Peel - Tying up Loose Ends

::ON::

~Bridge~

Captain O'Connell was sitting in the center seat looking over some of the reports filed by his Senior Officers concerning their time on the Colony; not lengthy but right to the point. The reports would greatly aid CPO Jen in writing up a mission summery to send of to Admiral Stone. Shutting down his Command PaDD Jamie returned it to the pocket on the side of his chair.

Looking towards his Science Officer "Lieutenant Sayvek, Lieutenant Flannery looked over the results of the Colony Engineer's data sampling and concurs with their Engineer concerning the proto matter levels; nice catch by the way.

" I am curious about the approach of an unknown ship we discovered on long range sensors. It appears someone is collecting proto matter energy." Sayvek replied.

"Yes....while you were away I had a brief conversation with the C.O. of that ship. She assured me they were not the least bit interested in the Colony and they were there collecting proto matter for medicines for their people" the Captain replied to his Chief Science Officer.

Changing his focus he leaned over towards Shauna "As soon as Medical gets back from the Colony I'll touch base with the Governor then we can set a course to M-69" O'Connell stated.

Shauna nodded. “Good idea. I hope everything is going well down there, I’ll admit it’s a lovely place to visit.”

"Yes it certainly was" O'Connell replied before looking towards Maria "Lieutenant SanChez so how did it go with the Security people."

"It went quite well.....although I did have an incident with one of their people" Maria stated "But let's just say I was able to straighten him out real quick" as she smirked.

Jamie grinned knowing Maria only too well "Yes I'm sure you did" he replied "And I'm sure the others took notice as well."

Shauna grinned. “I’ve no doubt by the time medical are finished they’ll have staff that run like a well oiled machine.”

A few minutes later CPO Jen walked onto the Bridge and over to Command "Captain....a word if I may" Yesrin inquired with a smile.

O'Connell turned in his seat facing Jen "Absolutely Chief, what's on your mind" he asked with a smile.

"All the departments who worked on the Colony are back aboard except Medical Sir; which I'mm expecting fairly soon. As soon as I have all their notes then I'll write up a report you can read and sign off on before I send it along to the Admiral, Sir" Yesrin stated enjoying her role on the Peel now.

"Thank you Chief and I have to say I'm very impressed how you've handled this entire operation at the Colony" as he glanced towards the XO then back to Yesrin "You've taken this off our plates so we can focus more on the mission" the Captain responded with sincerity.

“I think we’d be lost without you onboard” Shauna smiled at Yesrin. “Speaking of being onboard are the Counsellor and the team ready to beam up yet?”

"They should be back fairly soon from my last contact with them" Yesrin responded "I should get back to my duties" as she turned heading back to her Office.

Shauna turned to Jamie. “I have to say the crew are amazing. I’m certainly glad I chose to join the Peel.”

"Yes they are and everyone knows their areas while not being afraid about some hard work. That's one of the reasons I try and give them time off the ship as much as possible.....sort of a reward" O'Connell replied then paused a moment "I'm glad you decided to join the Peel as well" as he gave a wry smirk.

Minutes later Jamie heard the Lift doors swoosh open. Turning he could see the Counselor and Lieutenant Stone exit as they proceeded towards command "Ladies, so how did it go on the Colony" he inquired with a smile.

“Actually it went very well indeed” Sarissa smiled. “We’re confident that we’ve left them able to cope with anything that comes their way.”

"I agree, the Nurses seemed to catch on quickly and I think they appreciated the 'hands on' approach for fine tuning their skills" Heidi responded.

"Well done Ladies, and of course Mr. Albo, it's great to hear things went so well at the Colony" O'Connell replied with a smile.

Minutes later "Comms hail the Governor if you would please" came the request. The Captain stood and walked towards the view screen standing behind Helm as was his usual manner. Moments later a familiar face appeared "Governor I believe we have completed the extra training for your various departments."

"I agree Captain O'Connell, it would appear so. On behalf of our government and the people on New Hope Colony I'd like to thank you and your Crew for their time and their expertise; I know we'll be all the better for the experience" the Governor responded with sincerity "And please don't be a stranger Captain...our doors are always open to you and your Crew."

"Thank you Governor and it was our pleasure to help out" O'Connell replied "We'll be breaking orbit soon and heading back to Starbase M-69 then" as he paused a moment "Good luck to you and your Colony....O'Connell out.

Returning to the center seat he looked towards the Medical Team "Take the rest of the day off and get some rest, you've all deserved it" as the three left the Bridge. Looking towards Shauna "Let's say we head for home."

“I think that’s a very good idea” Shauna smiled warmly.

"Helm set a course for M-69, warp eight point five if you would please" O'Connell ordered satisfied with the mission.

"As you wish Captain" Ensign Hanes replied then moments later the Peel was on it's way.

Leaning towards Shauna and in a low voice "Would you like to have dinner in my quarters this evening....say eight hundred" Jamie inquired wanting to spend some real alone time with her.

Shauna nodded. “I’d like that very much.”
