Station: Shared feelings

Posted on Sat Aug 16th, 2025 @ 3:54pm by Captain Rogue "Ro" Green {Meji Master} {Flt. Cpt.} & Ainkara "Kara" Ski'a {SIS} {SoB}

Mission: Stellar Problems
Location: M-69
Timeline: Current

ON:

Kara, after seeing Resch to the gangway, and watching him walk its length to his ship, not taking her eyes away until he was out of sight, had gone to a lavatory just off this docking arm. Coming out to head back to the Promenade she caught sight of Green coming back from the same gangway, realizing that she had just missed her by a few minutes. Getting in next to her friend and mentor, seeing Ro smile at her, Kara got in step. "Well, they're off. Griff read the mission summary and said it's just a minor colony jaunt."

"Good to know," Green said. "I was going to go check it myself once I got to the office. Ken wants to transfer to M-69 to be closer to family, but I'm not so sure. I know his heart wants to be both places at once but that is not possible. I also know him. The USS Capernum makes him happy, no matter the time and distance between us. I would prefer that rather than a Kudo who was masking unhappiness for a decision he regretted once done." The two of them came out onto the main Promenade level, walking along together.

Kara was curious about what Green was saying. "So, as Fleet Captain, you can't just transfer him?"

"Oh, I can," Green responded, but her face showed it was a matter of professional dignity. "It would fall under nepotism if I were to just make that decision and approve his transfer. Ken needs to make the right calls for himself. I just want him to do what his heart tells him, backed by a logical mindset. He's my Samurai, off to serve his government. His duty to that comes first, and I will honor him the rest of my days if his life ends due to his convictions and loyalty."

"Samurai?" Kara asked, not knowing what a Samurai was.

Green went on to explain. "Samurai were members of the warrior class who served as retainers to lords in Japan prior to the Meiji era. Samurai existed from the late 12th century Earth until their abolition in the late 1870s during the Meiji era. They were originally provincial warriors who served the Kuge and imperial court in the late 12th century on Earth. The nation of Japan, back when there was conflict between nations. They lived by a strict code called Bushido, and to break Bushido and fight without honor was a serious act."

"Meiji?" Asked Kara. "Is this where you got the name for the Order; Meji?"

Ro gave a grin and nod. "Partially. The name is also derived from the royal guard to the Pharoahs of Egypt from Ancient Earth history. But, yes, with my fascination and love for Japanese culture I molded the name to something similar. If Klingons were to read about the Samurai I am sure their outlook on Humans being weak and cowardly would shift to a more positive light. The word 'samurai' means to serve or; service." Ro reached out and patted Kara's back, a warmth in the gesture showing her friendship. "I suggest you study both cultures. They are quite amazing. Plus, even to this day, no one can explain how the pyramids were built. Maybe the scientist in you could figure it out."

Giving a smile at the words, and the touch of love and friendship causing it, Kara replied. "I'll do that. Ancient Egypt and Japan, got it." She then switched topics. "You coming to Bliss for a refreshment?"

"Not right now, Kara. Maybe later," Ro said. She took Kara's hand in hers, clasping it briefly with both of her hands. "Thank you for the walk. I'll come by later, perhaps."

They hugged each other and then went their separate ways, both glad to have a friend who felt the same as they did when their men went off to places unknown.
