USS Dresden - Reality Check

Posted on Wed Jul 15th, 2026 @ 12:47pm by Captain Jamie O'Connell

Mission: SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: Lounge
Timeline: After Meeting With Base Command

::ON::

Entering the Lounge everyone was assembled as requested "Thank you Commander Thorn for getting everyone together" then looking to his Crew "If any of you want to grab a beverage or something to nibble on please feel free; this may be a lengthy meeting." Hank stepped to one of the replicators "Mug of coffee, hot, strong, and black" moments later he grabbed his coffee and pulled up a chair facing the large couch waiting for his Crew; some grabbed something and some didn't.

After everyone was seated Hank began "First off the Commodore and Commander seem to be very nice people and offered us additional supplies if needed" he stated before getting into the heart of the matter. Looking to his SCI "Amethyst you were correct in your assumptions earlier; we seem to have traveled back in time....fifty years to be exact....the current year here is 2402."

Hank let that hang in the air for a few minutes.

"So we have quite a bit to discuss and being this affects all of us I want a Crew consensus on a few things. The Base's Commodore has asked us to remain on the Dresden for the time being. I'm sure he and his staff are meeting concerning our future here.....or as long as we are here. Lieutenant D'Rin I would like twenty four hour scans of the area around where we exited the anomaly just in case we get lucky and it opens back up soon."

"As you wish Captain; between myself and SCI Amethyst we can make that happen" D'Rin replied knowing the importance of the order.

"Good. Also please, each department analyze your areas so we're one hundred percent certain the ship hasn't been compromised in any way" as Hank saw head nods from everyone's understanding. "Since we've traveled back in time, our technology is far superior to the technology of this time plus our uniforms are much different from what they wear" as he paused a moment before continuing "Oddly enough I think the Prime Directive applies to our situation. Any thoughts."

Thorn spoke up "I agree invoking the Prime Directive. I don't want us to be the ones to pollute this timeline.....who knows the effects it could have on our own" she replied knowing the Captain was choosing a right path.

Most everyone agreed with what had been already stated feeling much the same way.

"Not to address the elephant in the room; but do you think we'll be able to get back to our own timeline Captain" Ensign Loman inquired for the sake of the Crew as well as her own curiosity.

Letting out a sigh "Well I won't sugar coat it Ensign.....honestly I have no idea but I'm hoping for another wormhole to appear where we exited" then Hank paused "What I can tell you according to Commodore Sureth this type of anomaly activity isn't uncommon in this area of space so fingers crossed; metaphorically speaking" as he scanned his Officers "Are there anymore immediate concerns.....anyone?"

Looking at his Officers everyone was pretty quiet so Hank thought he would give them something to look forward to "I'm hoping once the Starbase Command has a chance to digest our presence, they'll give us access to their Promenade Decks....I hear they have several eateries with real food as well as Shops to purchase some personal items. Also a Captain Kingston will be giving us the coordinates for a mooring spot outside the Base that way IF the wormhole does open we can haul ass and try to get back home" he commented trying his best to keep a positive attitude for his Crew.

"I have to ask Captain, so what do we do in the meantime.....just wait it out" S'Var inquired with some concern over their present situation.

"We will go about our duties as usual and hopefully get to spend some time off the Dresden when we'er able to" then Hank paused a moment "Look I know the universe has dealt us a crappy hand but we have one of the best Crews in Starfleet.....now or in the future. Due to the small size of our Crew we're more of a family really so don't be afraid to confide in one another and any of you can always come and talk to the Commander or myself" he assured his people.

"I agree with the Captain two hundred percent on what he's already stated and yes we are a family....that's important to remember so we all can get through this current situation together as any family would" Commander Thorn responded starting to see some of the angst of her people going away.

There was a brief few minutes of silence as everyone was digesting what command had said then Amethyst spoke up "Captain, a Captain Kingston has sent the mooring coordinates" she informed Hank.

"Excellent. Reply and confirm we've received the coordinates please" looking at his people "You are all dismissed" and the timing could not have been better.

The Crew all returned to their duties with the Bridge Crew walking forward and taking their positions. Sitting in the Pilot's seat Hank brought up the coordinates. Initiating the reverse thrusters he backed the Dresden slowly out of the docking slip and into space. Going to one half impulse they made their way to said coordinates before coming to a full stop and going to 'station keeping mode.' Looking towards Tiffany, Hank spoke in a low voice "Commander thank you for your continued support.....especially now.....it's greatly appreciated."

Tiffany smiled "Of course Captain and I'll always have your back no matter what I can assure you."
