Capernaum: Unexpected Meet and Greet
Posted on Sun Jul 12th, 2026 @ 6:32pm by Captain Sean Loewen {Meji} & Lieutenant Commander Sheyla {MD} & Lieutenant Ken Kudo {Meji} & Lieutenant T'Pri & Yui Kudo
Mission:
SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: USS Capernaum
Timeline: Current
ON:
USS Capernaum secured from warp just outside the surrounding satellite network around M-69, the security line that all ships adhered to about slowing to sublight to approach the station. Out the forward viewport the Bridge officers could see a plethora of various transports and freighters awaiting their turn to approach, dock, and offload whatever supplies and resources they were delivering. Captain Loewen sat back in his chair, legs crossed at the thigh, his eyes observing the goings-on even as his mind was thinking on other things. This was why all CO's had a Number One, to watch over the Bridge even as the captain was there. If the Bridge required the captain's attention, then Number One would let him know.
The XO, Lt. Cmdr. Sheyla, did just that. "Captain. A vessel with an unknown registry just warped in behind us. The CSS Quazi-moto, although the ship configuration is in our database under a previous designation. Lt. T'Pri, do you have more information?" Loewen had snapped to immediately, still as casual as ever, but alert to the Bridge activity, turning his chair slightly to look back at T'Pri.
"Yes, Number One." T'Pri responded. "According to Starfleet records, the CSS Quazi-moto was previously designated as the SS Harbinger. According to sensors it has undergone intensive upgrades and power output, with aesthetic changes being added. Also, there is an X-wing attached to the dorsal section of the transport."
Loewen recognized the old name. SS Harbinger had been the personal vessel of Captain Taavis before her untimely demise, passed on to Ainkara, who in turn had granted ownership to Manny who was now owner/operator of Club Bliss. Who the master of the vessel was now was unknown. "Any data regarding the new owner?" Sean asked. "A corporation, a company, or just a singular master and operator?"
T'Pri's hands tapped away at her console as she read from a small monitor. Even from this angle Loewen could tell her eyebrows had raised in her unique way when met with surprise. He saw her regain her Vulcan composure a moment before she turned halfway to look over at him. "According to records, that vessel is listed under private ownership by one Yui Kudo, and registered out of an organization calling themselves the Quazi Concordium. All records are legitimate and recognized by the United Federation of Planets."
Ken, who had been sitting and seeing to his own duties at the engineering station, had paused what he was doing and was now eyeing those discussing the information once he had heard his daughter's name. "That's Yui out there?"
Loewen's eyes shifted from one side of the Bridge to the other so he could address Mister Kudo. "Seems so, Ken." He uncrossed his legs and sat up central in his chair, facing forward, giving orders. "Mister Resch, conta..."
The ensign at the comm station interrupted. "Captain, incoming signal from the ship in question. They are requesting visual communication with Capernaum, specifically."
"Well, there we go," Loewen quipped with a grin. "Join me, Ken." Sean said this as he stood up and then went to the forward handrail of the Bridge, to face the viewport directly and centered, remaining in the lower Bridge as he rested his hand on the safety rail. Kudo got in beside him. "Ensign Dobbs, open the channel."
The viewscreen overlapped the viewport in the center, a quick glitch of fuzz, and then it cleared. Standing in the viewer, the image from the waist up on the three females, were Yui and two other women, all with feline features that appeared quite real to the observer. One black hair, one blonde-pink, the last purple. Here and there one could observe the movement of tails behind them as they swished back and forth. All three were dressed in garments that could be described as traditionally Japanese. All three put their hands together in a prayer stance and gave a bow from the waist showing respect.
"Papa, it is good to see you, again." Yui stated even as they straightened up and clasped their hands together at the waist. "Please, accept my apology for my long absence. I meant no disrespect to you, nor to mother."
If Ken felt anything out of the ordinary, he did not show it, remaining stoic as he straightened himself and returned the bow to his daughter and her companions. "You are an adult, now, Yui. There is no need for apology. It fills me with pride and joy to see you well, daughter. I ask that we speak casually and dispense with propriety, if you would so honor that request."
"Of course!" Yui stated, a big smile breaking out on all three female faces, the other two looking relieved that the bowing and scraping was now over. "I love you, Papa. So good to see you! You, too, Captain Loewen." Her eyes danced around the Capernaum Bridge. Hello, Griffon. And last, but never least, greetings to you, T'Pri." She gave a silly little wave to the Vulcan, who returned it in the way it was given. Sean could swear that there was a bare hint of a grin on her face when she did so. He could see it in her eyes; the friendship between the Vulcan and the eccentric Miss Yui.
"It's good to see you, too, Yui." Loewen said. "How did you come to acquire your ship? We know it changed hands several times."
"Manny sold it to me, and T'Pri made arrangements for its delivery to the border of the Quazi Concordium by a Vulcan research vessel." Explained Yui. All eyes looked to T'Pri.
The Vulcan raised her eyebrows in as innocent an expression as a Vulcan can manage. "What? It was a private matter and not for me to discuss with others, as per Yui's request."
"Okay, okay," Loewen said, bringing his hands up to get everyone to stop talking, chuckling slightly. "It's obvious there is much to discuss, but now is not the time. Miss Yui, if you would follow Capernaum in we will be docking at the junction for the outer ring where your mother's offices are. I assume you are heading for her bay?"
"I am, Captain, and thank you. That would be most helpful." Yui replied. "My droid will pilot my X-wing behind us, but will not deviate."
"Sounds good. We have a flight path cleared for us, so fall in and we will escort. Capernaum, out." The transmission was closed down. Sean put a hand on Ken's shoulder and squeezed. "Glad she's okay. Let's get this reunion underway, Lieutenant." Ken gave a nod, a silly grin on his face as he walked away. Returning to his chair and sitting down, Captain Loewen began issuing orders as the Capernaum began to move forward.
