Mission: Stellar Problems
Location: Flt. Captain's office
Timeline: Current

ON:

Once Green and Ski'a parted ways, Ro made her way to her office. The plush, well-decorated office was her sanctuary as Fleet Captain, and she appreciated it. Sometimes solace and serenity, even while working, was a must. Once in her chair and seated forward, Ro got to work going over all messages in regards to fleet resources around the sector. Once that was done, and she had some time to just lean back and relax, she did just that. The Force was telling her that much of her energy was going to the creation and well-being of the daughter within her. As she was sitting back in her chair, Ro closed her eyes for some light meditation, her right hand snaking up her side and onto her belly, using the Force to feel her daughter Yui, to sense her presence and become intimately familiar with the sensation of her life force.

Yui was truly healthy at the moment, her body and brain developing as they should according to what Ro was feeling. There were no threats to her well-being. With that curiosity assuaged, Green then dove into the mind of her daughter. Yes, the brain was still developing but it was there, and many a doctor spoke of the emotional and physical connection between mothers and their unborn children. She could feel that connection through the Force as the Force was energy produced by all living things. Yui, though she was unaware of it herself as of yet, felt safe and secure. Green began to send her developing brain images of herself and Ken, mother and father, with waves of love and protection. Green finished with enveloping her daughter in love, feeling it for what it was in return, then eased away and sat up. She tapped a a few moments on her key pad and a holo-screen came up. It was a direct line.

Within a few moments of opening the channel, Admiral Aaron Stone's smiling face appeared. Green had sent him a hello on the channel for their private conversations. "Ro, so good to see you, sweetheart. Glad you could find time to call." His smile faded as he saw his daughter with her hands locked together in front of her mouth, her eyes welling with tears that started to run down her cheeks. His tone was instant concern. "What's wrong?"

Separating her hands and wiping the tears away, Ro waved them both to try and assuage his concern, with only one word coming out as she fought to get herself under control. "Hormones." Then she giggle sniffled and smiled, still dabbing and wiping her eyes. "Whoa. Okay, I got this. It's good to see you too, dad. You have no idea. Anyway, these are tears of happiness."

Stone's face began to lighten up as he saw her blubbering giggles, his own grin forming. "...Okay. Is there more?" The grin grew into a smile.

There was nothing else to do, Ro reasoned, than to just say it. "Grandpa Aaron, I'm pregnant."

The big smile on Stone turned into a slack-jawed smile of surprise. "Wow, okay. That was not what I expected. Like, newly pregnant, or...?"

Green went through it all, about Ken, what Doctor Williams had said, the whole story. No detail was left out. "Now that you know all that, dad, you also need to know I'm getting married. When Ken gets back from this mission the Capernum is on we're going to tie the knot."

Aaron leaned back in his chair smiling, giving a sigh of contentment. Not for himself, no, but for his daughter. "I never thought this would happen after the twins had passed away. You built quite a hardened shell around yourself, became focused on work and other pursuits to the level of obsession. Seeing you like this," he motioned at her through the screen. "is a blessing to my eyes. I see Punky, not Captain Ro Green, right now."

The reference to his childhood nickname for her made Ro break into a wide smile and giggle. "Damn, I haven't heard Punky in a long time. I wonder what ever happened to her."

"She's in hiding," Stone quipped. "I now think of her as Pima, her alter ego."

Ro tilted her head like a dog who heard a funny noise, her expression curious. "Pima?"

"Yep. P-I-M-A: Pain-In-My-Ass." Once he actually said it, Aaron laughed. "Sorry, that look on your face is priceless. So glad I record our private chats. Commodore Biggs gets a kick out of them. Well, the parts I show him. Some things always remain between father and daughter."

"You show our talks to Uncle Donnie?" Ro shook her head in mirth, not in anger. Uncle Donald Biggs, or Donnie as he was called, was her dad's best friend for life. "I can only imagine the things he says," she said with a smile.

"All good, I assure you. A little laughter and ribbing between gents, but all good." Stone reassured her.

The main branch for the Green family was planted on a massive ranch between Whitefish and Kalispell, Montana. When dad was out cruising the galaxy Ro stayed with them. It was where she had learned to ride horses, agriculture, cattle drives, fixing fence lines, and one of her favorite past-times when a young girl, seeing to the chickens. Building the henhouses and collecting the eggs for the free range birds. Some chickens were somewhat like dogs, recognizing certain people and then following them around as the person did their chores. Plus, when it came to chickens they were better mousers than cats, and if they saw one, the little feathered dinosaurs would attack with ferocity. The poor mouse would then be pecked and stomped to death before it was tore apart by the horde and consumed. Fond memories of her rearing. Aaron, being the savior for Green, had been readily accepted into the Green clan, and when time permitted, he and Ro would visit for weeks at a time. On more than a few occasions Uncle Donnie came along, becoming another adopted member of the Greens. Even before her changes in becoming an Augment, it was that life that had toughened Ro Green for a life in Starfleet.

Father and Daughter talked for over an hour. Just talked. No Starfleet business, no Meji, no UFP. Just the love of dad and Punky catching up. By the time they had closed the channel Ro Green was swelling with happiness, so much so, she imagined what it would look like if she exploded. Her mind called up that image, with fireworks and sparklers fanning out from where her body had exploded in a cloud of white smoke. Smiling to herself as the mental images faded, Green stood up to go for a walk, intending to do so on the Promenade.
