THE KINGDOMS COME AND GO
Location: Starbase M-69
Timeline: Concurrent

With all that transpired on the station of late life had thrived. So much so that Jules Nadeau restaurant had taken off not only with food but also a local singing sensation named Mirana.
Mirana had been a prisoner once and was destined to become the Assul Queen but now she had found a life as a normal young woman.
Waiting tables and singing for the customers.
Elsewhere in the station with Sureth gone Captain Callaghan prepared for the visit of Warchief Loth the Assul Emperor to be.
But her visitor that immediately appeared materialized before Shauna's eyes.
" Shauna it's me Jaeth I am in great need of your help." Jaeth stated as he orange glow filled the room.
Shauna was momentarily surprised but soon gathered her thoughts. “Jaeth, what can I do for you?”
" The Dragon Queen is dying but her Trill being still lives. You are a part of that beings symbiosis. Would you be willing to take the symbiont?" Jaeth asked.
“Me!?” Shauna was surprised by the request, but she had said if there was something she could do to help she would. “You’ll need to bring her here, to our doctor if it’s possible?”
" She is aboard the station. The Overwatch brought her here with me. But she is dying soon," Jaeth replied.
Shauna nodded. “Right, let’s get down to Sickbay.”
A being from the Overwatch named Ardoo materialized into sickbay pushing a gurney with a rather old female dressed in black smelling of sulfur.
" We are in need of a doctor." Ardoo said to a nurse.
Lieutenant Stone heard the voice as she turned and recognized Ardoo but not sure about the being on the gurney. Tapping her Comm "Doctor Williams, Main Sick Bay stat! as she walked over "Ardoo what a surprise.....who do you have with you" Heidi inquired pretty much knowing the answer from a time at her previous assignment.
" The Nurse, I have with me the Dragon Queen. We need a Trill host very soon or the symbiont dies." Ardoo replied.
Hearing the call Ramvek immediately stopped what he was doing and quickly made his way to the requested location. Seeing Ardoo and his companion he knew exactly what it was as he inquired "Ardoo the Symbiont doesn't look too good; who do you have for a host" he inquired with great concern knowing time was of the essence.
" To my knowledge there is only one Trill host aboard. Ardoo replied.
“That would be me” Shauna stepped into Sickbay walking over to Ramvek. “‘I’ve already been asked if I’ll be the new host, but I’m only half Trill I’m not sure if the symbiont will bond with me.”
Ramvek looked at Shauna with some concern "Captain I am not going to sugar coat it" then he paused a moment "Considering your heritage you have a fifty fifty percent chance of a successful bonding process. If you choose to go through with the procedure, it will take some time for the two of you to become one with the other. I also strongly advise you have weekly meetings with Ship's Counselor for awhile at least, just to keep track of your mental state" he explained then looked to the Symbiont then back to Shauna "The alternative is if you do nothing she will die. The choice is yours."
Shauna nodded. “I have little choice Doctor, I can’t let her die.”
The Dragon Queen was still dressed in black but her age greatly revealed the old Trill woman Shauna had met years ago on Assul.
" You must hurry. " the old Queen whispered.
Hearing everyone's request Doctor Williams let out a brief quiet sigh as he turned towards Heidi "Nurse Stone prep the O.R., I'm going to need an assist" he ordered wanting to get the procedure going as quickly as possible.
"Understood Doctor" Heidi responded then immediately left for the O.R.
"Computer start the Emergency Medical Hologram in Main Sick Bay." Williams requested. Moments later "Hello I am Doctor Gram, please state the nature of the medical emergency."
"Doctor Gram, we need your help. This Symbiont needs to be placed inside Captain Callaghan and your capabilities far exceed mine in this particular situation" Ramvek explained. "Yes they do and I can be of assistance in this procedure" Dr. Gram replied.
The old woman looked up with tears in her eyes and then closed them.
" I never meant to let this evil cause such pain." she cried.
“Hush now” Shauna offered a comforting smile. “All will be as it is meant to be.” She smiled warmly. “Doctor, please inform Captain O’Connell of the situation for me.” She offered a brief smile hoping that things wouldn’t change between Jamie and herself afterwards.
“One moment Commander” Isabelle offered a smile as she walked over from where she’d been visiting a patient. “Are you sure about this? Once it’s done there’s no going back.”
Shauna nodded as she looked at Isabelle. “It may sound crazy, but I said I’d do whatever I had to in order to help. I’m ready to do this Counsellor, just be around afterwards I may need you.”
Isabelle nodded. “I’ll be right here” she nodded to Ramvek.
The old lady fell asleep as the procedure prep was done. Inside her withered form the symbiont awaited its transformation into a new host.
Doctor Williams gave Isabelle a smile "I will let you know Counselor when the procedure is completed" he commented before ushering Shauna into the O.R. with Dr. Gram being ahead of them with the old women.
Once inside Ramvek stood by Shauna's bio-bed attempting to comfort her as he grabbed a neuro-link placing it on her forehead "This device will take a couple of minutes to take over your body. When it does you will not be awake or feel anything. When the procedure is finished I am going to keep you sedated for the next twenty four to thirty six hours to give your body and the Symbiont time to bond" then he paused "You may experience some strange dreams recalling events you never participated in. Please don't be alarmed as the Symbiont is showing you her memories of lives past; this is perfectly normal. Once we are satisfied with the bonding process then we will bring you back around. Also you have my word as soon as this is finished I will personally contact Captain O'Connell for you and apprise him of the situation."
Williams had no more than finished his explanation when he saw Shauna's eyes close.....she was ready.
Looking at Heidi "Nurse Stone I want you to keep constant watch of the vitals for both Shauna and the old women. Doctor Gram I will start forming the pouch in Shauna's abdomen while you prep the Symbiont. Once the pouch is formed I want you to place the being and make all the required connections. Hopefully everything will go smoothly" Ramvek ordered.
Ramvek for the next thirty minutes made the required incisions to Shauna's abdomen carefully forming the pouch that would be the Symbionts new home. Once finished he called out "Nurse how is our Patients doing" he inquired.
"Good Doctor Williams; Shauna's are very stable and the old women's are within the limits they should be" Heidi replied relieved things so far are going well.
"There, that should do it" Williams whispered "Dr. Gram the pouch is set whenever you want to proceed. A brief few seconds later Gram turned ceding the Symbiont "I am ready Doctor Williams" as she brought over the patient placing it carefully inside Shauna. Williams stood watching the EMH carefully as she started making all the required connections between Symbiont and Host. Ramvek was amazed at how Gram could change the size of her hands and her finger configuration making the connections the least evasive as possible. Times like theses it was nice to have an EMH aboard.
Several minutes later "All the connections have been made Doctor Williams if you would like to close up the Captain" Dr. Gram stated as only a computer program could.
"Excellent Dr. Gram, great work and thank you for your assistence" Ramvek stated with a smile.
"You are welcome Doctor Williams, after all that is some of what I am programmed to do" Gram stated "Will you require my services any further."
"Not at this time but I will contact you if I do" Ramvek replied grinning over her previous response; Gram seemed so real he forgets that she is only a holographic computer program.
Turning to Heidi "Nurse Stone please make sure the Bets Shift Head Nurse is brought up to speed on all that has transpired" he ordered.
"If it's all the same to you Doctor I'd like to work extra shifts myself to keep an eye on Captain Callaghan, besides I doubt I could sleep very well until I know she and the Symbiont are doing well and out of the woods" she replied with a smile.
"Thank you that would be most beneficial "then he paused "I will compensate you for this in the future" checking the time "Now I guess we wait until tomorrow and see if this joining is going to be a success or not" he commented. Walking over to Isabelle with a smile "We are finished and from what I can ascertain the procedure should go as planned; we'll know better tomorrow of course." Now he needed to keep his promise and contact Captain O'Connell.
Isabelle nodded. “Any problems just give me a call, I’ll pop back when Shauna is awake.”
[ Next Day ]
The next day Ramvek checked on his Patients being very pleased how well they seemed to be doing. Standing by Shauna's bed with a smile he removed the neuro-link allowing her to regain consciousness. A few minutes later Shauna opened her eyes as Ramvek inquired "Shauna, how are you feeling?"
Isabelle had arrived in time for Shauna’s awakening, she wanted to be sure that she was coping with her new situation.
Opening her eyes Shauna looked around, taking a moment to look towards Ramvek. “Shauna? Oh…that’s right that’s me.” She offered a smile as she moved to sit up a little. “Sorry, my head is awash with so many memories it’s all a big jumble!”
Isabelle nodded. “Take your time, this isn’t going to be easy. You’re not just Shauna Callaghan anymore, from what I managed to find out you’re Shauna Vehn now.”
“Vehn” Shauna nodded. “That’s right, I’m the second…no, third? Host of the Vehn symbiont. No, that’s not right. I am the second, but the dragon queen became part of us too. It’s all so confusing!”
Doctor Williams checked Shauna's vitals being quite pleased with what he was seeing "Well, looks like the joining went very well physically" he stated with a smile before continuing "Like Isabelle stated this will take some time for your brain to process all the new information so you will need to be patient. That is why I strongly recommended you see the Counselor on a regular basis for awhile."
"Understood" Shauna nodded and offered a smile. "Looks like we'll be spending some time together Counsellor."
Isabelle nodded. "We will indeed, once you're up and about drop in and see me. I'll be available whenever you feel you need to talk."
[MORGUE ]
Mirana had finished her shift and was heading back to her quarters when she suddenly paused and took a deep breath. Turning around she then took the lift down to a lower level.
The corridor was dimly lit and the door ahead had an encryption that had to be used to open. Mirana wasn't sure how it happened but the doors opened allowing her to enter the room, the Morgue.
Lying on a table covered with a sheet rested the remains of the Dragon Queen.
Mirana tried to turn around but the inner voice led her to get closer, the unsheathed the head and then look deep into the old body as the eyes of the corpse stared deep into her eyes...
Mirana then found herself back on the Promenade heading back to her quarters unaware what had just occured.
As she rested dreams filled her head of dragons and darkness and then of a great war. So much so she screamed out loud enough that others could hear.
