As Captain Ro Kudo and her daughter, Science Specialist Yui Kudo, visited one another they had discussed a great many things. The more in-depth answers to questions were given, and the topics tended to switch lanes rather quickly, with both women able to keep up with one another. When it was all said and done, Ro now knew quite a bit about the Quazi, or Catfolk as they liked to be called, and that their technology was very similar to that of the Pallean galaxy in most respects. Turbolasers, proton torpedoes and concussion missile systems, landing craft known as drop ships for armored vehicles to make planet fall. Not to mention the X-wing fighters that were the backbone of their fleet. Ro and Yui both flew their own X-wings, with Ro's actually having come from the Pallean galaxy from a time she had spent there thanks to the Q known as Qeritas. It was also how Ro came to know how to use The Force, and her desire to implement the Meji Order, which was taken from the Jedi Order in the Pallean galactic society.
And, it just so happened that the Meji Order came up during their talk, with Yui breaching the subject. "Mother, I wish to become Meji. To live that life and serve the people of the Federation. I can manipulate Eldritch Magick, but we all have our gifts. Even those who can't do either the Force or Eldritch, still want to live that lifestyle; to be a part of something bigger than themselves."
Ro studied her daughters face as she was speaking, seeing no rushing into this in her expression. It was obviously something Yui had considered for some time even as she was being assigned here to M-69 as a civilian science specialist. Her work in astromycology alone had her in good standing with the Federation Science Bureau. No one had looked into astromycology for some time now, ever since all of Paul Stametz's work had been classified by both Starfleet and the UFP. Yui had opened a can of worms when she began to delve into the discipline, trying to open a gateway to the mycelial network and begin anew on what Stametz had so far collected in his time. Spore technology may become a thing again, thanks to her firebrand of a daughter.
"I have no issue with you becoming Meji, Yui. Just know that once you commit to that life you will be expected to uphold its ideals. You can't bait and switch when it's convenient." Explained Ro. "If you have the commitment, I accept you as my acolyte. You will do what is expected of you, even if it means sweeping every corridor on M-69 by hand simply because I told you to as part of your lessons. Not that I will do that, but you get the idea."
"I do," Yui said with a smile at her Mother's snide little joke. "I am devoted. Qeritas told me that The Force or the Eldritch will take precedence, and to be prepared for that inevitabilility. Will you guide me either way, Master?"
"I will," Ro responded. "You will also dress more in line with being an acolyte. Belly shirts are fine, within reason. See my Meji appearance," Ro aimed her hands back at herself and a quick wave from torso down. "This is my normal Meji apparel. We all wear hooded cloaks over top of it all. Putting the hood up while traversing by foot can pull one within oneself even while moving through the world. Communing while moving. Also, we'll need to begin your saber training, if you wish to carry one."
Yui gave an affirmative nod. "I do wish to learn how to use one. I will also carry my dual, Eldritch infused wakazashi. My bow, I can just reach into the aether and pluck it from its place on the wall. I can also change to several different outfits almost instantly. Never know when more armor will be needed, or better all terrain footwear."
"You see," Ro gave her daughter's knee a friendly squeeze, with a nod of approval backing the gesture. "If your Eldritch abilities remain the power you wield, you're already adjusting to how best to use them as my apprentice. How best to use them for yourself. You're already attuned to both the secular and the metaphysical, and being a scientist on top of that only heightens your wisdom. However, being as young as you are I'm sure we'll be working on your self-control. So, the Control discipline is where we shall begin. How to harness the energy field created by all living things so your body can achieve longevity and endurance."
Being fine with that, Yui's mind was already thinking through various Meji apparel designs. As the Quazi (Catfolk) representative for the Kudo Family/Clan, it would be tasteful and presentable to all. Perhaps something in the family colors of white with red and gold trim.
"Captain Kudo, Admiral Stone and company are here to see you."
Ro and Yui both got to their feet even as the Captain responded. "Send them in, please." The two women stepped out from around the lounge table even as the Admiral and a small group of people entered the office and came to stand in the proper place. "Captain, Yui," Stone gave Yui a big smile and a grandfatherly wink. "Good to see you again, Granddaughter."
Yui was bouncing in place and then just suddenly stepped in and hugged Aaron Stone. "Grampa!" She gave him a kiss on the cheek, another hug, and then stepped back and got proper. "I love you, Grandfather. Chancellor Barney looks forward to your return to Quaza."
"His return?" Ro made the query, the others going quiet as they all looked the Admiral's way.
Stone gave a shrug. "Diplomatic mission. Command felt that at least one flag officer should be sent out to introduce ourselves. I was already out this way riding around on USS Nautilus. So, I called Yui and we set it up. Thank you, Yui. I do hope you consider diplomatic service in your future." However, there were things that needed to be seen to so he got them back on track, the group listening as he laid out the shift in Starfleet Liaison post, also known as Fleet Captain. Captain Ro Kudo was now, officially, placed on inactive reserve, rank and privileges still in good standing. If need be she could be recalled to active duty fairly easily but, for now, she was retired without being retired. With Captain Loewen being a new father, he was promoted to Fleet Captain status and will take over where Ro leaves off. Doctor Loewen and her husband Captain Loewen will live on the station to better raise their daughter in a more conducive atmosphere.
Yui, having sent in a request to Starfleet to serve in the Science Department here on M-69, has been approved. Also, your medical training has been sent to Doctor Williams. Medeical sciences are sciences so, if you choose to work in the infirmary then Starfleet will approve that as well. But, only if the Chief Medical Officer agrees. If you wish to serve in diplomatic situations I can temporarily assign you as a civilian envoy of the Federation. Noting Yui's nod of agreement, the Admiral made a note on his palm PADD.
"The USS Diligent, a Berlin-class, is being sent out this way. A light cruiser designed along the same parameters as the old Miranda-class. Cant take a punch, strike back, and also be a peaceful explorer with the latest equipment and technology for that end." Stone had kept his eyes moving, but staying neutral as they scanned the group as he spoke. Lieutenant Commander Sheyla stood off to his left and he purposely had avoided looking too far her way. "The USS Capernaum will be heading out to another assignment more to its design. The crew being kept was compiled by Lieutenant T'Pri for me, and all will be notified if they get to remain a part of this crew, or move on. "Captain Sheyla, does that sound good for you?"
Everyone looked her way, quiet, as she seemed to be lost in thought on something. When she had heard her name her eyes came back to the group. "Yes, Admiral." Then her mind caught up with her senses. "Wait...did you just call me Captain?"
"I did. Captain Sheyla, USS Diligent. It's all here." Stone waved his PADD slightly. "When the ship arrives, the crew assigned to her will immediately begin boarding and getting settled. The Nautilus crew is helping in that regard."
"Thank you, Admiral," Sheyla said.
"Don't thank me, Sheyla," Stone responded. "Thank yourself. Your record spoke for itself."
With all of that out of the way, everyone got themselves a beverage and then sat, or stood around the office chatting and catching up. Ken Kudo had been told to come with Sheyla, so he was here, standing near to his wife, Ro. Yui had nearly popped one of his ribs she had hugged him so hard. Things were changing.
