Lieutenant JG Gavin Lasso stood just to the left of the command chair on the Bridge of the IKS Foes Bane even as Commander Kehlani was seated in her throne. It tickled him and he subtly grinned to himself as that thought crossed his mind even as his eyes had their gaze on the forward viewport. He could tell that the Klingons aboard the Bird of Prey were none-too-fond of cruising around and seeing to subspace communication buoy relays. But, it had to be done, and since he was a member of House Kehlani, he had asked the Matriarch of said House to aid him in his duties. She had readily agreed, giving her crew the opportunity to do something other than walking patrols on M-69.

Commander Kehlani glanced up and to her left, her seasoned eye catching the hint of a grin on the face of her El-Aurian House member and junior officer. "Something amusing, Lieutenant?" She asked in Klingon. Basic Klingon, of course. Gavin had mastered the language well enough, being able to understand and speak basic Klingon with ease, even developing a hint of dialect and accent known from the Central Plains on Qo'noS. As of late, the Matriarch had been instructing him in the use of Imperial Klingon; the language for the elites and the most powerful Houses in the Empire.

Lasso, looking over at his Commanding Officer so long as he was aboard this ship, gave a slight shaking of his head. "Nothing worth mentioning, Commander. A personal amusement."

"I see," Kehlani stated, getting to her feet so as to stretch her legs and keep her ass from getting too comfortable. Glancing back at the SCI station Kehlani spoke up. "How soon to M-69, Commander Behlana?"

Lt. Commander Behlana glanced at the chrono, then looked to her CO. "Approximately twenty-seven minutes at present speed, HoD." Behlana was the Klingon version of Number One, but she chose to man her SCI console while seeing to the crew and their duties. There was always a secondary SCI officer on the Bridge so that she could wave them in if discipline needed her elsewhere.

"Getting antsy, HoD?" Lasso asked, the amusement in his eyes plain as day.

"Always." Kehlani grinned as she responded. "Even Klingons understand the need for these boring missions but, it doesn't make it any easier for us. What I would not give to find some Remans pushing their luck, and gutting them like fish." All around the Bridge there were grunts of agreement, even some chuckles mixed in at the thought.

"And, here we thought the Romulans were bad," said Lasso, his own grin now matching the HoD's. He wore his Starfleet uniform, the Baldric worn over a shoulder and across his chest. Everyone else was in their standard armor for the Klingon service. "Seems that the Remans need a spanking from the Romulans themselves."

"If only," Kehlani said derisively. "They may play at being opposed to such blatant actions by a race they enslaved centuries ago, but it affords an opportunity for them."

"An Opportunity?" This query came from Behlana, behind them at her station.

Kehlani glanced back. "Yes." She then began to pace just before her command chair, explaining. "I am a Strategic Operations officer, for both Starfleet and the Empire. It is my duty to think like my enemies, to see where they may benefit and then act. The Remans are a distraction for M-69. A distraction that the Romulans, being who they are by nature, may choose to exploit. With eyes on one situation, Starfleet's gaze may miss any subtle actions by the Star Empire."

Lasso thought on that for a few moments, finding a great deal of logic behind the words. Romulans were, after all, infamous for taking advantage of any situation created by others. A chance to sneak in and 'aid' whoever needed help before the Federation could. Thus, bringing forth the need for diplomacy which would chew up a great deal of time while they solidified any foothold they had established. "A sound summation, HoD."

The baHwI'(gunner) spoke up. "It would be foolish to dismiss Romulan treachery, HoD. I stand ready to crush my enemies underfoot and stomp their bones into dust."

Kehlani gave a chuckle, her eyes showing that she fully agreed with that sentiment. "Well said, baHwI'." She spun to face the aft section of her Bridge, addressing the department heads now on Alpha shift. "This is the time to remain vigilant no matter what missions we conduct. Not all missions bring glory, but when glory is to be had then we must be able to react with lightning speed. Always, and I mean always, be prepared for the unexpected. Hone yourselves and your underlings into razor sharp bat'leths, ready to be used at a moment's notice. Do not become complacent. The order is given, First Officer. See that it is passed on. Be Klingons, live life with joy, for glory may come when least expected." A light cheering went up around the Bridge, with each warrior clapping their comrades on the back and thumping consoles with their fists.

Once the Bridge staff had stopped their moment of adulation, Lasso began to thump the back of a console in a steady rhythm, a rhythm all too familiar to any Klingon worth his mettle. He began to sing, and the rest joined in almost immediately:

Qoy qeylIs puqloD.
Qoy puqbe'pu'.
yoHbogh matlhbogh je SuvwI'
Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw.

LITERAL TRANSLATION:

Hear! sons of Kahless.
Hear! daughters.
The battle blood perfectly cleans
the warrior who is brave and loyal.
We fight, we're passionate, and we kill perfectly.
Our lives are not long, but they're very bright.
We certainly die honorably, and we join our fathers in the Black Fleet.
There we always really continue fighting.
We won't stop. We continue fighting. We compete.

So, there it was. The IKS Foes Bane plowed through space at warp two as the Bridge crew took a bit of time to sing to the glory of Kahless and their own bloodlines.
