Mission:
FINAL JUDGEMENT
Location: Starbase M-69
Timeline: Concurrent
On
Receiving word from Starfleet that his father had been killed in the line of duty Starbase 400's Operations Officer quickly boarded a ship that would take him to the far distant Sagitarrius sector.
This journey would take a while but Croesus didn't care as it would avail him the time to prepare for saying goodbye to the actual father and not just the myth of the man he had known as his father.
Corresponding via long range signal Croesus made contact with Starbase M-69s Chief Counselor.
[ Counselor Veran-Dallas...I am Lieutenant Commander Croesus of Starbase 400. Deke Rivers is...was.my father. ] Croesus began is generic message to the Counselor.
Isabelle was in her office. [Commander, I’m so sorry about your father. I understand there are plans for you to take Deke home?]
[ Yes Ma'am. I am on route to your station and to do just that. I also want to speak to Commodore Sureth and a Captain Shauna Callaghan.]
[That can be arranged Commander, I’ll see to it you’re cleared for docking when you get here. Speaking of Captain Callaghan, I don’t know if you knew, but she and your father were in a relationship. She took his passing quite hard.]
[ Dad sent me a message about her actually. She must be very tough to want to have dealt with Deke's personality. Thank you Counselor, I look forward to meeting you. Croesus out.]
Isabelle had to admit meeting family members for such a sad duty was always hard. “Veran-Dallas to Commander Callaghan, Commander Croesus is enroute to collect his father...Captain Rivers, for return home.”
Shauna’s stomach churned as she heard the message, losing Deke had been hard. “Understood Counsellor, we’ll be ready for his arrival.”
< Courier HARROGATE >
Croesus ride on the courier Harrogate was not swift and for the next few days he relaxed in his quarters, remembering his interactions with his father. Some of their verbal fights and the moment he saw Deke cry after the death of his second wife.
< SB69 >
On the station preparations had been made for Croesus’ arrival, Deke’s body was ready to go inside with him was a picture from his quarters of he & Shauna that she’d put with him. Having said her goodbye’s she could only wait for Croesus to arrive.
As his orbiting vessel was cleared in the distance a large Ion cloud was leaving the system. Remembering his share of those he could only hope the station was OK.
Arriving to the Harrogates transporter room Croesus prepared to beam over.
Arriving Croesus could smell a.different fragrance to this station that no ship or base had. A perfume or cologne that both complimented the air and tingled his senses.
" Welcome to M-69 Commander. Your quarters have been assigned. Our automated security device will guide you sir." the transporter officer directed.
" Thank you sir."
“Perhaps a more personal touch” Isabelle offered a smile as she walked into the transporter room. “I’m Isabelle Verna-Dallas, it’s nice to finally meet you face to face Commander. If you’ll come with me I’ll take you to your quarters.”
" Thank you Lieutenant. I see now why dear old dad liked this place. The Lieutenants are prettier." Croesus commented as Deke might have also done. The only other distinction was his Klingon like appearance.
Isabelle smiled as they walked. “Thank you Commander, you certainly have your father's charm. I understand that you’re a new father? Congratulations!”
" Thank you. Growing every day. Before we go to my room can we go to the spot where my father was killed?"
“If you feel the need to Commander” Isabelle nodded. In her years as a Counsellor she’d heard many a request by grieving families. “Please follow me.”
Around the corridors and stopping at the spot a small red dot marked the spot Deke Rivers had laid following the brutal Assul attack.
Croesus paused and then took out a dakTagh, weapon, from his satchel. Looking to the ceiling a emotional and very guttural Klingon yell arose from his throat. Despite being human, Deke had been honored by the Klingons as a warrior and thus surely would go to heaven.
" Thank you Lieutenant. You can take me to my quarters now." Croesus replied.
“Please..” Isabelle motioned for Croesus to follow her. “I’m sure your father will take his place amongst the honoured dead. He earned it.”
Following Isabella made Croesus remember back to his first day on the 400. A kind Ensign had shown him the same type tour to his quarters.
Dekes quarters opened and the aesthetics clearly called out as the velvet dogs playing cards wasn’t enough.
“We were going to clear your father’s things, but when I received your call I thought I’d arrange for it to be left for you. If you’d like any help packing things please let me know.” Isabelle offered a kind and caring smile.
Looking around the room Croesus saw very little of Deke and a lot of the myth he had become. " Thank you but I've got this. Thanks again ..Isabella."

Croesus wasn't sure if Deke had kept the item here but somewhere resting in a little box were the very components that Deke had collected linking him to a different time. A different trek of reality.
