Peel Post - Getting Acquainted

[Deck 1 Bridge]

Commander Devroe was sitting at command talking with the Captain when she realized the time. Looking toward O'Connell "Captain I'll be in Shuttle Bay 2 getting my Crew acclimated to the Shuttle" Angel stated as she stood. It seemed a little strange referring to them as 'her Crew' but it did have a certain ring to it.

"Certainly and have fun" the Captain replied with a grin.

Heading to the lift Angel tapped her comm "Attention Shuttle Genesis Crew, please meet me on Deck 5; Shuttle Bay 2" she ordered as she stepped onto the Lift "Deck 5" she requested looking forward to getting the Crew settled but she couldn't help but to have some butterflies in her stomach as she ventured into new territory; being in command of her own ship.

Walking into Shuttle Bay 2 Angel saw Sam standing by the Shuttle with a grin on her face "Good morning Commander; I thought you might want to make sure your security code works" the Ensign stated.

"Good morning to you also and yes that would probably be a good idea" the Commander replied with a light chuckle. Walking up to the keypad Angel keyed in her security code then watched the back hatch drop down onto the deck "Well I guess we know now" then she gestured to Sam to enter first.

Walking aboard Sam called out "Computer lights" as the entire shuttle lit up. The two Officers walked into the cockpit as the Ensign turned to the Commander "Ma'am would you like me to power up the Shuttle so everyone can check out their Stations."

"Yes please" Devroe replied with a smile "I'm going to the back and wait for the others." Then she went to the aft portion of the vessel. Several minutes later Devroe looked up "Lieutenants McNeil and Albo welcome aboard" the Commander commented with a smile then gave them a quick tour.

"I have to say Commander this is a very impressive looking Shuttle.....or should I call it a Ship" Jason replied with a grin.

"Ya, this looks like a smaller version of a Ship if you ask me" Johan chimed in with a grin of his own.

"I agree with you both but if you want to see impressive follow me to the cockpit, or Bridge if you rather" Devroe stated with a light chuckle as the three walked to the fore part of the shuttle. Seeing the expressions on their faces "See what I mean."

"Wow!! You weren't kidding Commander; this is amazing" Jason stated his eyes trying to take everything in at once with Johan being quiet, which was unusual for him, looking all around.

Taking a breath realizing things all of a sudden just got real "Allow me to make some introductions....Ensign Samantha Barot is out Pilot" she commented "Samantha these are Lieutenants Johan Albo and Jason McNeil....Communications and Tactical respectively."

"And please call me Sam; Samantha is way too formal" she replied with a chuckle. Both Officers gave her a polite head nod of respect.

"Ok, so the Pilot is front and starboard.....as C.O. I'll be sitting next to her, front and port....Tactical is behind me at port.....so I guess Mr. Albo that leaves you behind Sam at starboard" Devroe explained "Ensign Barot powered up Shuttle Genesis so please take this opportunity to become familiar with your Stations. Soon we will be taking her out for our own shakedown. Any questions."

No one said a word "Alright have at it and if you have any questions, no matter how silly they may seem, please don't hesitate to ask and hopefully I'll be able to answer all your questions" the Commander ordered.

Angel sat at her Station going over the different Science screens which she hadn't done in quite some time. Looking everything over her science background came to life as she started recalling most everything; which made her quite pleased.

Sam sat at the Pilot's Station going over all the controls [Not really much of anything new here] she thought as her hands flew over the various controls.

McNeil was looking over the Tactical Station becoming familiar with the different screens and modes paying close attention where the weapon controls were located and what fired what.

Albo sat at Comms kind of scratching his head looking over the controls; it'd been a long time since he'd been at a Comms Station. Looking everything over things were starting to come back to him as his hands moved over the controls.

When Devroe was satisfied with her Station, she stood and checked with the others "Mr.Albo since you haven't done communications is quite a long time are you good with everything" Angel inquired with a smile.

Johan grinned "It took me a few minutes too think communications again but I think I have everything pretty well down pat" he replied with a light chuckle.

"Good" Devroe answered with a grin then moved across the Shuttle to Tactical "Mr. McNeil are you comfortable with your Station's operations."

Looking up "Yes Ma'am; there're not that much different than the Peel's" then he paused a moment "This thing has a lot more fire power than I had imagined it would have" Jason replied starting to feel quite comfortable here.

"Yes it seems the Shuttle is well able to take care of itself" the Commander stated then returned to her seat. Looking over at Sam "And I'm not even going to ask you if you fly this thing.....I mean what's the point" as she laughed feeling very good about her Crew.

"Hopefully we will have the opportunity so I can show you how well I can pilot the Shuttle' Sam replied still very itchy to take it out and see what it can do.

"Soon Ensign, soon" then turning facing her Crew "Alright all of you look very comfortable with your roles here; which is pleasing to see. I'll be talking to the Captain shortly and see when we can take Genesis out into space. When the time comes I'll page you all to Shuttle Bay 2 as I did awhile ago and please if any questions come up by all means ask me. Are there any questions" the Commander commented. Not hearing anyone ask anything "Thank you and you may return to your duties, dismissed."

As the Crew rose from their Stations and were leaving Angel turned to Sam "You can power down the Shuttle and if you would secure it I'd be grateful."

"No problem Commander" Ensign Barot replied as she started the power down process. Angel left to go back to the Bridge.

[Deck 1 Bridge]

Angel walked back to the conn an sat with O'Connell inquiring "So Commander how did it go; everyone all set with Genesis."

With a big smile "Fantastic Captain, the Genesis has a really good Crew" then she paused "When had you planned on us taking her out for a spin."

Thinking a moment "Why don't you plan on fourteen hundred today. We'll drop out of warp and stop then you and your Crew can have at it for a couple of hours; if that's acceptable to you Commander."

"No that's fine and I'm sure Ensign Barot will love having a couple of hours to play" Angel replied with a light chuckle "Admittedly I'm just as anxious as she is to see what the Genesis can do."

"From what the Admiral told me I think you'll be surprised at what she can do" O'Connell commented with a smile.
