Peel - The Doctor's In

Mission: SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: S/M: A New Hope
Timeline: Stardate: 80002.7

~New Hope Colony Medical~

Lieutenants Aloran, Stone, and Albo materialized in a massive Sick Bay area. There were twenty bio-beds with data screens over each one down one side of Sick Bay. The opposite side was lined with all sorts of testing equipment along with some Nurses/Doctor's Stations. The size was massive compared to a ship.

Seeing three strangers materialize the Doctor walked over with a smile "You must be from the Peel here to help. I'm Doctor Davis, Head Doctor for the Colony."

"Hello Doctor Davis" looking to Sarissa "This is Doctor Aloran our Chief Counselor and ACMO for the Peel. The gentleman with us is Lieutenant Johan Albo and he's here to assist us if need be. I am Lieutenant Heidi Stone Head Nurse for Starbase M-69 her to help Doctor Aloran with your nursing staff" Heidi concluded with a smile.

"Hi Doctor, this is quite a layout you have here" Albo added not quite sure what to say at the moment.

“It’s amazing” Sarissa smiled warmly. “It’s nice to meet you Doctor, we’re here to do whatever we can to assist you and your staff. I’d like to see your medical facilities to start with, and then we can see what extra training your people may need.”

"Certainly, right this way" Davis replied with a smile as they walked along slowly "On the left are twenty bio-beds each self contained with their own diagnostic screens mounted on the wall above the beds. Behind those doors are two surgery suites with robotic assistants. On the righthand side are various full body scanners, specialized diagnostic equipment along with Nurse's/Doctor's Stations to monitor any bed in the facility at any given time" as he paused a moment "Lastly behind those doors is a full morgue, which so far, hasn't been needed which I hope continues to be the case. So what do you think of our facility Doctor."

“I think it’s amazing!” Sarissa grinned. “We could do with medical facilities like this. So tell me what we can do to help you, what training do your staff need the most?”

"Our Doctors and Medics are all licensed and certified. The Nurses, however, are a different story all together"as Davis paused a moment "They tend to take too long to accomplish even the simplest tasks. Maybe you could work with some of them and increase their efficiency; that would be a big step forward to make this department run much better" he explained.

Then Stone spoke up "Being Head Nurse on a Starbase I've had experience in helping Nurses in this type of situation so I think this is very doable. We can work with some of the Nurses now then they can work with the others after we leave" Heidi suggested then looked to Sarissa "Wouldn't you agree Doctor Aloran."

“Complately” Sarissa nodded. “Maybe we could set up a few practice patients for them on the holodeck. It would give us chance to see how they handle a situation.”

Thinking a moment "That sounds like a good approach, that way I can send in a few nurses at a time" Davis replied then turned tone of the Medics explaining about the holodeck. Turning back to his guests "Give my Medic about twenty minutes and he'll have a simulation set up."

"Fantastic....we'll start making our way there then" Heidi replied as the three officers started towards the holdback at a leisurely pace.

Walking along Heidi noticed Lieutenant Albo with his hand on the Doctor's lower back. She was thinking about questioning it but then remembered something she had heard through the grapevine "Lieutenants I've been hearing rumors that you two are engaged to be married....is that true of just idle gossip" she inquired with a smirk.

Sarissa couldn’t help but grin. “Oh it’s very true” she smiled as she looked at Johan then back at Heidi. “I consider myself to be a lucky woman.”

Hearing Sarissa Johan gave a big grin "But not half as lucky as I am" he responded giving her lower back a gentle rub.

"Sounds like you two were meant for each other" Heidi responded with a smirk "Consider yourselves fortunate to have found one another. People spend their whole lived looking for that special someone" as her thoughts went to Ramvek.

“That’s very true” Sarissa nodded and smiled.

Walking into the Holo Deck there was a complete Sick Bay set up with some patients laying on the bio-beds and about a dozen Nurses waiting for the the Officers from the Peel to show up.

Heidi smiled "Good afternoon ladies. I'm Lieutenant Heidi Stone, Head Nurse at Starbase M-69 and this is my associate Doctor Sarissa Aloran. We're going to spend the next few hours showing you some ways you can become more efficient at your jobs while moving your parents quicker through Sick Bay" Stone stated.

During the next few hours both Sarissa and Heidi worked with the various Nurses showing them how to work quicker and how to assist the Doctors much more efficiently. Johan was around grabbing any supplies the Nurses might need.

“This is going very well, I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to cope with any medical emergency that comes your way.” Sarissa smiled warmly. “Saying that let’s test the theory.” She took a few moments to enter a holodeck program that would simulate a minor disaster. “Let’s see how you all do.”

Moments later ten patients showed up all at once as Nurse Stone gave some instruction "Ok, you all can do this....start with triage.....take care of the most critically injured and work your way down to bumps and bruises....you've got this" she reminded them. For the next hour and a half Heidi and Sarissa just walked around observing the Nurses and not saying much; just observing.

When all the patients had been treated Heidi walked over to Sarissa in a low voice "They actually did pretty well from what I observed and they'll should get more efficient as time goes on" she stated.

Sarissa nodded. “I agree” with that she called the holodeck to end program. “Thank you all for your hard work today, we think you’re ready to face whatever comes your way.”

Minutes later Doctor Davis walked in "So Doctor Aloran how did my Nurses do; hopefully they've learned something today."

“We’re very happy with them” Sarissa smiled. “We put them through a holodeck simulation and they’ve met our expectations. I’d say they’re ready for anything.”

"That's great news! So I guess you'll be going back to your ship soon" Davis inquired "And thank yo all so much for all your help today."

Johan looked at the ladies with a grin then tapped his comm "Transporter Room....Lieutenant Albo.....three to beam back" he stated just before they disappeared from site.
