Capernum: First Piece Moved On the Board

Posted on Wed Apr 9th, 2025 @ 4:05pm by Captain Rogue "Ro" Green {Meji Master} {Flt. Cpt.} & Lieutenant Commander Sean Loewen {Meji}

Mission: CAPERNUM: {CD&MISSION} On Duty
Location: USS Capernum
Timeline: current/somewhere in between

ON:

Captain Ro Green sat lotus in the middle of her 'living room' area, eyes closed as she communed with the Force and was deep in meditation. She and Taavis had decided, with the burgeoning relationship, to have their own quarters. This would afford either of them the relaxation of not having to worry about the emotional needs of the other, and to have their own space for solitude, serenity, and peace of mind. Twenty-four hours had passed, the USS Nazgul now up to par on repairs and maintenance to keep her together long enough for the mobile drydock to arrive and pull the ship within itself for the ship's ride home to retirement. The crew of the Nazgul had already been informed by Captain Taavis, and as Number One she offered each and every officer on Nazgul a berth on Capernum. There was plenty of room, and honestly, Capernum was not at her full compliment, either. Something Ro had planned on. Even now, while meditating, the Force was giving her visions of a very probable future, involving herself, those currently aboard as crew, and any that would come along. Wait...her mind's eye had spotted something in the myriad of images passing through her brain. She slowed it down and froze the image in her mind, seeing Lieutenant Ainkara. ~We will find her~

It was the obvious conclusion considering that what was seen in the vision was the main lounge here on USS Capernum, with Ainkara sitting around and enjoying free time with her peers. T'Pri, once this vision had come forth, disappeared from any further visions in regards to Capernum. That meant that her temporary position had been fulfilled and she would end up back on M-69. There was no sense of danger, anxiety, chaos or consternation. The visions were joyful and lighthearted, not filled with pain and misery. But, that could be due to the fact that that was what Ro was choosing to see, keeping any negative images a secret to herself as she did not want to think about them right now. Rising to stand, Green was wearing her Yoga/workout gear, her midriff bare as she wore only a dark blue sports bra with white trim, her leggings the same dark blue with white trim along the waistline, and her feet covered by dark blue boxing shoes with three white stripes on each and only ankle high. As she got set, Ro then went into her isometrics and katas. After a good fifteen minutes the door chime sounded. Not even sweating or breathing heavy, Green turned to face the door as she took up her water bottle. "Enter." She took a pull off of the bottle.

Commander Sean Loewen walked in, giving a nod to the Captain who stood before him. Reaching a polite distance for conversation he came to a stop. "So, my career as a CO ends before it got truly started?" He gave a crooked grin that was not seen in his eyes.

Ro decided to remain casual, as he was doing. To understand his frustration and speak at him on that level. "It's unfortunate, Sean. But, yes, that's what is happening. Nazgul took some serious damage to her spaceframe..." She stopped talking as he held up a hand to stop her.

"I heard and read all the reports." Loewen was showing concern behind his gaze, but what type of concern and for what? "My question is this, Captain. Am I going to be blamed for losing a ship or will mitigating circumstances play a role?"

Green set her water bottle down on the table, now giving her full attention to the man without any distractions. She did a friendly crossing of the arms over her chest, not done in a why of defiance or challenge. "Admiral Stone has already stated to me, and to Taavis, that all of this was not your fault. Capernum couldn't even see that rift until you came flying out of it like the Nazgul's ass end was on fire. On top of that, and already added to my report, was the fact that you found a ship that had been missing for over 150 years. Even losing your command, no one can take that away from you and your crew. The ship failed you, you didn't fail the ship."

Sean's shoulders deflated a bit as that statement caused him to release a bit of his tension. "Thank you. I have quite a few commendations I would like handed out, if approved. Also, a crew commendation for all those aboard during the incident, and an Efficiency ribbon they can wear proudly on their dress uniforms."

"I'll read through them but I'm sure all commendations will be approved, Mister Loewen." Green's eyes glanced down to his right hip, his own saber hilt worn openly. "I sent transfer requests to all aboard the Nazgul, hoping to bring them over here. Whoever decides to serve on Capernum, it is pre-approved by Admiral Stone. You, however, there will be some adjustments."

Loewen's head cocked sideways slightly, a cynical expression forming behind his eyes. "What kind of adjustments?"

Ro had to have this conversation. Her own want to set her staff well and have the right people in the right spots. "If you decide to serve on Capernum, you will be reduced to Lt. Commander. As such you will serve as the Flight Control Chief, once again. But, also, with your command experience during this fiasco, you will be third in command. Period."

Sean took it all in, thinking on it. Command had been thrust upon him. He took the reins and did what he could and ended up with a lame horse for his efforts. He had to admit to himself that being in command had been sudden, and therefore, it had not felt as comfortable as he had imagined it would. "All this is pre-approved?" He got a nod. "What about Mister Kudo? He is currently FC Chief."

"If he accepts to serve on Capernum," Green explained. "Then he will be the Assistant Chief Engineer. Nazgul logs show that he was constantly working with others to get some power back online. Also, he does have an engineering certification so he would be an asset to Ejo, should she choose to also transfer. If she chooses not to join then Kudo will become Chief Engineer.

As she spoke, Sean had been weighing the options, liking where they led to for his life and his career. "Fine, Captain. I accept the transfer. You just make damn sure that Doctor Holbrook agrees to come along, or I will have to deny the request."

Giving a chuckle, Ro kept smiling as she spoke. "The Doctor will have a larger parlor with which to see to the needs of the crew. Yes, she got the same message as the rest. Transfer to Capernum or sit on M-69 and wait for more orders to come her way. This puts all of you back on duty, doing something other than wallowing in self examination. There's a colony world out there that needs to be seen to...for various reasons. A perfect chance for USS Capernum to have fun, explore a strange new world, and aid the colony already there. Simple and refreshing."

Loewen could not help but smile in return, finding Ro's smile to be infectious as her eyes were lit up with mirth and joy, her face showing it in droves. She was truly happy, and she wanted to bring others along for this joyride. "Count me in, Captain. A few more years as a department head is plenty fine for me."

Ro reached out and shook his hand, her other hand coming up to squeeze his upper arm in a show of thanks and solidarity. "Add to that, Meji, Capernum is the first Starfleet vessel to have Meji as crew. The foundation has been set within the Federation and we will serve the government when, and if, we deem it necessary. For the most part, that will be always. Master Ro Green, at your service, Meji Sean Loewen."

Returning the handshake with verve, Sean nodded. "Glad to be here, Master Ro. I saw that Taavis is now a part of the ranks of the Meji. She carries a saber so she must be adequate tot he task?"

Green released her holds on him. "She is still learning but Taavis is an amazing woman with a severe learning curve. It takes her no time to adjust to something new if she finds it stimulating. It is obvious that being Meji means a lot to her and she poured herself into it. Her training continues so, perhaps you could aid with that on occasion?"

"Of course, Master." Loewen grinned. "Anyway, seems I have an entire cabin to move...again." He gave a giggle. "Seems all I do is play musical cabins. Please, tell me this one will last a while."

"Sean, it will last a while. Now get out of here. I have calls to HQ that need to be made." Ro noted that he remained standing where he was, grinning, but making no move to vacate her space. "Shoo." Green gave silly hand gestures towards her door, grabbed his arms and spun him around, then gently pushed him out into the corridor. "Carry on, Mister Loewen." She stepped back and her door closed.

Loewen stood there for a few moments, grinning to himself, and liking this new dynamic. He just hoped that Len would see it. It would afford them much more time together to really batten down the hatches on what they had going on. Turning from the door, Sean made his way down the corridor.
