Twas the night before the big move to the Lagoon Nebula and it was running at peak capacity. The installed technology was like never before seen in a starbase. Interactive stations were running the systems while crews of Binars and other Intel personnel filled in until the staff and crew took possession.
Kah’lyn was looking forward to the big move, a lot had gone into the planning and people were waiting for the station to move so they could come aboard. Business was already starting to look good.
Sureth stood at the dock bay door greeting the arriving shuttles as they were being ferried to the new station.
" Welcome everyone. Please follow your chaperones and enjoy the tour." Sureth greeted as binary including Uno guided the tours.
Doctor Williams and Lieutenant Stone were quite impressed with the new Station having the latest tech and being all shiny and new. After awhile they arrived at the new Medical Operations Center formerly known as Sick Bay. Walking in they couldn't believe how nice and calming the Reception area was with its soft colors and ambient lighting. Proceeding to the right they entered the Main Bio-bed area; Ramvek couldn't believe what he was seeing "Look at this place....it is amazing'" he stated seeing four beds, a Nurses Station at the back, and a Doctor's/Nurse's Station all the way forward plus the entire area was littered with all kinds of tech and screens.
Looking up Heidi tapped Ramvek on the arm "Look up" she stated amazed at seeing another floor of beds through the open ceiling.
Doing as requested "Wow!! A second floor with even more beds" he replied totally amazed before looking to his right "Here's an open sided lift to takes us to the second floor" as the two entered and Heidi saw a button on the frame that see pressed. Moments later the safety bar unlocked and the two exited.
Looking around the area Heidi counted another twelve beds each with their own tech screens, like the previous deck, and a massive Doctor's/Nurse's Station at the opposite end of the floor "Ok this is blowing my mind right now.....this setup is incredible and should really make treating patients so much easier and more efficient."
With a smile "That it should and it seems to have a well thought out layout as well" as he paused checking his PaDD "Look there is so much more to this facility" Ramvek stated starting to realize the sheer size of Medical Operations.
After looking around they realized the facility had three Surgery suites, one advanced suite with its own EMH, Medical Research Lab, a quarantine area, and a Replicator Alcove. The next deck housed the upper Main Bio-bed area, a Counseling Lounge, Counselor's Office, CMO's Office, Nutrition Lab, Pharmacy Lab, and another Replicator Alcove. Both decks had a triage/emergency intake for injured patients. Also on Deck 101 was a smaller Secondary Bio-Bed Area with one Surgery Suite, and a Medical Transporter to beam the seriously injured directly to the Main Area. Also numerous First Aid Station were placed around the Station operated by EMHs.
“Oh wow!” A heavily pregnant Isabelle stepped into the new medical facilities. “This is amazing. I’ve no doubt you’re thrilled with this Ramvek.”
Ramvek grinned "My thoughts exactly and yes thrilled is a good descriptor to say the least" he replied looking at Isabelle "And it looks like you will be the first woman to give birth in this new facility. How are you feeling these days; it has to be getting close to your time to deliver."
Isabelle nodded. “35 weeks gone and counting down. I feel like a baby space whale!” She grinned. “My genetics put me down anytime between 36 and 40 weeks so we’ll see soon enough.”
Ramvek gave a light chuckle "One thing is for sure the baby will let you know when the time comes and actually you wear the pregnancy look pretty well" he responded.
“Thank you” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Can I see the maternity suite? I’d like to see where I’ll be ahead of time.”
"Sure right this way" Williams replied as he walked with Isabelle to the requested location "Here we are, state of the art maternity ward complete with an EMH should any complications develop; although that doesn't seem too likely in your case" he explained with a smile.
Isabelle smiled warmly. “I’ll admit it’s eased my worries seeing all of this. I have a birth plan all prepared, I’ll make sure you get a copy.”
Lieutenant Commander Croesus entered and quickly found his spouse.
" Am I so glad to see you. Remans smell something fierce when captured. But I do have some news, Evoch escaped and he took the clones of your parents with him. But we were able to capture a Lieutenant that is willing to help us." Croesus whispered to Kah’lyn.
“If the clone of my father and my clone are on the loose then the sooner we find them the better.” Kah’lyn added as she turned to Croesus. “Who is this Lieutenant?”
" He is a Reman Sub-Lieutenant named Molt." Croesus whispered.
“A Reman? I hope it’s not a bad idea dealing with him.” Kah’lyn added concernedly.
Sureth began mingling and found Ensign Uno the lead Binar officer. In Uno Sureth had found his own way of maintaining order and balance as these Binars knew how to interact with the new Cybrid systems.
" Commodore all systems are nominal. Warp propulsion systems are functioning with in perimeters and the third vessel has just attached its moorings." Uno reported.
" Excellent. First Officer Devroe will be in charge at Ops and in charge of the stations move." Sureth said loud enough for Commander Devroe to hear him.
"As you wish Commodore" Devroe replied suddenly realizing the scope of the order as she thought to herself "You can do this....you commanded a Starship....Jamie trained you to be in charge."
An added person on the list was someone never thought of Ardoo from the Overwatch group. Seeing Isabella Veran-Dallas he paused but then decided to greet her.
" Counselor Isabella Congratulations on the birth of the bab....I mean promotion."
“Thank you Ardoo” Isabelle offered a polite smile.
Ardoo looked at the crowd and then back to Isabella.
" Is John here too?"
“He’s supposed to be, but I haven’t seen him arrive yet” Isabelle offered wondering what was keeping John busy. “He’ll probably be here soon.”
" I have a vested interest in all of you. I have done all that I can with in the limits of the Overwatch to preserve this station. Unfortunately my attention to another issue kept me from stopping the Reman attack. Fortunately all of these good people worked long and hard to build back and better. " Ardoo seemed to apologize.
“We don’t give up easily Ardoo as I’m sure you realise by now. We’re here to stay and the sooner people get used to that idea, the better off everyone will be.”
Ardoo bowed and exited and soon John joined Isabella for the tour. Others in the room also spied his attention. Dr Ramvek Williams among them also caught his eye.
" Good Doctor...it is great to see you. This must be the little woman?" Ardoo asked pointing to Heidi.
Ramvek glanced towards Heidi and received a look of "And how are you going to answer the question" before composing himself "It is nice to see you again as well Ardoo. May I present Lieutenant Heidi Stone; she is my head Nurse as well as my girlfriend. " he explained with a grin.
Satisfied with Ramvek's response Heidi smiled "Ardoo it's nice to finally meet; I've heard a lot about you" she responded as she rested her hand on Ramvek's shoulder letting him know she was fine with his answer.
" Me and the Doctor go ...way back." Ardoo replied referring to the time travel experience. " Has he let you use the healing bracelet or was it a glove yet?"
"No he hasn't but in the Doctor's defense we really haven't had a situation yet that would require it use" Heidi Stone replied knowing Ramvek really would prefer not to use the bracelet.
Ardoo frowned but then smiled " Doctor knows best. If you will excuse me I see another friend."
Sureth walked about and then took to the center of the room.
" Colleagues and friends. The last few months have been very trying on all of us but each of you played a role in pulling us through. The late night rations and the shared bathrooms are now in our past. I present to you Starbase M-69 2.0. A special thank you to all the departments and especially Captain Kingston and Lt Commander O'Neil. Tomorrow 2 large tug class ships will safely deliver this station to our new home above Aurelia. But tonight we celebrate this stations next chapter. Enjoy." Sureth introduced.
