Lieutenant Sheyla was in Sickbay aiding Doctor Ito with medical supply checks. As they had been going along all morning, with the ship moving about to get M-69 to its new home, the Doctor had decided to get caught up on his meds catalog. Most medications could be readily replicated for ease of use and expediency, but there were those that needed to be synthesized by hand, or had to come in a raw form and stored under lock and key; as the old saying went. The two physicians had been talking and getting to know one another as they worked, both finding the other easy to work with and competent in their duties. Yama Ito was Japanese, which Sheyla found fascinating since she had visited Japan while attending the Academy, finding their history and culture quite fascinating. As a science officer as well as a medical officer, it gave her a chance to delve into anthropology and archaeology in regards to the Asian culture.

"I noticed in your file, Sheyla, that you just recently acquired your MD." Ito was talking while visually inspecting a shelf of medical capsules for the injectors. "Congratulations, Doctor."

"I appreciate that, thank you, Sir." Sheyla responded, her own eyes scanning a different shelf in the secure medications locker.

Ito gave a chuckle, stopping what he was doing to look over at her. "Thank yourself, Doctor. You're the one who advanced your own knowledge."

Sheyla, not to be rude, copied his stance and looked at the CMO. "I was going to go with just nurse, to the level of say-a PA. That way I would have more time for science pursuits outside of medicine. But, after thinking on it I figured I could possibly be sent somewhere out on the edge of known space and a doctor would be more necessary. And, as luck would have it, that's where I ended up."

Ito grinned. "Your story is similar to my own. I'm just glad that when the Bohr moved on Starfleet accepted my application for the Nazgul. Far more patients, but more space and better labs."

Sheyla gave a giggle. "I do love some lab work, now and then."

"As do I," admitted Ito. The two of them continued their medication catalog, seeing that they were full up on everything they needed. The two of them went out to Sickbay proper, standing near to a biobed as Yama added Sheyla's data to his own, logged it all, then sent a report to both the Captain and the acting XO, Lieutenant Billi.

Once that was done Ito invited his fellow physician into his office, pouring himself a cup of tea and using body language to ask her if she would like some. Sheyla gave a nod and sat down, with Ito pouring her a cup and placing it on a saucer, to set it before her on the edge of his desk facing the guest chairs. "Thank you," said Sheyla, stirring the tea with the spoon provided to allow it to cool a bit. "Seems we're all caught up in Sickbay. What's next on the agenda?"

"Crew physicals," stated Ito as he took his own chair after setting his cup on his desk blotter. "With the base freshly moved then we have the time to get them done without too much interference or time constraints. We'll start with enlisted and then go up from there."

Sheyla sipped her tea, loving the taste of most Earth teas, minus any sugars or other additives that obstructed what was natural. Earl Grey was a favorite, the amount of bitterness only adding to the aroma and flavor. "What about the Bridge crew, Yama? Get the Alpha bunch out of the way before the enlisted, in case we get a call."

"Excellent thinking," said Ito, also taking sips from his tea in between. "I'll send word out to the XO and Captain, to have all Alpha shift Bridge officers report first for their physicals."

"Just doing my part, Doctor." Sheyla gave a grin. "Not even you can do all the thinking by yourself. No offense." Another grin.

Ito gave a few nods and a smile. "It is the foolish doctor who thinks they can do it all themselves. Like you, for instance. I noticed that you trained in field medicine, even delving into antiquated ways of providing medical assistance. You got high marks on your sewing techniques."

Sheyla chuckled in her throat. "On Andoria that kind of medicine has saved many lives, and still does. We learn early how to cauterize and sew up wounds until we can get the patient to a facility. Plus, away teams always need a good doctor among them, and one who can handle themselves."

"I'm no slouch," stated Ito casually. "But, not my preference. I like the old hospital environment. If you don't mind I'll mark you as the go to medical officer for away teams."

"Please do." Said Sheyla. "If need be I can double as a science officer, too. Above and beyond the life sciences, that is."

"That decision would be for Lieutenant Ainkara, but I'm sure she'll be glad to have another science officer around during such times." Explained Ito. "She is Voran, by the way. Not quite Vulcan, not quite Romulan, but definitely a Vulcanoid. However, her file has certain information about her physiology that is most unusual, but well-documented by Starfleet medical. I'll give you permission to look into it, in case you need to care for her, but it is to remain classified."

Sheyla gave a solemn nod. "Understood, Yama. I would never break the confidence of a patient. But, if it creases your brow, then I shall look into it."

Yama gave a nod and smile, the two of them finishing their tea. He got up and began to put the crockery back over on the tray with the teapot. "You will find it most fascinating, I assure you." Ito noted how Sheyla's antennae wiggled a bit, then both aimed directly at him and bent forward a bit, denoting that he had her full attention.

Sheyla got to her feet. "Well, then. If you no longer need me until the physicals, I shall go catch up on some reading." She gave a wink and smile.

"Of course, Doctor. Dismissed." Ito watched the Andorian woman leave his office, shaking his head slightly and grinning to himself.
