It wasn't planned to be a long distance thing

Mission: SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: Docking Bay three - USS Cascade
Timeline: == ==

ooc: David's back, choose any reason to be down in the docking bays

On:

As the couple walked down the ambilocal walkway holding hands there was a slight echo of a giggle between lovers, the slight echo was mostly because of the unusual time of day, bay three was oddly empty at this time, but with the arrival of the Cascade that wasn't going to change much, David spoke again, "So far as first your first mission what do you think?"

"I think I'd like to do that again...without the other stuff happening of course." Sara said grasping his bicep, "although next time lets try something equally intriguing on Risa."

"Just equally?" David said flashing a rare smile

"Okay...just intriguing room service." she said as they entered the main arrival area

"Deal..." David said as he realized they weren't alone, then realizing he didn't really care "So I'll see you in five weeks?"

"Deal...." Sara said leaning in for a quick kiss getting a sense that David didn't care about who found out about their relationship, "Five weeks....Commander..." she said lingering their hands still interlocked for a final moment before she walked away.

David turned too the new arrival "Don't say it..."

“I wasn’t going to say a thing” Isabelle grinned as she looked at him. “I was just out for a little stroll trying not to overdo it, and I thought I’d see if you were back, that’s all.” She paused to check on her newborn daughter who was sleeping in her pram.

David looked down at the child, “looks like I only missed a few things around here, how did the move go?”

“Quite smoothly actually, at least what I got to experience of it.” Isabelle smiled. “We also have a new First Officer Angel Devroe, Shauna swapped over to the USS Peel.”

David smiled "I've met the commander and from what I've seen so far he followed my mission plans fairly closely, I didn't get any complaints from the tow ship CO's and a bottle from my whiskey reserves is missing meaning we got the results needed., which moves me to one of my next two dilemma's."

“Oh? May I ask what dilemma’s those might be?” Isabelle asked as she found herself a low crate to rest on.

"I need to fill out the roster on the Cascade, mostly part time roles since we operate within the stations operational needs and on occasion at the request of the various divisions of Starfleet," David Started as he set down his duffle bag, "If you or some of the junior officers you know of are looking for that kind of opportunity I'll be here for a couple of days, before I head out again."

Isabelle nodded. “Have you advertised that fact? You may find more volunteers if you do. Plus you said two dilemmas?”

David looked out the viewport at the Cascade, "While we were dropping off Doctor Raymond back on earth I got word of some problems in Starfleet, very serious ones."

“Ohh?” Isabelle gave David a serious look. “May I ask what kind of problems? And have you spoken to my father about it yet?”

"Normally drama between admirals, generals and political types is nothing new and nothing to report, but this has hit some kind of new low." David said looking at the floor then up "I stumbled into a witness relocation while we were monitoring the volcano eruption, a witness to some serious stuff."

“So what happened, or is going to happen?” Isabelle asked curiously.

David sat back against the wall, "About eight months ago on the agricultural colony Moran three the locals were less than happy about some quota changes, the official line is the protest got violent and the governing counsel called in the marines to break it up, things got more heated and eventually shots got fired, there's one massive hole in the story..." David paused looking squarely at the counsellor "There's a communication log that shows the marine CO ordered his troops to open fire along with some security footage too that effect." David looked away, "When we rescued the man and his family I figured this was a simple matter, get him to his court date, save the day, instead I spent three days playing hide and seek with mercenaries."

“I see” Isabelle nodded. “I take it the man and his family are safe now? What about the mercenaries?”

"The family is at a safe house somewhere until the testimony, far as the merc's they were last seen somewhere in Klingon space chasing ghosts." David said not revealing their actual fate.

Isabelle nodded. “I get the feeling there’s more to it than that but I’ll let it slide for now.” She smiled a wry smile.

Glad or the reprieve from more questions, "Would you be interested in attending the intelligence services seminars next month? it's on Earth this year, the lecture list has three psychologists and a number of seminars on working with intel on projects, missions and general knowledge for non intel types who want to broaden their skill base, plus we'll have full use of a manor house that's nearby that has enough large rooms it can double as a mini vacation, maybe breathe some non recirculated air."

“Actually that sounds interesting” Isabelle nodded. “I could arrange to bring John along to look after the little ones while I’m attending the seminars. If they’ll allow that.”

"That's fine, the manor house has plenty of rooms too, the only down side is the ten hour slipstream hop to earth in cramped quarters on the Cascade, I think we can rig it up so it's moderately comfortable in one of the two VIP quarters." David said he then added "There's a sharpshooting competition too, so if John wants to enter he can."

Isabelle grinned. “I’ve no doubt he’d like that. Let me know more details and I’ll speak with my father and John.”

"I should go check on my what's left of my staff, if you've got any questions I'll be around." David said standing, "I think I'm down to Ensign Richardson and a revolving door of non commissioned types working the front desk."

“There’s Always something to contend with” Isabelle smiled warmly. “I need to get back anyway.”

David stood, "I should too, I'm back on duty in six hours."

Isabelle nodded. “Let me know the details of that seminar and I’ll get it arranged.”

"Sure thing," David said putting his bag on his shoulder "Good too see you up and about Counsellor."

“Thank you David” Isabelle smiled warmly. “I’ll see you soon” with that she headed on her way.

As David walked away he saw a red ribbon tied discreetly to the side of a light fixture, he walked over to the turbolift and waited for it to arrive, as he stepped in he paused looking around "Deck thirty one." was all he said.
