Station Post: " Solving for X "

Lt Commander Croesus arrived to the dry dock area and surveyed the Athena. From his perspective the old girl had long out lived her usefulness as she had been in service since the Dominion War.

Tapping his badge he then called his assistant ops officer Kah’lyn Chiara-Rivers.

" Cro to Kah’lyn what's your status?"

“Just wrapping up some loose ends, I shouldn’t be long” Kah’lyn responded.

After that conversation Athenas engineer Lt Myar joined him.
" So I get help now from Operations?"

" As much as I can Mr Myar. Aside from the obvious what happened. ?" Croesus asked.

" Too much to say I will show you. " Myar said as he led Croesus through the dead ship. At one point they donned respirators to go to the sections exposed by damaged air.

When they returned to deck Myar added " If I didn't know better it was as if it was sabotaged."

" Sabotage? That is a powerful thought. Where is Lieutenant Commander Wallace?" Croesus asked.

" Nobody knows."

A tellarite in engineering coveralls walked over letting out a grumble "My apologies, I've removed three more of these power booters from the power management system." he paused trying not to sound gruff even for a Tellarite "These aren't in the normal schematics and this design isn't exactly something that would normally be approved, definitely not something Mr Wallace would allow."

" Myar get this repaired. I don't care if we are getting a new ship. Somebody sabotaged or half asses these repairs and their actions need to be dealt with." Croesus replied.

" I would agree sir but some of those repair orders came from Captain Deke Rivers, your father. He signed off on the launch of the Athena." Myar replied.

Croesus frowned but then looked to the Tellarite.
" Do what you all can please." Croesus said as he turned and left them to their work.

"one thing sir, we pulled one of those out of the section that got damaged, these aren't in the repair logs that I saw." The tellarite said

Kah’lyn arrived a few moments later offering a curious gaze. “What have I missed?”

" We have a mystery to solve Lieutenant. Someone caused the accidents on the Athena." Croesus replied.

The tellarite observed the goings on an chose to wait for a proper moment to speak, "Whatever was done, the work was very sloppy or done for another reason, either way either way it was an accident waiting to happen."

Croesus tuned and looked into the Tellarites eyes
" Don't worry we will get to the bottom of all this."

Kah’lyn nodded. “Well leave no stone unturned as the saying goes.”

Croesus nodded to Kah’lyn to join him as he exited the area but Myar remained behind. Being the first Caitian engineer on the station Myar couldn't help but watch the Tellarite. " Are you new to this posting? " Myar asked the Tellarite

"No sir, I've been here for a couple of months working on the Delta shift." he said with some vigor in his voice.

" Good catch on that Athena. Commodore Sureth wants it investigated so a level one diagnostic begins tomorrow." Myar replied.

"Thank you sir." he said.

Myar moved on to inspect some other fragments of the Athena. Lt Commander Croesus and assist chief Ltjg Kah’lyn conferred on their walk to the Ops Station.

" The Tellarite says the repairs were sloppily rushed. Is that just him being a Tellarite or did my Father actually bypass protocols?" Croesus questioned.

“I don’t think Captain Rivers was that kind of man from what I know of him.” Kah’lyn offered. “Unless protocols were skipped for a reason and it never got put right before your father passed away.”

" We need to go back and look at the past logs and mission reports from his last mission." Croesus replied

Kah’lyn nodded. “That’s a good idea, at least then we might get some answers.”
