" A New Moon Over My Shoulder "

Mission:
SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: Starbase M-69
Timeline: Concurrent

OOC: up for a jp? Strategic Ops and a security chief? We can investigate something new
-- The mystery of the Chief intel officer and his equally mysterious ship ..lol. Pick a topic, I can improvise.
Ooc- Lt Commander Croesus and Lt Fox and the new guy Crewman Gale go with 2nd office Wallace to investigate presence of an astrological body floating around/near the planet Aurelia...what appears to be a moon with interesting features?
-- that can work

BETA SHIFT
Crewman Galen from the Mycenian Science Guild was the first to discover the seismic disturbance beyond Aurelia when he and his wife, new to Starbase M-69 began their exchange. On loan from the Pyrenees vessel in sector to the Nebula, Galen was no slackers to geo science and astro physics.
Pele had noticed first when sensors detected a large mass beyond Aurelia. Using short and long range sensors initially proved flawed given the dense energy plasma so it involved firing a probe which confirmed the existence of a large spherical moon shaped object.
" Pele to Operations. We have confirmed the existence of the sphere."
< Operations >
Lieutenant Commander Croesus had taken a shift and was on duty when the Micenian made her report.
" This is Croesus.. our sensors are pinpointing the planetoid data as well. Commander Wallace to OPS please." Croesus paged.
David stepped out from the lift, looking around. He'd been back a few hours and wanted to check in with the watch officer before he grabbed a few hours of sack time. "Problem?" he said walking over from the back of ops.
" Commander sensors have detected the presence of a planetoid just out of gravitational range of Aurelia. It was not there when the system was first scanned . A probe was dispatched and we are receiving data but perhaps a closer look might be warranted?" Lt Commander Croesus reported.
Shifting his gaze too the status boards, "Cascade needs forty minutes to prep, assuming there isn't other mainMiconian tenance going on..." David started, "runabout's might not be a good idea."
" Commander the McCook is in mooring." Croesus replied.
"Bad idea, the McCook doesn't have enough armor, rogue planets are known too have meteorites surrounding them, plus Cascade has the larger lab." David said looking at the sensor readouts "there are very clear indicators here of a few meteors." pointing too the readouts.
Crewman Galen's arrived and then spoke up.
" The planetoid has now entered the limits of Aurelia"s gravitational well. It has reached moon status." the Miconian reported.
Wallace said the obvious, "what happened to the meteors and other debris?"
Galen zoomed in on the now moon and then replied. " There are numerous marking and debris will will be absorbed by Aurelia. The mystery here is where this moon originated. This moon was not detected when this planet was first found and it has ironically glided into orbit as it has been here all along."
"What's this gravitational value here..." David said pointing too the readout "It looks very..." he paused "Is this possibly artificial?"
" This moon measures 3000 kilometers." Galen's replied.
David smirked, "The way it entered orbit was reminiscent of stuff I read about Yonada in the twenty two sixties." he looked over too the others, "Lets' start compiling data for the boss and get a mission plan together, I'll wake the crew and start mission prep."
" It has begun its first orbit of the planet." Croesus observed and reported.
" Commander the moon may not have originated around Aurelia. Some of the sensors show this moon has several remarkable readings and ores." Galen added.
"Monitor planetary geology, oceanic currents and weather patterns as the moon orbits, I'm not a fan of surprises." David said a little too much authority in his voice.
Galen nodded as he tagged his wife Pele in the science lab to do just that.
" The 1st watch will be on duty soon. You will have a lot to report." Croesus stated to Wallace.
"Pack your bags..." David said as he walked over too the replicator "You're coming with, grab the new astrophysicist....uh, Lieutenant..." David stumbled at the end "The one that transferred here last month."
" We will be ready Commander." Croesus replied as any Klingon might at the thought of adventure.
"I'm gonna grab some rack time, if you have any questions about the Cascade contact my Chief engineer Lieutenant Watson or my helmsman Ensign Bear." David said as he walked back too the turbolift.
Croesus nodded.
Galen glanced at Croesus and then resumed his scans. His emotions were very high at finding this mystery first, though Pele would probably take the credit.
