Mission:
Stellar Problems
Location: USS Capernum
Timeline: Current
ON:
Having passed the torch to Taavis, Ro Green made her way to shuttle bay two. Upon entry she saw both Cosmo and Rollo hard at work. The two droids were true to their design, workaholics once spurred to get busy. And, busy was what they were. The two of them had already cleared her own X-wing, and two others, for duty. They were working to diagnose the fourth when she came in.
"Cosmo, buckle in, we depart immediately." Green ordered.
His small dome head turned her direction as he responded. "Yes, master." He then gave some droid speak to Rollo and pulled his working appendages within himself and rolled towards Ro's fighter, sending a signal to the onboard computer to drop his lift seat for boarding. The small lift seat came down, he got within it, and then it lifted him into his socket spot atop the fighter. He began to run through pre-flight checks.
Green, for her part, walked over to the left side of the fighter nose, just below the cockpit and touched a small, off-colored circle from the rest of the metal. The nano-tech within the confines of the fuselage activated and a mounting ladder extended down to the deck for her to ascend to the cockpit even as Cosmo opened the canopy. Ascending quickly, Ro hopped inside, bounced her feet off the seat as she twisted her body to put legs forward, then dropped to her butt in the seat as her legs stretched out under the forward control console, parting to avoid kicking the stick. Once settled she then began to go over the lit up controls, seeing where everything was set.
"Ready for engines, Master." Cosmo informed her.
"Ignition, Cosmo. Warm them up."
He did so, and the engines roared to life in their neutral, landed state.
Green tapped the button for the canopy, closing it down even as she slipped on her flight gloves. The control panels were all lit up showing a fully charged, and ready, X-wing fighter. "Cosmo, I so missed this. We're back, little buddy."
"That we are Miss. Controls at your disposal, Master Ro." Cosmo responded, choosing to continue to speak normally rather than droid-speak.
Green grinned to herself as she set her controls for departure, liking the new Cosmo. He was fast becoming an awesome astromech droid, but also a fine protocol droid. Letting him grow into who he was had obviously been beneficial. "Lifting off, now." Ro reached out and tapped the comm button. "Fighter Angel-1 ready for departure, Bridge. Confirm."
Taavis and her smooth voice came back at her. She had already assumed command in the time it had taken Ro to move below and then get prepared for flight. "Taavis, here, Angel 1. Opening bay door now. See you when you get back."
"You got it," said Ro, even as she used the repulsors to lift the X-wing off the deck and move it towards open space as the bay door slid open. Once it was opened all the way, Ro pressed the acceleration peddle just barely and the fighter shot forth into open space. "Free and clear, Capernum," she said as she shot out from between the warp nacelles and came around to angle towards where Dark Harbor was. "We'll contact you once we are all gathered. Green, out." The transmission cut. "Activate the motivator, Cosmo. We need to get there now, not later."
It was easy enough to transfer from one light speed source to the other, as Qeritas had promised. "Ready for hyperspace, Master."
"Is everything in the navicomputer already?" Green knew the answer, but to ask was prudent. "We don't need to bounce too close to a star, black hole, or supernova."
"I am the navicomputer, Master. And, yes, we are ready." Cosmo said.
~Hot damn~ thought Green. ~We'll be there in six minutes instead of two hours~ "Entering hyperspace now." She pushed the motivator lever forward and the fighter jumped forward as the stars turned to streaks of light and she was then thrust into a subspace corridor of her ship's own making. Deciding to relax before arrival, Green began to meditate during the trip.
