David had been out of contact with the Starbase for just long enough he felt he'd better check in, he was sitting in the small ready room looking at the screen as it showed Please stand by... He had a large amount too process and more to report. The meeting with his father felt like a major weight dropped on his chest. He waited and remembering that he couldn't talk about all of it over subspace.

Still rattling from.the battle Sureth came in and greeted David Wallace.

" Good to have you back Commander" Sureth greeted.

David smiled=^= "I've been asked to investigate an unexplained subspace signal in the red giant system on the far side of the nebula before I fully return, Lambda Pi six five six."=^= David started =^="I'll be delayed about six hours, its probably just some space junk with an emergency transmitter stuck too it, also I was asked to convey a message from Rear Admiral Wallace, that he wanted to talk in person with you about a matter of mutual interest."=^= Hoping that the Commodore might clue into what he was saying over open subspace.


" I am intrigued on both fronts. Are you going alone or do you need a team?" Sureth replied.

=^="The Cascade has a full crew, so we're going to divert and investigate it should only take a couple of hours and we'll be back too the station, I don't think it's anything of major consequence and if it is I'll let you know."=^= David said.

" Acknowledged. We have had a set back here. A Reman ship has attacked the station. Clean up has begun but we had some casualties. Complete your mission Commander and I will see you when you arrive." Sureth replied.

=^="How long ago did the attack take place?"=^= David was concerned now.

" It was a tactical attack from a Simitar class cruiser.. I will fill you in when you arrive. The USS Peel is in the sector now and patrolling a Captain Kingston helps rebuild our station. He and Lieutenant Commander O'Neil have their work ahead of them." Sureth replied speaking to David as he might his son.

David froze slightly with the news, =^="I'll expedite the work I have to do and get back too the station."=^= David started to think things were about to go from bad to worse.

" We have a situation with these Reman. I can not communicate over unsecured channels but a renewed threat in this outer sector has been revealed." Sureth replied.

David froze slightly, he used a preplanned code phrase =^="We'll have to handle this by the book then."=^=

" Roger that in due time Commander. " Sureth replied.

David took his time in his reply and changed his mind =^="My dad's favorite Sun Tzu quote would apply here, but I'll just sign off here"=^= he said referring to the quote "The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting," "Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster," and "All warfare is based on deception"

" It will be good to have our two new ship's arrive soon Commander." Sureth added.

David knodded =^="The other ship is about four hours ahead of us and should be there shortly, Wallace out."=^=

Sureth knew David would follow protocols by the book and no doubt meant that the new ship would arrive soon. Which was good given their present situation.
