With out warning a blast of energy from the planets surface shot upwards as the geothermal energies had been so quickly powered down but not the source.

" Scanning a massive build up of Volcanic Energy emerging from the planets surface." Sayvek reported.

[Peel]

Seeing the wave getting closer "Helm lay in an escape route and get us the hell out of here" O'Connell ordered with some intensity in his voice.

"Aye Captain.....plotted in.....warp one engaged" Hanes replied as the Ship lunged forward while the wave flew past and just missing them.

"Lieutenant Sayvek, any chance another one of those waves will be released from the surface" O'Connell inquired wanting to be ready just in case.

" SCANNING...Indications negative at this time. I believe it was a " pop off valve" type reaction sir. The pressure from all of that energy had to go somewhere. There could be quakes and after shocks for a time but I believe the initial blast has calmed down. There is a considerable surface fall out though from the last doppler scans." Sayvek replied.

"Thank you Lieutenant; Helm hold our current position for the time being" the Captain ordered then returned to his seat.

"As you wish Captain, holding current position" Jack replied.

"Captain that was quite the energy wave coming from the planet" SanChez commented.

"Yes, it certainly was and I hope that's the end of it" O'Connell replied before lowering his voice "Ms. SanChez anytime your in the First Officer's chair and something like that happens don't be afraid to call out an alert."

"Understood Captain, this is a new experience for me and I'll keep that in mind for the future" Maria responded with a smile.

"Good and just so you know this is how you learn to be a First Officer" Jamie commented with a smile.

[Surface]

Walking back outside it seemed so much cooler than before but there was something in the air......not really snow and after a few minutes Devroe realized is was volcanic ash floating through the air. Tapping her Comm "Lieutenants Aloran and Albo please report to the Engineering complex.

[Genesis]

Hearing the call Johan responded "On our way Commander" as he went to Sarissa "Grab your medical bag the Commander wants us at the Engineering complex."

Nodding Sarissa headed to get her bag. “Ready when you are, let’s see what awaits us.”

"Just a minute" Johan replied then headed for the Bridge "Ensign the Counselor and I are headed to the Engineering Complex as per the Commander's request; could you please open the rear hatch."

"Sure thing Lieutenant and be safe out there" Barot responded as she did as requested.

Walking back to Sarissa "Ok let's go and see how we can help" then the two Officers headed for the Complex.

[Surface]

Heading to meet up with the Commander Johan noticed a few dead bodies in the street as they were being picked up and transported; also there were a few dead animas as well. Looking towards Sarissa "Those poor people, I couldn't even imagine dying like that being overcome by the heat" then he paused "And those unfortunate animals.....that's just wrong."

“Animals are extremely susceptible to overheating, think how you’d feel wearing a fur coat in high heat” Sarissa shook her head. “There’s only so much humanoid bodies can take as well.”

"I've never thought of it like that; I guess that's why your the Doctor and I'm not" Johan replied with a grin.

As they approached the Complex Commander Devroe was waiting outside for them "Ah, Lieutenants you're here, good. Across this settlement is the Medical Complex so while Mr. Flannery and his Team are repairing the Generator please go and see if you can lend a hand. By the looks of things they may welcome a couple extra pair of hands" Devroe ordered with a smile "I'll contact you when we're finished here."

"As you wish Commander" Johan replied then he and Sarissa left for Medical.

Returning to Engineering "Lieutenant Flannery making any headway with the Generator" she queried.

"Yes I am. I found the problem.... a sub standard relay the regulates not only the power the Generator uses but also what allows the Shields to be raised and lowered. Leave it to the Ferengi to cut corners to make more profit" Marcus explained not real happy about the situation.

"Yes and unfortunately it caused the lives of it's citizens not to mention the animals" the Commander stated with some disdain in her voice "How long do you estimate it will take to fix the problem."

Thinking for a few moments "I should be able to have it repaired in a few hours but then I'd like to run some tests to make sure this thing is working properly" then he paused a moment "Commander we should have this all buttoned up by the end of the day."

"Excellent Lieutenant. I'll go back to the Genesis and let the Captain know" then Angel turned and left allowing the Team to get back to work.

[Genesis]

Making her way to the Bridge "Commander how are things going down there" Sam asked with a smile.

"Good the Engineering team should have everything back to normal by day's end" Devroe replied as she walked over to the Comms Station "Captain O'Connell. Devroe, things are progressing nicely with the repairs. Mr. Flannery hopes to have everything back to normal by days end."

[That's good news Commander; keep me posted. O'Connell out.]

Knowing Angel had some time to kill she sat to catch her breathe for a bit "My apologies for you two to have to just sit and wait while we effect repairs but I didn't want to leave this brand new shuttle vacant on a strange planet" she stated with a smile.

Jason spoke up "That's quite right Commander, besides it's given me some time to poke around the Tactical systems so I feel much more confident with all the controls and whatnot."

"I agree with the Lieutenant, I've really become very familiar with all the piloting controls and could thread this thing through a eye of a needle should the need arise" Sam stated with a grin.

"Good! I'm happy to see you've both spent your time wisely" the Angel paused "It just goes to show what a fine Crew I have here" as she smiled "I Should be getting back to the Complex and see how they are progressing" as she stood.

"We'll still be here when you return" Sam commented with a laugh.


[Medical Complex]

Arriving at the medical complex Sarissa was glad to see it bustling with medical staff, who were doing their best to treat a major influx of patients. “Looks like this is a well used place, just overrun by sheer numbers.” She looked around. “Let’s see what we can do to help bring down the number of patients. You know how to triage don’t you?” She offered Johan a medical tricorder.

Taking her tri-corder "I haven't done this in quite awhile but yes I do know how" Johan replied with a smile "Any way I can help." Moving over to a male patient "Hi, I'm Lieutenant Albo from the USS Peel, how are you feeling.....any burns or abrasions."

"I feel like I've been run over by a Simu; all the years I've lived here I have never seen it that hot before" the male replied "The Federation hey? If don't mind my asking how did you manage to get this far out into space; we've only heard of such a group but have never seen anyone."

Setting the instrument Johan began to scan the man "To answer your question we now have new technology that allows us to travel further but in the same amount of time" he answered watching the screen "So what's a Simu; that's a new one on me" as he finished the scan.

"Think Targ only much larger " he replied "That must be some technology; we're way off the beaten path. So how am I."

"Yes the new Tech is something else that's for sure. Now I'm not a doctor but I'd say you're only severely dehydrated so I'll let the Doctor know and someone will be treating up soon. Now if you'll excuse me I'll let the Doctor know" Johan answered with a smile then made his way over to Sarissa "Lieutenant that man over there doesn't seems ok only very dehydrated,"

Sarissa smiled and nodded. “Okay, in that case he needs to be discharged with orders to increase fluid intake. He needs to do it cautiously, too much all at once may overwhelm his body, just tell him to rest, relax, and stay hydrated.”

Johan grinned "You got it Boss" he replied then turned and did as ordered.

[Engineering]

Meanwhile Lieutenant Flannery and his Team were hard at work making the necessary repairs to the Generator. The commander walked in "Mr. Flannery how are you coming along" she inquired.

Trying face his C.O. "Good Commander. The new relay's in place and we also repaired the door to it so anyone can now access it" Marcus explained "I'm about ready to fire it back up; I can monitor the surface temperature from here; fingers crossed" as he started the unit back up.

"Excellent and yes fingers crossed it works the way it was designed to work" Devroe replied with a grin. There was dead silence for the next thirty minutes with Marcus keeping a constant eye on the surface temps.

With a satisfied smile "Looks like she's going to hold Commander; the surface is at seventy eight degrees and holding steady with the Shields still in place" he proclaimed very happy with his Team.
