With some of the main operations staff on assignment Sureth leant a hand at the Science station. Joining him was the very confident Lt Kah’lyn Chiara-Rivers at ops.

Kah’lyn offered a warm smile as Sureth came to join her. “I wasn’t expecting you to be at the Science station Commodore.”

" I have assigned Covenant and Salem on an assignment. Besides I still have the mind to run a Dino scanner. Lieutenant I took some time to look over your file. You are a very good operations officer. I am honored you joined us. I know why Croesus did but your contribution to this station is very welcomed. I have some upcoming assignments that you may be helpful with. Are you still involved with your father?" Sureth replied.

“My father?” Kah’lyn paused. “Last time I saw him he was still in a Federation prison, he revoked my visiting rights because he didn’t want my being involved with him to interfere with my life, or career.”

" Most fascinating. We have recently learned of a Reman presence in our distant space. On the extreme end of the Romulan Neutral Zone. Apparently his name was used to direct towards a message to a Reman vessel. Can you look at the message and determine if it is authentic?" Sureth asked.

“I should be able to” Kah’lyn nodded. “My father, or at least his first Officer, tried to coerce me into returning to Romulus. They wanted what information I had on the Federation. My father stepped up and betrayed his own people for me, he’s an outsider wherever he goes.”

" Apparently these Reman have left the Empire as well. Is it possible he is involved? I suppose we will see. I will send the data to your station. No rush on the analysis. We are short staffed as it is." Sureth replied.

Kah’lyn nodded. “I don’t see how my father could be involved, as I said last time I saw him he was in prison.” She frowned. “I’ll give the data my full attention Sir, Remans are a very big problem so the sooner we have answers the better.”

" I totally agree. I contacted Star Fleet and confirmed your father's last known where about as being in incarceration. That said I just wanted to make you aware. " Sureth reported.

Kah’lyn nodded. “You’ve definitely peaked my interest Sir, I need answers as much as you do now.”

" I do not believe in coincidence. Having you here now and this occuring has peaked my curiosity as well. " Sureth replied.

Returning to his science station he soon began retrieving data.
" It would seem Commander Croesus has an added adventure to over see. A downed ship has been discovered on the new planet."

“Really? Why is it my husband always gets the fun jobs?” Kah’lyn grinned.

" It must be as Rivers Curse. Besides remaining here gives me an opportunity to offer you the Chief Operations Officer position. I know Croesus holds it now but other opportunities for growth for him will soon be presented. Are you interested?" Sureth replied.

“Me?” Kah’lyn looked surprised. “I would be honoured Sir, but I have to admit I’d miss working alongside Croesus. We’re a partnership in both marriage and department at present.”

" You deserve a career too Lieutenant. I am tapping Commander Croesus for a possible command down the line." Sureth replied.

“A command? I’m sure he’d love that!” Kah’lyn smiled warmly.

" Down the line. We are a growing station. As for you Lieutenant. I have no desire to lose you and hope you find M-69 your new home. With that said Captain Kingston will need a power relay for his shop systems off station. Arrange with engineering to have that relay installed." Sureth replied.

“Aye Sir” Kah’lyn nodded. “I’ll have someone from engineering head there to sort it.”

" Someday Lieutenant I will tell you about my almost marriage to the Praetors daughter. " Sureth added as he continued to use the the science lab scanner.

“Sounds fascinating Sir” Kah’lyn grinned. “I’ll look forward to hearing it.

Sureth winked as his replacement came talking to someone on his comms badge as he exited operations.
