Greeting the CO/Making friends

Posted on Wed Feb 11th, 2026 @ 3:14am by Captain Rogue "Ro" Kudo {Meji Master} {Flt. Cpt.} & Lieutenant Griffon Resch & Lieutenant Regina "Regi" Green & Lieutenant JG T'Pri

Mission: STELLAR NURSERY
Location: USS Capernum
Timeline: Current

ON:

Resch and Green finished the tour, with the two of them stepping into the lift to head for the Bridge. "Damn." Green said. "I never realized how awesome the Guardian class really is. Color me surprised."

Griff gave her a side eye grin. "Yep. Not many know much about them since no Guardians have been involved in too many important actions. Mainly used for far away, less active patrol regions. Capernum, though, is right in the midst of the action out this way. You think we're cool, wait until you get to see USS Peel in action. Fast Attack ships are a credit to the fleet." He grabbed the control rod for the lift. "Bridge." Resch said to the computer and the lift began to move.

"I've seen Defiant class in action, but not any of the others," Green responded, standing easy with hands down at her sides. "Even had to space walk and aid in replacing a shield grid on one. Pain in the ass since you have to adjust the ablative armor to even get to it. But, that's what the armor is for." The lift stopped and the door slid open, the two of them walking out from the starboard lift near to Lt. T'Pri. She glanced over, gave a nod, and went back to reading her screens.

Kudo, still in the captain's chair, was staring straight ahead out the forward viewport, seeing M-69 getting larger as they got closer. When she heard the lift open to her right side she glanced over, casually gave the two officers a once over and then her eyes made to go back to looking forward. Her brain caught up with what she had just seen even as she did so, and the double take had her partially spin her chair to get a better look. Sure as shit, Ro Kudo was looking at the face of her second cousin, Regina Green. A few years older from the last time Ro had seen her, a level of maturity in her eyes she had not had before, but definitely her. "Regina?" Kudo stood up. "Is that really you?"

"In the flesh, Captain." Green responded, smiling warmly. "Been a while since we last saw each other. Emails don't do time any justice."

The Bridge crew were now paying more attention to this meeting even as they kept an eye on their stations. Being Beta shift they did not often get a chance to see the CO interact with people. T'Pri on the other hand, she had spun her chair around to observe the discourse, one eyebrow arched in curiosity. She never left when the rest of Alpha did, always busy working and updating the sensors and computer systems.

"No," Ro said, stepping down from her chair and mounting the upper Bridge. "No, they don't."

Green's right hand came up even as she kept smiling. "Wait. Let's do this right." Regi cleared her throat and tried to stifle that silly grin, which was the part she failed at. "Lieutenant Regi Green, reporting to USS Capernum as directed, Captain." She extended her hand which was grasped immediately and used to pull her into the CO for a familial hug. Ro hugged her warmly, her back getting three pats, and three rubs, and then Kudo stepped back and straightened herself.

Once back to the appropriate distance, Kudo spoke up. "Welcome aboard, Lt. Green. We're damn glad to have you. Have you been assigned to your duty section?"

"Yes, Captain. Security-slash-Operations officer. It is my hope to be given leave to take part in away missions and to work closely with sciences." Green stated.

"Last I remember you were quite the pilot, too." Ro said before looking to Resch. "Thank you for bringing her to the Bridge, Griff. You're more than welcome to stay and chat with us as we catch up. Alpha shift is over so you don't have to."

"I have some personal things I need to get to, Captain, but thank you." He turned and took a step towards the lift, stopping just short as the door opened for him. He looked back over his shoulder. "Miss Green, should you get lost just call Security and we'll send someone to see you home." With a stoic face he then entered the lift and spun about. Just before the door slid shut all the way he gave a teasing wink at his new officer.

"Is he always like that," Green asked with a giggle.

"That's him on a good day," Kudo said, also giving a chuckle. "Most days he's pretty serious when on duty." They got moving as they slow-walked around the upper portion of the Bridge. "His friendship with Commander Loewen has really loosened him up but, he is still laser focused on accomplishing his job of keeping this crew safe. Be prepared for that, Regi. No one goes on away missions unless Resch clears them. If you aren't willing to get dirty, don't ask."

Regi gave a grin in return, although her eyes belied her own seriousness. "I'm a Green, cousin. Getting dirty is what we're good at. I've gone out on horseback at midnight to save calves during snow storms. I haven't slowed down just because I wear this shirt now."

"Good to know," Ro said, giving a grin in return. "I wasn't questioning your dedication, just giving you some insight into Griffon's character. Once M-69 gets moved to its final destination then we'll be free to patrol the Messier sector. Remans are not known for giving up after one defeat."

"Not usually, no." Green agreed as they made it around to the port lift.

"Anyway, I need to get going. I have a husband to see to," Kudo said with a smile. She leaned in to make her next part between the two of them. "There are two promotions coming up tomorrow. They were slotted to happen a few weeks ago but then all the chaos happened. I'd love to have you out for some drinks to celebrate. You game?"

Regi gave her a smile. "Of course. I rarely drink alcohol but, for a promotion, I can sip some frog water or something."

"Good. I really do want to catch up and hear all the stories from home." Ro grabbed Regi in another quick hug. "So good to see you again. We'll talk tomorrow." She then entered the lift and disappeared.

"Pardon my intrusion." This female voice came from Green's left, her eyes going to the Vulcan in the short blue dress/skirt uniform with black sheer leggings and knee high boots.

"No intrusion to be had," Green said, stepping in closer and away from the archway for the lift. "Regi Green, Miss...?"

"T'Pri," she answered. "I am the Science Chief. I could not help but overhear your conversation, in part. If you desire to further your science disciplines I am always willing to aid in that endeavor. Feel free to contact me at any time in such regard."

"Thank you, T'Pri, that means a lot to me. I come from a family of engineers so I know most of the basics in that regard." Explained Green as they both walked back over to stand near the SCI station. "As a Security officer I would like to sharpen my skills in forensics and such. A good investigator follows the science and is able to put the puzzle pieces together."

T'Pri gave a nod to that. "Never forget the gut feeling that something is amiss. Mister Resch reminds me of this often. The educated guess can be a life saving decision at the worst of times." She saw Lt. Green's eyebrows raise at that. "I am Vulcan, and fully embrace logic. However, logic is not always the right answer in difficult situations. As Ambassador Spock once said; logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end."

Green gave her a grin. "May I test that theory?" When the Vulcan gave a single nod, Regi went on. "What does the wise being know?"

"The wise being knows that they know nothing so must always seek the truth in all things." T'Pri answered smoothly, and without pause. "When one believes they have all the answers before seeing the whole problem, mistakes are made and the cost can be great for such arrogance."

"I couldn't agree more. I find it agreeable to have met you, T'Pri." Green gave her the Vulcan salute. "I am honored to have met you." Her hand dropped. "I need to get my quarters in order. Perhaps we can meet up for lunch or a break to discuss this more?"

"That would be my pleasure," T'Pri said. Seeing Green's face change again she raised both her eyebrows. "As you can tell, I am not as traditional as other Vulcans. Experience has taught me that all species have something to teach each other. Until we meet for lunch, Regi, relax and welcome aboard."

"Will do. Have a pleasant night, T'Pri." Walking passed the Vulcan, Green entered the starboard lift.
