Mission:
Stellar Problems
Location: Club Bliss
Timeline: Current
ON:
Taavis was sitting at the bar as a customer, chatting with Ro, with Manny involved in the chat from the backside of the bar as he and another server gal were mixing drinks. The supper/dinner crowd was mingling out as the club goers were coming in. Whether live performances or house music did not matter as they were looking to enjoy the club scene with friends, lovers, dancing, and drinking. The daily grind for a club on a massive starbase with very little to do. Not saying M-69 did not have holodecks galore, and atriums and what not to offer rest and relaxation but, the social mingle of eateries and pubs just seemed to be a more sought after past time.
Kara entered Club Bliss and saw those she sought to speak with all sitting and chatting at the bar. There was patron chatter going on with people eating bar food and sipping drinks with friends, but the ambient level of conversation was just enough to keep the three and their conversation mainly between them. Reaching into her coat pocket Kara pulled a jump drive from it and palmed it as she approached the trio. "Hello, everyone," she said with a smile.
All three looked at her with surprise and joy in their eyes, even Manny who always seemed to wear a slight grumpus expression on his face. "Kara!" Ro said, getting up and hugging her tight. Taavis stood up too, and when Ro relinquished the woman, Taavis then gave Kara another hug just as warm as Ro had. Manny, on the other side of the bar, gave a friendly nod and a grin, and the okay sign. "Good to see you, girl."
Kara felt all that warmth and love and it made her feel good, and even with her wearing an expression now filled with happiness and relaxation, she handed Taavis something even as the Vulcan sat back down. "That is yours, with conditions, of course."
Taavis examined the jump drive a moment before her eyes came back to Kara. "What is it?" Ro was looking Kara up and down, her eyes showing approval and disapproval at the same time with how she was dressed.
"Been to a Goth party lately?" Ro asked, her tone sarcastic but playful.
Kara shot her a glare. "How I dress is how I dress. If it offends, look away." There was no mirth or playfulness in the retort. Her gaze lingered on Ro's a moment longer before it turned to Taavis. "Apologies, I was interrupted before I could respond." A barb at Ro, and one she did not regret saying. "That, Captain Taavis, is every Federation credit I have. In Starfleet, everything is free, as is just about everything else in the Federation. My credit account is quite substantial for an officer and that is every credit," she motioned at the drive.
Taavis, still looking confused, had to ask. "Okay. Why give them to me of all people?" Manny was now curious, too, and his face showed it even as he wiped out glasses.
"I want to buy you out," said Kara, just like that.
Green, having taken the barbs, let them hit her and fade away. It was clear that Kara had recovered quite well from her trauma...or not. "As simple as that, Kara?"
Surprised by what had been said, Taavis took a moment to respond. "Buy me out? In what way?"
Kara was now conducting business. "Your half of Bliss plus, the SS Harbinger. That will take payments, of course, but I need a ship of that type for business."
Manny finally spoke up. "Kara, dear, I am the other partner. As such, how exactly would this work between you and I?"
"I've thought about that, Manny, while walking from my suite to here." Kara could see that what she was saying now had the attention of all three. "I buy out Taavis for Bliss, the ship being another matter. That makes you and I partners, Manny. WE run the business. One idea was that Taavis could remain on the books as the Founder. Say...twenty percent of all net income simply for creating Bliss. That leaves eighty percent that you and I split fifty-fifty as owners and operators. It honors Taavis, gives her outside income, but she will have no say in where WE take Bliss from here." Manny, nodding along the whole time, seemed to find the idea sound. Taavis even seemed to be warming to the idea, her face showing that what had been proposed sounded very reasonable.
Green was grinning. "Kara, you have come a long way over a few days. No longer a student. With this kind of thinking, and your confidence in yourself, I now name you a full Meji in the Order. It will be official once I have time to add it to the roster. Now," she said to stay with the current topic. "If it were me, Taavis, I would take the deal. You get whatever she has handed you, plus a continuing currency flow for not even being involved. As a captain of a starship, your time will be limited anyway." She shrugged. "Just saying."
Taavis looked to Manny, first. "You're okay with this?" He gave a nod and a yes, winking at Kara after. He was definitely on her side in this. Her eyes going back to Kara, Taavis raised the jump drive up. "Whatever the amount, Bliss and Harbinger are now yours. All relevant legalities will be dealt with over the next few days but, I agree to your terms."
The group all laughed and smiled, hugging each other, and even Manny came around to pick Kara up like a little sister in a tight bear hug.
Taavis gave her a pseudo-serious look. "Kara, just don't change it so much that it doesn't look like Bliss any more, ya know? I still need a place to shore leave that I am comfy in. As for Harbinger, do what you want. I have a Guardian-class to zoom around in." That broke the ice on her anxiety and she gave a warm smile. "Honestly, I can't wait to see what you do with the place."
Manny had already gone back behind the bar, in his spot where he appeared to always be the immovable object. "Don't fret, Taav. We got this. Those brown peepers of hers look chock full of ideas."
With the business side of her visit out of the way, and Green having already taken care of another concern, Kara sat with her friends and had some drinks. She took her trench coat off and had Manny put it behind the bar before doing so. Once sat and sipping she relayed all she had done on Dark Harbor, but did not relinquish the information about Tore Bjorgo and Billi running the show. That was hers to deal with.
