Peel Post #11 - Nice Surprise

{Deck 2}

Jamie just finished his shower and was in the process of making bacon with eggs for breakfast while sipping his fresh hot cup of coffee. When his food was cooked he plated the breakfast then sat to enjoy his freshly cooked meal. About halfway through Jamie heard his desk comm go off and walked over and sat at his desk keying in his security code.

A face appeared on the screen he hadn't seen in awhile as a big smile came across his face "Katlyn how are you, it's been awhile" he stated happy to see her again.

"Hi Jamie, surprise" she replied with a grin "They said you were docked at the Base for a few days while they effect repairs on your Ship? Nothing serious I hope."

"No just some minor damage to part of the aft hull from our last mission" he explained "So what do I owe the pleasure of seeing your smiling face."

"Well I'm between jobs and am about two hours from your Base; I was wondering if you'd like to get together, that is if your not busy and I would still like to show you my Shuttle" Katlyn replied hoping for the right response.

"Actually, I don't have any concrete plans for today so yes I would love to see your Shuttle and give it the once over" he answered with a chuckle.

"Wonderful. When I get parked around the Base I'll give you my coordinates if you'd like to beam over" Katlyn replied with a big smile.

"Sounds good, just don't have me beam out into space or in the middle of your warp core" Jamie commented teasingly.

"I'll see what I can do" she responded giving him a taste of his own medicine "Looking forward to seeing you Jamie, Zebot out" then the screen went back to the logo.

Jamie went back to finish his now lukewarm breakfast which he didn't mind at all given the nice surprise he just had. When finished he cleaned up and put everything back in its proper place waiting for Katlyn's call.

==Later==

When Jamie heard his comm he walked over to the desk when Kat's smiling face appeared "I just set you the coordinates to my Bridge, so I'll see you soon?"

"Yes I'll be there shortly, O'Connell out." Jamie grabbed his comm badge and stuck it his pocket then was off to see an old friend, but first there was something he had to do. Tapping his Comm "Commander Devroe, this is O'Connell. Just to let you know I'll be off Ship for awhile. If you need me I'm only a comm badge away" he commented.

"Sure thing Captain; so are you going to explore the Promenade Decks some more, if you don't mind me asking" Angel replied.

Jamie smiled to himself "No actually Katlyn is parked above the Base so I'm going to take a tour of her Shuttle" he replied still smiling.

Angel thought for a moment deciding to have a little fun with Jamie since they were becoming good friends "Ah ha, touring her Shuttle and I suppose you'll be paying special attention the the bedroom area" she replied with a giggle.

Realizing Angel was having some fun at his expense simply answered "A gentleman never kisses and tells. I'll let you know when I'm back aboard."

"Have fun Captain and enjoy yourself; that's an order" she answered still giggling to herself.

"As you wish Number One" he replied as he tapped off his comm and walked out the door.

{Deck 3}

Jamie walked into Transporter Room One as the Ensign saw him and snapped to attention "As you were Ensign" then handing him the coordinates "Beam to those precise coordinates if you would please" Jamie said with a smile. "Yes Sir" the Ensign replied as Jamie stepped onto the Pad "Energize" and moments later he was gone from sight.

[Shuttle Genesis]

Jamie materialized on the Bridge as Kat stood with a big smile "Welcome to Shuttle Genesis Jamie. How have you been."

"I've been good and you" as his eyes roamed around the Bridge "I have to say your Shuttle is most impressive" Jamie commented with a smile.

"I'm good, but it's nice to have some company aboard. Here let me give you the five minute tour" Kat commented "This of course is the cockpit but I like to think of it as my Bridge; I guess old habits die hard" as Kat walked a little more forward "This is the Helm and Nav area, I reconfigured the controls so I can operate the Shuttle in one place then where Nav used to be is now my Tactical Station; not that I have that much fire power anyway."

Jamie's eyes were still roaming around the area "Most efficient setup you have here, so you really are a one person Crew" he replied with a grin.

"Yes I am. Follow me and I'll show you the rest of my domain" Kat commented with a light chuckle. Moving towards the aft part of the Shuttle "This is the living area on this side along with two computer terminals, couch, etc and on that side is a small kitchen area complete with replicator and reclaimer. Against the front wall are the Shuttle's Computer Systems." Jamie remained silent taking it all in "Now this next section has two quarters, one of which I use to store my personal stuff along with a full bathroom" as Kat continued walking with Jamie following "This last area has a Transporter, small Med bay, and storage for my Computer gear. So what does the Engineer in you think."

"Most impressive Shuttle you have here and it looks like you've done some nice modifications as well" he replied with a smile "One question though where are the warp and impulse engines."

Kat smiled "I saved the best for last" as she walked over to the aft outside wall and keyed in her security code; the wall opened up "This side is the warp engine and the other side the impulse; they're out of the way and secured should I ever get boarded by a hostile" she explained.

"Very, very impressive. I like this Shuttle a lot" then he paused for a moment "But don't you get tired of being alone when you're aboard" he queried.

"I guess but I have been so busy I really haven't had time to think about it. Taking on another Crew member just seems like a chore" then she paused with a smile "Unless some Star Fleet Captain ever decides to leave the service, then he would be more than welcome to join me on my Shuttle" Kat commented knowing Jamie knew exactly what she was getting at.

Jamie smiled "Maybe someday, but for now I want to make a difference in the galaxy" he replied hoping Kat would understand.

Kaylyn smiled "I respect your decision, but please keep it in mind for the future. How about we go back to the living area, I have a surprise for you" she stated as the two made their way back.

"Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable" Katlyn said as she walked over to the counter. Grabbing two small glasses she then placed a few ice cubes in each one then opened a bottle and poured some in each glass. Grabbing the drinks she walked over and handed one to Jamie then sat down beside him.

"What's this" Jamie inquired smelling the contents.

"I think you'll figure it out soon enough" she replied with a chuckle.

Jamie tasted the liquid and couldn't believe his tastebuds; looking at Kat with wide eyes "Oh ya.....oh baby.....that's the good stuff" he stated then took another sip "Where did you find such a fine Irish Whiskey; it must have cost you a fortune."

Kat smiled "Actually it didn't cost me a thing. One of my recent customers was a little short on cash and ask me if I would accept this as partial payment along with his money. When he told me what it was I agreed knowing I was heading out this way and was hoping to see you again" she replied with a smile "I'm glad you like it."

"What's not to like, this is amazing" he replied then took another sip savoring the fine taste "Thank you, that was very thoughtful of you." The two friends sat for the next few hours talking about the old times together, Jamie's Ship, and Kat's new business venture.

Realizing the time Jamie stood "It's getting late so I should get back to the Ship before Number One has Security out looking for me. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening and the tour of your Shuttle; besides the great conversation and Whiskey of course" he commented with a grin.

Katlyn stood and walked into Jamie's personal space "You're getting away that easily Jamie O'Connell" then she gave him a very tender kiss for quite a few minutes. When the kiss was over "I've been wanting to do that all evening." Jamie smiled and returned her kiss in kind "Me too" he replied "So when do you have to leave."

"Tomorrow morning, my next job is two days travel from here and I don't want to be late" Kat responded then paused a moment "I hope to be back this way in a month or so. If you're on the Base maybe we can get together again if you'd like."

"I would like that very much; that is if I'm not away on a Mission" Jamie answered "It was so nice seeing you again Kat, travel safe and I'll see you again." he walked a few feet away then tapping his Comm "Transporter Room One, this is the Captain, lock on to my signal....I'm ready to return."

After Jamie disappeared, Kat sat on the couch feeling pretty good about the evening as she thought "One of these times I'm just going to have to jump that man's bones" as a smile came across her face at the prospect.
