Mission: THE KINGDOMS COME AND GO
Location: various
Timeline: current

Once on site, the USS Capernum continued to tow the NX-22 Malta, finding a docking arm they were directed to. Capernum took on side of of the arm, Malta the other side, right across the extension arm for docking rings from each other. Good, that suited Green just fine. She wanted ther Capernum to have a chance to go over the ancient ship, to make their own discoveries and log their own reports. Number One, Taavis, was in full agreement. So, the docking procedures were seen to and in short order both Capernum and Malta were docked across from each other. Green had wanted to remain free and clear, but sometimes circumstances provided the need for a change of plans. "Mister Resch," Green said from Bridge center. "Standard leave and duty shifts. Going to Sixty-nine is on their time, not ours."

"You got it, Captain." Griffon began to tap his console, setting up the 'shore leave' for all aboard.

"I take it you'll be busy for a few?" Taavis asked Green. "We've thrown changes at Sureth numerous times. Let us hope he remains the understanding man he has always been."

Ro gave a grin. "I'm sure he will. He can remove me from Fleet Captain position, or keep me there. Either way, I have single ship command, again. Whether I make commodore, or not, is beside the point. I plan on commanding Capernum until they force me to retire."

Taavis gave Green a nod at that. With herself being a captain, if anything arose that needed the Fleet Captain back at M-69, then Taavis would auto-shuffle to acting captain, USS Capernum, with Loewen immediately becoming the Number One. The brevet list was already finished and set. Should one officer need to step out of the ranks for whatever reason, there would be another to take their place. No shake-up of the status quo on too large a scale. Taavis knew that Green was close to being recognized for further accomplishments in her career, and that commodore would be right around the corner. And, it was the last rank available for an officer to maintain a single ship command rather than taking charge of a flight of starships. Either way, Captain Ro Green was in the right position for the right time...for now.

Dark Harbor had been interesting over the past month what with Ainkara now a part of the 'staff' for the facility and way of life. Though she wore clean clothes and had her own, private quarters, she still came out of the pits filthy and covered in grime, soot, and flotsam that came from the arduous labor of pulling raw dilithium crystals from the earth. Today, Kara had chosen to work away from others, that voice in her head guiding her to a different area to smash and break stone to get to the ore. With her Voran strength that was no issue, even with how arduous it could be at times. Days of doing the same thing day in and day out did tend to cause a person to lose their fervor, especially when one was forced.

~There. Behind those rocks~

Kara moved her gaze to the mentioned area of rock where the voice was directing her to dig and pickaxe. There was the barest hint of crimson mixed into the material consisting of the rocks she was being directed to dig at; to get behind them and find whatever it was that the voice wanted her to uncover. The voice was insistent but never pushed too hard, knowing how hard-headed Ainkara could be when one tried to force her to do anything. Her hooded catsuit was covered in muck as she worked hard to crack stone and remove it from small area while she fished out larger chunks of dilithium. Her anti-grav trolly cart was getting quite full with stone that was well-infused with dilithium. If not large enough to make dilithium crystals for engineering pursuits, the smaller crystals could be sold as bits and pieces for jewelry.

Dropping her pickaxe, Kara got on her hands and knees and began to pull large area of loose dirt and gravel to herself, then shoved that pile to the side. Over and over she repeated this until she had a 'clean' area free of any leftovers. Since she had been allowed to carry blades now, Kara reached to her left thigh, pulling the survival knife from its scabbard since it was a larger blade which was also quite the tool to have. Using it as intended, Kara stuck the tip into the crease between stones, moving the hilt this way and that as she tried to work this particular rock loose so she could pull it free and see what the crimson substance was.

Pulling her offending piece of stone away and using the Force without even thinking about it, Kara floated the rock to the side and let it simply crash to the stone floor as if she had just nonchalantly tossed it aside. Now, with the low gap created by removing this piece of rock, there was a dark red glow coming from up inside. Getting on her belly and looking inside, the right side of her head placing her ear on the stone floor to cast her gaze within. There, within the small chamber she had just revealed, a red crystal lay by itself, surrounded by small pieces of dilithium crystal. Around the red crystal were creatures, insectlike beatles as they all seemed to want to remain in close proximity to the red crystal, vying for space to remain in touch with it. ~Eat them~

That thought entered Kara's mind and was immediately rebutted with disgust. From what she could tell by simply observing the critters was that they were covered in a shell similar to that of a lobster, and within their bodies, able to be seen when there was a bright light source on the opposite side, Kara noted that their innards were mainly in a liquid state similar in goop to crabs and other sea creatures. Reaching her left hand within the small space, extending the arm to reach to grasp the red crystal, Kara's hand opened up with the full intention of claiming this crimson prize. Three of the critters, sensing her hand's approach, attacked. Their mandibles bit into her flesh, trying as they might to deter her from grasping the red crystal by biting her repeatedly. It hurt something fierce, causing Kara to grunt in pain each time she got bit. In her instance of anger she grabbed one of the creatures around the body and yanked it free from the cubby hole. It wriggled and fought to get free of her grasp, the other two following their captured companion out of the cubby to try and pursue the dange to them all while freeing their captive. ~Eet them! Now!~

Without thinking Kara pulled the one she had grasped in hand, pulling it to her mouth and taking a big bite out of half of its head and the surrounding shell and flesh. Brackish, green-grey-black fluids came forth from the critter as it now had a gaping wound in the side of its head and still wriggled to save itself even though it was already dead, the body just reacting with the nerves twitching. To say that the thing tasted disgusting was the understatement of the century. It was like biting into six layers of ass served on a plate of targ droppings.

~Steel yourself. Control! You must learn control! These morsals will make you stronger~

Calling upon her own body, Kara did just that. Controlling her body she negated the flavor of the critters even as she continued to eat them. Their liquid innards had spilled all down the front of her, but each one of them had been consumed as Kara fought to catch and eat those that remained. She knew it was disgusting. She knew they tasted awful. But, following the directives of her mind had brought forth success. She now felt stronger, mor ein tune with what was around her, being able to Sense a great many things. The make-up for the creature's internals left her somewhat euphoric, so there she sat as she knelt on both her knees in the perfect servile stance, all while she spaced out and began to think on things both here on Dark Harbor and beyond. An image flashed in her mind and she brought it back even as it passed. The memory was Griffon Resch, his smiling face as he had always been so good to her in helping her to understand the nuances of other beings and their cultures. Kara grinned to herself at the memories.

"Hey!" Heavy footfalls began to approach Kara from her left. A guard stepped up and looked down at her in the kneeling position. "What the hell you doing?"

Keeping her expression stoic and meek, Kara looked his way, her eyes a bit exotic as she looked him up and down. "Just finishing getting these." Her hands swept out to show the small dilithium pieces that would be used for jewelry. "Guard Captain Claire was very insistent."

"Are ya finished, then?" The man asked, hisx own eyes going over Kara's body, especially certain areas, since she now wore the catsuit and there was not much left to imagining what she looked like beneath it.

"I am," Kara offered, providing a lascivious grin. "I was told I could...play, when my work was done. If you'll allow me to place these in the trolly then I can see to your...needs?"

The man gave a crooked smile. He had not had the chance to sample this Voran, and had heard some rather disturbing things about this particular vulcanoid, but he chose to ignore them in an effort to assuage his own horny body. "That's fine, sugar. Get them in the trolly." Now in a hurry, before this moment could pass and he would miss his opportunity, the guard set his rifle down and began to adjust his clothing for a quickie.

Keeping her physical self completely stoic, Kara gathered the pieces of dilithium and placed them atop the pile in the trolly. The rifle she picked up and set further aside and away from the guard's reach. He was too busy with his zipper to watch what she was doing. No great loss when he ceased to exist. Grabbing a piece of sharp crystal, the way it had broken and sheared providing a dagger-length sharp edge and point. Kara's hand wrapped around the base with strength and purpose, her body now feeling exhileration as it was about to commit an act of violence and end the miserable existance of this piece of garbage. Her back was to the man, and with her forearms resting along the edge of the bucket for the trolly, it looked as if she was consigning herself to being taken from behind by the man. He reached up and touched her shoulders, adjusting her stance and position for his best effort.

"Unzip," he ordered.

Her weapon hand leaving the piece of sharp dilithium, Kara reached to the front zipper of her black catsuit, pulling it down slowly until it ended at her abdomen. All he had to do now was paw his way to her shoulders and peel the outfit off of her shoulders and down her back to expose her for his intended fun. JUst as he made the move of putting both hands, one on each shoulder to pull it off and down, Kara grabbed the dilithium dagger and spun around. The look up surprise on the man's face was priceless as Kara's left hand came up and grabbed his hair at the root, the right hand shoving the dilithium blade up through his chin and into the roof of his mouth as it pushed upwards and pierced the brain. Well, what little there was of it. THe eyes lit up in surprise and death, the man's legs now stiff with surprise as much as his eyes.

"You will never have me again." Kara said this slowly before quickly pulling the blade down and out of his face/head. She gave him a slight push and he toppled over backwards, onto his back, his legs still stiff and knees locked due to the brain trauma he had suffered. Kara tossed the blade into the trolly and then zipped the front of her outfit up. No one would ever take from her again. They would take what was offered, period. Taking the rifle and other gear the man had removed, Kara placed them on the man's chest and left him there. Let another guard find him, there was nothing in the rules that stated that a slave HAD to let the guards know about one of their own being found dead. In all actuality, every slave here wished all the guards would die, and it was not incumbent upon them to aid the enemy. Something understood by guards when they were hired.

"So, we now begin. Time to find a way off this place." Kara pushed her trolly along easily and when another slave stepped to as if to take her trolly, her glare showed them that that would be a bad idea. Instead, she did gather two others, picking up smaller pieces as they went to offload their trolly, so that these three would meet their quota for the day. Kara was not opposed to helping, but only if it benefitted her first.
