was ready to depart, Gavin felt confident he could do his job without further query.

Marz sat in his command chair. "Helm, prepare for reverse thrusters. Comms, let M-69 know we're departing and request a departure vector."

Gavin tapped his controls with speed and efficiency, the reverse thrusters ready on standby. The command pod was nose in to a docking ring, so all they had to do was back away enough to be clear for maneuvering. It was announced that a departure vector had been assigned and they were cleared to disembark, Marz gave the order to back away. Gavin again manipulated his console with practiced hands and the Kor-class Bird of Prey smoothly slid backwards in space.

"Helm, follow the departure vector provided by the Starbase." Marz ordered.

Switching from thrusters to one-quarter impulse, Gavin swung the nose around and began to head out along the designated lane for departure. It surprised him how maneuverable the Bird of Prey was, like flying a runabout, and he could not help but give a crooked smile as he piloted. "Following the vector, HoD. We will be clear for warp in approximately four minutes."

"majQa'." Said marz.

Kehzza leaned down over Gavin's shoulder, bearing her own crooked grin. "Is something amusing, Lieutenant?"

Still watching his station, Gavin glanced at her as he spoke, his smile getting a little bigger. "I'm just impressed with how this ship maneuvers. Nothing pleases me more than a ship that can run up and punch you in the face, and then dodge out of the way during a counter-attack. This assignment only gets better by the hour."

Giving him a few healthy slaps to his shoulder, Kehzza responded. "maj (good). I can't wait to throw you around the training room."

As Gavin went to respond his station gave a light bleeping, which he shut off and spoke up for his CO. "HoD, we have reached the outer markers. We are ready for warp speed."

Marz was pleased to hear it. "Excellent. Set course for the Kor'Kang colony at warp four."

Gavin's hands did the work efficiently. "We are set for warp at your command, HoD."

"maqcha (engage)." Ordered Marz.

Tapping the key to engage the warp drive sent the IKS 'Iwghargh into light speed as it headed for its home port.
