New Beginnings

Commander Angel Devroe had more or less left the Peel early trying to avoid goodbyes which she hated. With most of her belongings stored in the cargo bay aboard the Peel, she headed towards Ops with one duffel over her shoulder to start her new duty life and was to meet up with Lt.Commander Kah'lyn Chiara-Rivers and be brought up to speed on the state of the Base. Walking in she looked around noticing just how different Ops was from a Bridge on a Star Ship both serving the same purpose...the brains of the installation.

Scanning the area she saw a women with Lieutenant Commander's pips on her collar as she approached with a smile "Good morning, you must be Commander Rivers, I'm Commander Angel Devroe the new XO for the Base; Commodore Sureth asked me to meet with you to be brought up to speed on the state of the Base" she explained feeling quite out of place at the moment.

“That’s me” Kah’lyn smiled warmly. “It’s nice to meet you Commander, welcome to the station. We’ve been busy getting all systems back online, we’ve been lucky so far, long range sensors have picked up a Reman warship that appears to have been left burning after a battle on the other side of the Neutral Zone. I’ve sent Commander Croesus out aboard the McCool to investigate.”

"Thank you, it's nice to be here. They don't seem to want to give up but at least that one ship got what was coming to it" Commander Devroe replied then continued "It's going to take me a little time to get into the swing of things here so please be patient with me. Also would you happen to know where the XO's quarters are so I can have the rest of my things beamed over and get somewhat settled."

“I can show you right here” Kah’lyn pulled up a schematic of the station pointing out where Shauna’s quarters used to be. “You’ll find the XO’s quarters right here. If you get stuck just give me a call and I’ll show you there myself.”

Studying the schematic for a few moments "No I think I'll be fine and if you're good here I would like to get settled before I start with my duties as your First Officer" Angel replied with a smile starting to feel a little more at ease in her new surroundings.

Grabbing her one duffel Angel turned and headed for her new home. Shortly she arrived and keyed in her security code then the doors swooshed open. Walking in Angel was quite pleased with the size and how nicely it was furnished; Shauna certainly had taken care of the quarters quite nicely. Walking over to the desk area she was quite impressed with the large display screen where she could access any area or system on the Base. Behind the desk was her bedroom with a nice sized bed, nightstand with a light, large dresser as well as a large closet. Setting her duffel on the bed Angel unpacked its contents, mostly clothes, putting them away. Grabbing her toiletries bag she went into a nice sized bathroom with all the amenities.

Going back to the living area she sat at her desk and accessed the computer station calling the Peel "Cargo Chief, Commander Devroe, could you beam over the rest of my belongings to these coordinates; as soon as possible would be appreciated."

"Commander, I'll beam over the rest of your belongings directly; orders from Captain O'Connell" the Chief replied with a smile "Best of luck to Commander."

"Tell the Captain thank you for me please and thanks for the well wishes. Devroe out." Sitting back in her chair she thought "Leave it to Jamie to look after me even when I'm not there anymore; he really is a remarkable man."

A few minutes later the rest of her stuff materialized in her living area. Grabbing her other duffel Angel put the rest of her clothes away; some being civilian attire. After that was finished she opened up the small crate which contained a few books and some personal items either from home or a few things she had collected over the years; Angel wasn't one to collect things unless they meant something.

The large couch was against the other wall which gave a good view of space through the window. Also on the other side of the room was a small round table with three chairs and the entire quarters had a nice beige plush feeling carpet making the whole quarters feel calm and cozy; this was going to be a nice place to live and call home. After resting a few minutes Angel decided to contact someone.

Going to her large desk she tapped in a set of numbers waiting for a face to show up on the screen. Minutes later a big smile came across her face "Hi Erica, how are you" Angel inquired.

"Hi back gorgeous... I miss you" then she paused "Wait a minute something looks different in the background....where are you" Erica asked with a smile seeing Angel's lovely face.

"That's because I'm not on the Peel anymore; you are looking at the new Executive Officer of Star Base M-69" she replied with a grin.

Hardly believing what she was hearing "No way! They approved your transfer? That's great news!" then she paused "I'll be back to M-69 tomorrow midday. Let me take you out for a celebration dinner; just the two of us" Erica suggested with a big smile.

"I'd like that very much" Angel replied "Contact me when you arrive then we can figure out a time and place to meet."

"Sounds good" then she paused "I'm so looking forward to spending more time with you in the future Angel so it's a date then. I have to get going, see you soon" as the screen went blank.

Leaning back in her chair thinking "Erica just said it's a date.....now that makes all this worthwhile." Then opening comms "Commander Rivers, Commander Devroe, I'm finished with my quarters so do you need me at Ops; if not I'll see you in the morning."

Kah’lyn was quick to respond. “All good here Commander, feel free to get an early night and I’ll see you in the morning.”

"Thank you; I'll see you in Ops at zero eight hundred tomorrow morning" Angel replied "Devroe out."

Now it was time for a nice relaxing shower, a light supper, and relaxing with her feet up. After all that was finished she sat relaxing thinking about the time she would be spending with Erica. Then her mindset changed as she wondered what Jamie was doing right now; no doubt being with Shauna. Angel was happy they both got what they wanted; but she would miss him from time to time.
