[Peel Bridge]

Fourteen hundred came rather quickly as the Captain called out "Helm, drop us out of warp then come to a full stop" he ordered.

"Aye Captain, dropping out of warp now" Hanes replied as he felt the Peel slow down. Several minutes later "Full stop Sir."

Turning to Angel "Looks like you're up Commander and have a safe flight" O'Connell stated with a smile knowing how anxious the Shuttle Crew was to try out the Genesis.

"We will Captain. I'll notify you when we're ready to depart and when we'll be returning to the Peel" Devroe replied as she stood and headed to the Lift. Tapping her Comm "This is Commander Devroe, Shuttle Crew meet me in Shuttle Bay 2."

Arriving Angel noticed the back hatch open as she proceeded to walk aboard. Advancing to the Bridge Angel was Sam in the Pilot's seat with a PaDD in hand "Good afternoon Ensign, how are you" Devroe queried with a smile.

Looking up "Oh hi Commander, I thought I would go over the preflight list while everyone comes aboard" Sam replied with a grin before going back to her task.

" Thank you for being on top of things and showing some initiative" Devroe replied ready to get going.

"I have an ulterior motive....I figure the sooner the Genesis is ready then the sooner we can get out into space" she explained with a chuckle. Just then Lieutenants Albo and McNeil arrived going directly to their Stations.

Turning "Mr. McNeil, Mr. Albo we'll be departing soon.....you gentleman ready for this" Devroe inquired with a grin.

"I've been looking forward to this" Jason replied. "Me as well" Johan chimed in with a grin.

"I think we all are and I want us to be ready when we're really needed in the future" the Commander stated with some pride in her voice for the Genesis and her Crew.

Looking at Angel "Preflights finished and I've remotely close the back hatch any time you want to get going Commander" Ensign Barot stated with a smile.

Giving her first order, one of many "Lieutenant Albo open a channel to the Shuttle Bay Chief." "All set Ma'am." Shuttle Bay Chief this is Commander Devroe requesting permission to depart" Devroe stated wanting to follow protocol to the letter their first time out.

[Permission granted Commander, have a safe flight] came the reply.

Tapping her Comm "Captain O'Connell departing the Peel now Sir." "Have a safe flight Commander and we'll see you when you return, O'Connell out."

Then looking over at Sam "You're on Ensign." "Yes Ma'am" Sam replied with enthusiasm as the engines came to life "Lifting off the Deck now" then Genesis rose and turned under Sam's experienced hand "Penetrating the force field.....we're in open space.....heading Commander."

"Heading mark four seven point five....warp two for now" Devroe ordered.

"Yes Ma'am.....heading mark four seven point five" Sam replied "going to warp two" as the Shuttle jumped to warp very smoothly.

"Tactical scan for any unwanted guests while I scan for and objects in our path" Devroe ordered.

"As you wish Commander" as McNeil started scanning the surrounding area.

Checking her screens "Looks like we're good to go Ensign....take us to warp three" Devroe stated.

"Going to warp three Commander" Sam replied as she initiated the order "Permission to try a few maneuvers to see how she responds."

"Permission granted.....but take it easy on us" Devroe replied with a chuckle.

"No problem Ma'am.....ok everyone hang on to your shorts or panties...here we go" as Sam banked steeply keep an eye on her readouts. After a few different maneuvers she was pleased the way the Genesis responded. Looking towards Angel "This thing is incredible the way it responds and is nice and tight on the turns."

"Yes, I noticed that and I didn't really feel too much pressure either" Devroe replied "Ensign take us to warp five then."

"Going to warp five Commander" as Sam increase their speed.

They stayed at warp five for about 30 minutes when Angel noticed something up ahead "Drop us out of warp Ensign."

"Aye Commander, dropping out of warp now" as the Shuttle slowed way down.

"Full impulse" then turning to Tactical "Lieutenant McNeil there's an asteroid up ahead....lock on with phasers and fire when ready.

"As you wish Ma'am.....lock acquired....firing phases now....target destroyed" McNeil called out rather pleased at the Shuttle's capabilities.

Checking her screens once again "Ensign bring us about heading six three point two.....Tactical there's another asteroid....when in position take it out with a torpedo" she ordered.

"Heading six three point two, aye Ma'am" Sam replied loving carrying out Angel's orders.

"Locking on to the asteroid.....firing mini torpedo now.....direct hit.....target destroyed" Tactical replied with a smile.

"Excellent shooting Lieutenant and both the phasers and torpedos really pack a punch" the Commander stated being very pleased with the fire power. Checking the time "Ensign put us on a reciprocal heading and back to the Peel; warp at your discretion" came the order not being in a hurry to return too quickly.

"As you wish Commander" as the Shuttle turned "Going to wrap two" Ensign Barot replied then sat back in her seat enjoying the ride.

Turning in her seat "So what do you all think of our new Ship" the Commander inquired interested in everyone's opinion.

"This thing is amazing, it's hard to believe it's just a Shuttle" Johan replied with a grin.

"I agree with the Lieutenant, the Genesis is something else" Jason stated with a smile.

"Ditto from me and this thing handles like a dream to boot" Sam chimed in.

"I feel the same as all of you do. This is a great addition to the Peel and it'll give us another option when we need one" Devroe commented with a smile "And may I sat how proud I am of each and every one of you for coming together so quickly as a Crew....well done."

"It's not hard to be a good Crew when we have such a great leader Commander" Ensign Barot stated with sincerity.

Angel was a little lost for words at the moment not expecting Sam to say something like that as the rest nodded in agreement as she simply said "Thank you."

Thirty minutes later "Commander we'll be back to the Peel soon" Tactical stated.

"Ensign drop us out of warp....one half impulse" Devroe ordered "Lieutenant Albo hail the Peel."

As the Genesis dropped out of warp "All set Commander" Johan replied.

[Peel]

"Captain the Genesis is hailing us Sir" Comms called out.

"On screen" O'Connell ordered then walked up behind Helm deciding to have a little fun with Angel "This is Captain Jamie O'Connell, Commanding Officer of the USS Peel....who do I have the pleasure of addressing."

[Genesis]

Angel glanced over at Sam who was snickering at the Captain's inquiry "This is Commander Angel Devroe Commanding Officer of the Shuttle Genesis. Very nice to meet you Captain O'Connell" she replied deciding to play along "Captain we're approaching the Peel and should dock in a couple of minutes."

"Excellent Commander and look forward to hearing how your flight went; see you soon. O'Connell out.

"Mr. Albo please contact the Shuttle Bay Chief" Devroe ordered as she received a nod from Johan "Chief this is the Genesis requesting permission to dock."

"Permission granted and welcome back Commander" the Chief replied.

Looking to Sam "It's all yours Ensign" Devroe commented.

"Aye Commander....starting my approach now" as she slowed down to one quarter impulse. Moments later Sam eased the Shuttle into the Bay then settled onto the deck before powering down the Genesis. Turning to Angel "We're good Commander."

Standing addressing her Crew "Again thank you all for your great work today. Secure your Stations then you're dismissed. Ensign please secure the Shuttle; I need to get to the Bridge."

"As you wish Commander" Sam replied as everyone exited the Genesis.
