KLINGON #9: Arrival at Kor'Kang

Posted on Tue Oct 29th, 2024 @ 5:30pm by Lieutenant Marz & Lieutenant JG Gavin Lasso

Mission: IT'S A KLINGON THING {CD&Missions}
Location: IKS 'Iwghargh (Bloodsport)
Timeline: Current

ON:

The IKS 'Iwghargh dropped from warp and began to enter the Kor'Kang star system. Gavin was at Helm, with Kehzza nearby at another station as she monitored readings from several other departments. In Starfleet she could be thought of as an Operations officer, Gavin mused, but the Klingon Defense Force had no such designation for officers. She was, in their eyes, a helm officer who also had training in sciences and engineering. Hence, why she had attained the position of supervisor over the helm personnel, and in that position, had the right to order subordinates around to see to other things if their duty allowed for it through their own department.

"Finally, the sights of home," said Marz as he sat in his chair. "Send our identification codes and have the Hall prepare for my arrival."

"Yes, HoD." The orders were obeyed.

Time went by as the Bird of Prey zoomed through the system, veering lazily around moons and worlds to get to the planetary seat of House Kehlani. There, dead ahead through the viewport, a small green-blue world began to get closer. Marz did not ask for it to be magnified, instead finding pleasure in seeing it grow larger as every minute passed. He felt his chest swell with pride, his heart gearing up as it should for the love of home and hearth. If his mate was not there to greet him he would not be pleased. If that were the case, there better be a damn good reason as to why.

"Helm, begin approach vector. We are going to land on the surface. Kehzza, tell them to get the Great Hall landing pad ready for our arrival."

Both Gavin and Kehzza acknowledged the orders and followed them. The chance to fly this frigate through the atmosphere got Gavin excited. He had rarely had the chance to fly larger starships in atmo, and this would be a special occasion, considering how maneuverable the BoP was in space. Time passed and it was time for atmosphere entry. Gavin angled the nose just right, setting the deflectors to offset the friction heat on the hull, and began to descend. As he suspected, with the design of the BoP, it performed magnificently in atmosphere. Maneuvering thrusters combined with repulsors made the flight adjustments that much easier, and as he began to level off as the 'Iwghargh broke through a patch of clouds, the viewport showed the Great Hall and the city around it directly ahead, and below, the ship. Seeing the landing pad visually, and on his monitors, Gavin swept in and gave a sharp turn, lifting the wing struts as the landing gear came down. The thrusters created a buffeting wind below, backed by the repulsors to offset the weight of the ship while it came down and settled onto the permacrete and stone landing pad. There was nary a bump as the ship settled, the landing gear hissing loudly as the weight settled on them. The IKS 'Iwghargh was now safely landed on Kor'Kang.

"Excellent piloting, Gavin. majQa'." Said Marz. "Put all systems on standby and let the ground crews see to the ship. K'vin, have the crew assemble in the Great Hall for bloodwine and news about our troubles."

"It will be done, HoD." Answered K'vin, seeing to the orders immediately.

Once the ship was settled and the orders given, Gavin shut down the helm console and put it on standby. He stood up and turned to leave the Bridge, coming up short as Marz stood in his face.

"I see you like the weapons my mate suggested," Marz said, using the back of his hand to tap an axe head. "I have my own set and find them most agreeable." He patted his own axes.

Gavin smiled. "It is in my ancestry to carry such weapons. That, and they are quite useful as both tool and weapon."

"That they are." Marz said, getting them turning and walking towards the doors off the Bridge since they had to disembark out of an aft hatch while landed. "You are proving yourself useful and capable, Gavin. It has been little over a day and already I hear rumors of your fellowship with others. Especially Kehzza." He did not go to whispers, but even Klingons leaned towards one another when a conversation should be a bit more private. "Are you sure you can handle such a woman?" He gave a laugh, his eyes full of Mirth as he gave a knowing grin.

Not wanting to take anything for granted between himself and Kehzza, Gavin gave his own crooked grin. "That remains to be seen, Marz. It is something I had not considered, having just met her, but I am not opposed to the idea."

Marz laughed again and put a brotherly arm over his shoulders and shook him like an old friend. "Keep in mind. It is the scent of the woman that tells of her readiness to mate. Such an aroma is a sure sign that you have been chosen by her. That her attentions are aimed at you, not at another. Train that nose of yours, Lieutenant. Many things can be discerned by the simple act of smelling, in many circumstances." His arm was lifted from the shoulders and brought back to his side.

Gavin had to admit that his olfactory senses had been in overdrive over the past 36 hours. Certain odors and aromas could be discerned by their smell. He figured that in time his nose would be well-versed in picking out what was what. "There is a matter of my being involved with another woman. A woman on M-69. Where we are as far as a relationship goes, I can't say."

"Who is this woman?" Asked Marz.

"Captain Taavis." Gavin stated that plain and simple. For whatever reason that made Marz laugh again.

"I forget you are out of touch with your Starfleet. Captain Taavis is now citizen Taavis. She has retired from service and Captain Green has replaced her."

Gavin slowed his pace, his eyes showing his shock at the news. Recovering fairly quickly he got back in step at a normal pace. "Interesting. I hope Captain Green knows of my whereabouts?"

"She does." Marz informed him. "I spoke with her last night. You are to continue as instructed by Taavis, and now report to Captain Green." That was said with finality as they reached the far aft of the ship and began to descend the egress ramp. The conversation had finished now that Lord Marz was home, and Gavin followed his CO along as he made his way towards the Great Hall His gut told him this situation was going to get worse before it got better.
