Mission: NAZGUL: {CD&MISSION} Return to Basics
Location: M-69
Timeline: Current

ON:

Lieutenant JG Sean C. Loewen stepped off of the transport runabout and onto the deck of M-69, side-stepping out of the way so that others could depart the small starship behind him. His head was on a swivel as he looked around at the expanse of just this docking bay, knowing the class of starbase 69 was, and how much larger everything else would be. Nothing like parking New York City in the middle of a hole in space, he thought. Seeing the Security personnel checking PADDs and identities, Loewen walked over and got in line. Stepping up he handed over his personal PADD and waited as they confirmed his orders, and who he was, before handing the device back and letting him know that docking arm 7 was where the Nazgul was scheduled to dock at. Thanking them, Sean adjusted his bag on his left shoulder and walked on.

Yes, this facility rivaled Earth Spacedock for both size and personnel. Starfleet and civilians were constantly moving from one place to another, with maintenance teams seen here and there making adjustments and repairs to systems that needed them. Wearing the vest variant uniform, Loewen's red shirt was on display with sleeves, collar and a portion of chest able to be seen. Stopping others in uniform a few times Sean was directed where to go to get to docking arm seven. With his casual stride it took another twenty minutes for him to find the corridors leading into the docking arm, which had extended out from the superstructure of 69 as it was supposed to. That got Sean's blood pumping. If the arm was extended it was a sure sign that the USS Nazgul was close by and coming in for docking. Stopping at a viewport with eyes looking all around the exterior, he could see that all traffic in certain lanes was being diverted to provide a straight path for the Nazgul to follow. It showed that the CO of 69, Commodore Sureth, had a well-oiled machine. Which meant that his command staff had to be top notch, as well, to keep such a massive facility in good order. Loewen just hoped that the Nazgul had the same type of fire in their belly. If not it could explain why he had been sent out to the fringes of known space, to come in and replace those that were not up to the task of wilderness adventures. His eyes caught sight of a small object in the distance, the myriad flashes and colors of the nebula glinting off of its metallic hull.

As Loewen watched, the starship became more distinct as it got closer. Eventually, it was close enough to distinguish its features. A light cruiser with all the bells and whistles, her lines straight and bold. As a Mission Advisor and Operations officer, Loewen hoped that he would get a chance to steer on occasion. His FC courses and small craft piloting were up to par, enough to be cleared to 'take the stick' when needed. It had also been part of his command officer training. If you are in command then you need to be able to use all consoles on the Bridge to keep your ship functioning during emergencies. It slotted him as an officer able to take the conn when the CO needed him to.

Maintaining his place at the window, Loewen enjoyed the solace of the moment. Alone, aloof, and watching a massive machine move with grace and purpose. It never ceased to amaze him at times.
