NAZGUL: {CD&MISSION} Return to Basics
Location: Delta Flyer
Timeline: Current

Having slept for four hours, Lieutenant JG Ainkara had gotten up, showered and applied hygiene before returning to the task at hand. The Iconian stasis pod, even though it did not look to be an actual Iconian design, but a copy. A damn good one. It took over an hour to break through the coding for the lock mechanism, even using the computer and a tricorder, but eventually she had succeeded. "Time for a look inside."
Standing back with her tricorder in hand, Kara tapped the keys and sent the signal to unlock and open, with the pod reacting and giving off a loud hiss as the hermetic seal was broken and the cold air of hibernation blew out from around the hatch cover. The lid lifted up on its hinges, to the right of the pod, revealing a synthetic flesh covered bust disconnected from some kind of android body. This was not what Kara had been expecting. A head separated from a body, none of it organic as far as she could tell. Stepping in closer, alongside the 'sleeping' bust and strange alloy body that was a combination of purple and silver alloy intertwined on the droid body like the muscle of an organic with all the epidermas removed. It was both fascinating and revolting at the same time. The android body seemed to be a bit bulky compared to the bust, and denoted female characteristics such as the swell of breasts and the slim abdomen and hips.
Scanning along the body and bust, as close as a few inches over them both, the tricorder told Kara that the body was an unknown alloy, one never seen before. The bust was a synthetic flesh over top of an alloy skull and neck, the same unknown alloy as the body was made from. That was where the similarity ended, and the surprise waited. Kara carefully scanned every inch of both body and bust, and once she reached the head she set for a deep scan. Encased within the alloy skull was an organic brain, which was in a deep state of hibernation and therefore produced no neural activity. It was, however, fully alive according to scans. Kara set the scans to determine what species the brain belonged to and found no match. Odd, she thought. By comparison, the closest match to the way the brain was shaped and the two hemispheres it was comprised of, said it was Human.
Why? Kara thought. Why would anyone build an android Human, a young female, complete with an organic brain, and then lock it away? Wanting more than ever to speak to the being, Kara reached out and activated the multi-armed droid and ordered it to begin piecing the bust and body together, thoroughly and completely, and to let her know when it was done. But, the android was to remain inactive until she directed otherwise. The droid did not care one way or the other and simply acknowledged the directives of its new master. It began to go to work to connect body with head.
Going back over to the bed she had folded down from the wall, still feeling a bit tired after a long day and a stimulant, Kara laid down and closed her eyes as she told the droid to wake her when it was done.

Kara felt a nudge to her shoulder, a gentle push several times as her eyes fluttered open. The octo-droid was standing over her, its circular, wheeled base having brought it over to her. It spoke to her. "The project is completed. It awaits your final touches." The vocabulator said to her.
Getting to her feet and rubbing her face to wake up, Kara gave the droid a nod and took up her tricorder, returning to the pod. As was stated, body and bust were now connected. The technology of this being was amazing, with the body and bust providing ways to get oxygen to the brain without weakening the protective skull. The droid rolled up beside Kara.
"The nanites await your activation. They will fine tune and streamline the system." The droid explained.
"Nanites?" Kara's eyes went from the droid back to the 'girl' lying before her. Deciding to take an extra step in favor of the 'girl', Kara went to the replicator and created real Humanoid hair, raven black. She came back with the hair in a bin and set it aside, looking at the droid. "Apply this hair to her head."
The droid had one question. "Any particular style or design?"
Kara tapped at her tricorder, bringing up pictures of random young women and the modern hairstyles. She kept sliding the pictures left while saying "No, no, no." The fifth picture came into view and she liked the look in comparison to the build of the girl's face. She held it up for the droid to see with his lens, and commit it to memory. "This one."
"As you wish. You do realize the hair will remain but will not grow?"
"That's fine," said Kara. "She only needs it to make her look more normal. Please, get started." Kara found it odd that she used a gratuity with the droid, but then remembered that Captain Green treated her droid like he was family, and often said to Cosmo; please and thank you. The droid began to work on implanting the hair, one strand at a time, into the synthetic flesh while Kara looked to the side panels on the pod, finding the activation sequence for the girl's internal nanites. As she watched the body of the girl began to compress and become tighter, more 'Human' in appearance as the bulkiness became streamlined. From neck line down to the toes it thinned out, became tighter, and more agile in appearance. The surprise was apparent on Kara's face as she observed the changes.
Going back to the replicator and feeding it the tricorder readings for body shape and sizes, Kara created a few sets of clothes for the girl, and a final sleeveless bodyglove style leatheris outfit all one piece. While the droid worked Kara began to slip the pants on the girl, having the droid halt as she had to move the body around while doing so, allowing the droid to continue when the pants were on and buttoned up. The pants were a slate grey, so Kara chose a zip up blouse and again halted the droid to get the top on the girl, zipping up to a proper height on her front before laying her back, the top being a dark burgundy color. She allowed the droid to continue as she took up the dark brown ankle boots and applied them to the girl's feet. They zipped up along the outside ankle, fitting snug. There, she thought, now she looks more normal. Well, as normal as one can look with android parts visible on the arms and just below the neckline where the top did not cover. Kara then had the time to observe the droid working on the hair, the multiple arms moving with speed and grace as it applied the hair perfectly, providing the girl with a thick, strong head of natural hair.
As the droid continued to work Kara dove into the data logs for this girl, reading and reading as the time passed. According to the notes, provided by the unknown creator and written in Federation Standard (English), the girl would have to eat and drink to provide nutrients for the brain and the nanites. They rejuvenated and remained functioning by the intake of organic fuel; namely, food and drink. The notes did state that the subject could also plug an EP line into her belly button and intake electro-plasma as a means of repairing damaged nanites and structure. Kara had seen a spot that actually denoted the place where the belly button should be, but it was not like it was on the average humanoid. There was no 'hole' to be seen. She could only think that it must open up when needed and the EP line could then be inserted to offset damage. A truly brilliant design, this being. Whoever this benefactor was they had had a mind for androids, even above and beyond the awe of positronics. Here, they had mixed technologies to create something far more complex; an actual AI, living, breathing being. It was fascinating.
It was not until the droid stated it was through with the hair that Kara realized she had been standing there for a couple of hours as she was reading. Looking up, blinking her brain back to the room and occupants, she looked to the girl. Now, she was definitely a girl, with a full head of raven black hair, the length long enough to brush the tops of her shoulders. With everything done, and the data finished downloading to the Delta computer core, Kara began to remove the items and get them off the ship. The pod, the droid, everything. She had moved the girl over to the biobed, and upon lifting her, found that the alloy she was made of was rather light and not as heavy as her eyes had led her to believe. Getting her on the biobed Kara placed her arms along her sides and then covered her with a blanket from the ankles up to the neck. If this girl was designed to be as humanoid as possible then perhaps treating her as such was the key. Going from a cold hibernation pod to a warm room and covered by a blanket to remain warm might just get her nanites to awaken the brain. It still showed to be alive but inactive. Kara found herself hoping that all this had not been done in vain, and that the brain actually was non-functional.
Nothing left to do, Kara went to the front of the ship, closing the door between fore and aft sections, and sat down in her pilot's seat. There, she peeled some oranges and leaned back, reading further about the girl in the back from the words of her creator. The mysterious creator still remained unnamed but Kara would continue to search for records on anyone with such knowledge in robotics, cybernetics, nanotech and positronic research while she had free time aboard the USS Nazgul. If the girl woke up then maybe she could provide more insight.
