OOC: I chose the brown rank color as a sign of someone being an active member of the Meji Order, not just living that lifestyle. Please, add in anyone else who wants to be involved in the JP. I was thinking that the good Dr. Williams should be here for Yui's query about medical. Thanks.
ON:
Master Ro and her Acolyte, Meji Yui, entered the front office for the CO and command staff of M-69. Ro wore her Meji duds, with the chocolate brown hooded cloak over top of it. Yui, in her form fitting advanced body glove armor, also had a hooded cloak over top. Her overcloak was also chocolate brown in color, if just a shade darker. "Hello," Ro said to the assistant out front. "Master Ro Kudo and Yui Kudo, here to see Commodore Sureth and Commander Devroe if at all possible."
"One moment, Captain Kudo." The younger woman knew who Ro was. Not many aboard M-69 did not. She tapped the comm key for the Commodore's office.
" Please enter " Sureth answered.
Ro got Yui moving, noting that her daughter was nervous. She could sense it coming from her in a steady wave. Both ladies entered the Commodore's professional sanctum. "Always a pleasure, Commodore Sureth." Ro said this as they approached the guest chairs facing the Vulcan's desk.
Yui, for her part, got to a point of standing behind one of the chairs, then gave a Japanese bow of greeting and respect. "A pleasure, Commodore. I hope we have not come at a bad time?"
" This is a working facility. How may I be of service?" Sureth replied.
"Go ahead, Acolyte," said Ro. "You first."
Yui glanced over at her Master and Mother, then looked back to Mister Sureth. "Commodore, I put in a petition to serve in the Science department here on M-69, as a civilian in civil service. I was curious as to whether or not that posting had been accepted. The Federation Science Bureau supported my decision and, why I applied." They both stood there patiently, letting Sureth collect his thoughts.
" As a civilian? I suppose we can always use a fresh mind in the science department. Currently Lieutenant Commander Croesus is heading up that department. What is your major field of study?" Sureth asked.
Starting to settle down from her internal anxiety of facing a flag officer, Yui began to speak in a more level tone now that business was being discussed. "Particle physics, archaeology, and astromycology for the base disciplines, Sir. I also research into the life sciences; chemistry, biology, all that."
As the pause went a few moments, Ro gave a light clearing of the throat. "Yui, you might want to mention your medical training, too?"
"Oh, right," said Yui, glancing at her mom a moment before the eyes came back to Sureth. "I've been trained in nursing and have been certified to the level of field medic, nurse practitioner, and EMT. All part of my scientific interests in every discipline, Sir." She then decided to go forward with something more. "I am not opposed to taking orders and directions, Commodore. I know how Starfleet works, having two parents who both serve. Like Nurse Chapel, I want to start as a civilian Science Officer/scientist, and if I find Starfleet appealing, I may join."
Doctor Williams had just walked in to Sureth's office with some requisitions for some new equipment when he heard the young woman's mention of medicine "Excuse the interruption but did I hear you say young lady something about medical certifications" Ramvek inquired hoping he's wasn't interrupting the meeting.
Yui half turned away from Sureth, able to keep him in the periphery so she could address the new arrival. "Doctor Williams! A pleasure," she said, giving a slight bow of respect. "I was just informing Commodore Sureth of my skills, and where I might be helpful. My main assignment, if approved, will be the Science department. But, I do have an interest in assisting in the Infirmary, Doctor."
Thinking for a moment "Yui is it?" as he paused "Tell you what once everything is sorted out, and you are still interested in Medical, stop by the Medical Operations area; I'm sure we can find a spot for you given Medical has greatly expanded in the new Station" Williams suggested with a smile.
"Thank you, Doctor. I am honored." Again, Yui gave a slight bow from the waist, hands down at her sides when she did so. "I will do so as soon as I am settled more appropriately. I'll even cover the Infirmary on graveyard shift, Gamma shift, whatever it's called." Yui then looked to the Commodore. "Same with Sciences, Sir. I'm willing to take the shifts nobody else wants."
Ramvek grinned "I will be sure to keep that in mind but we can discuss it further when you stop by" he responded happy for the extra help.
" Thank you Doctor ." Sureth replied.
"If I may interject since Yui has said her piece," said Ro. "I am now in reserve status for Starfleet, to focus on the Meji Order. However, my captaincy still stands as I am not fully retired, yet. Commodore, would you allow me to see to the Diplomatic department? I would be there as a Meji, but also as Starfleet if it was necessary. And, as always, represent the Federation first and foremost."
" As I understand it Starbase M-69 is about to be inspected by the higher ups. Commander David Wallace is our Intel officer and has reported new changes to our Diplomatic department is coming. I will have to check with him further concerning the requirements for that office. Is there anything else?" Sureth replied.
Ro gave a nod at his explanation, and when he asked the query she responded. "That should be all, Commodore. Thank you for your time. Yui, shall we." She turned and headed for the door.
Yui stepped a pace as she looked at Ramvek. "I'll see you later, Doctor," she said quietly as they left. She looked back over her shoulder at Sureth as she went. "I'll find Croesus and work out any particulars, Mister Sureth. Thank you for bending an ear." With that, the two women left.
